To me if Adidas went with a more plain design like this, they would make some of the nicest kits around.

It's amazing how infinitely better your version looks.

Another transfer window means will Cesc go or will he stay. This is become repetitive and tedious. Many Arsenal fans are sick and tired of the annual Barcelona attempt to poach our captain for nothing!

Last summer was the summer we all thought Cesc would leave, he even asked to leave and told Arsene to his face he wanted to leave, or so the stories go. Fabregas was too clever to go public and risk the wrath of the Arsenal fans. When he never got his move he knuckled down and turned in a mediocre performance for most of the season, culminating in his pathetic flick at the Nou Camp that turned the tie against Arsenal.

Barcelona have made it clear they only has €45M to spend on all players this summer, knowing that this sum is not enough to prise away the former player from Arsenal. This claim of poverty does not stop Barcelona trying to buy Guiseppe Rossi for €35M.

There has been talk of Barcelona offer £30M plus two players, but Guardiolla is reluctant to let any of his youngsters leave the Nou Camp, in case they turn out like Cesc and it costs Barcelona £30M to bring each one back “home”. The Barcelona board are sick and tired of Pep’s annual obsession with Cesc and his reluctance to offer players in exchange to make the deal happen.

From Arsenal’s perspective we have heard that Wenger wants to keep Cesc, he has stated that his captain has a long contract and is not going anywhere. Many supporters however, suspect that a gentleman’s agreement was struck last summer between Cesc and Wenger in that Fabregas will be allowed to leave this summer if the offer meets Arsenal’s valuation.

Cesc is playing a blinder this summer. He is saying all the right things, “I just know that I am very happy where I am, if I tell you more I would be lying to you. Anything else would be speculation that is untrue because at this moment I have nothing else to add except that I am an Arsenal player and I’m very happy there.”

Cesc put the ball firmly in Wenger’s court, “There have been no decisions. It doesn’t always depend on the player and at the moment I don’t know anything.”

“I am in a very difficult position. I am not going to talk so that a transfer happens. I think I made a mistake last year, because then things happened as they did, and you learn from mistakes,” he said in reference to last year’s attempt to bounce the club into selling him.

It is clear to everyone that Cesc would like to leave and leave this summer. If this was not the case he should come out and say that he wants to honour the remainder of his contract unless the club decides to sell him. That would end all speculation, but we know that will never happen.

What is the best outcome for Arsenal?

Arsenal have reached a crossroads with Cesc, we cannot allow this saga to continue every summer and because of the financial muscle being flexed this summer by AC Milan and Inter Milan and the interest that Real Madrid have registered in Fabregas, Arsenal should sell Cesc to the highest bidder. A fee of £50M is not out of the question and it will flush out Barcelona’s real intentions. Arsenal can then present the various options to Cesc and tell him to either choose one of these clubs or sign a new extension to his contract and get a public statement from Cesc that he is committing his future to the club.

It is time Arsenal started to call the tune in the Cesc saga, not Barcelona who think they are entitled to Cesc on the cheap as he was one of their former players that we poached (something Barcelona have just done to Leeds United with Elliot Kebbie).

If Cesc goes there will not be many tears at the Emirates as we are sick and tired of this annual saga, plus in Wilshere we have a player that will be better than Cesc.

Don't know how Arsenal fans like Cesc. He's such a douchebag. Specially after how he "played" in the match against Barcelona for the UCL.

You need to quote articles that you post; cutting them off somewhat can also be good.

Also, "plus in Wilshere we have a player that will be better than Cesc."

Wow, it's been a month?

Looking forward to the fixture list tomorrow. Here's an interesting article the BBC did on how complex the fixture list can get!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2009/06/secrets_of_the_fixture_compute.html

I'm sure Sky have some say in it now. Don't they have 'Grand Slam Sunday' or whatever, where the 'big 4' play eachother?

So there's a rumour going around that City is secretly planting fake jersey's on the internet in order to bowl everyone over with the real thing :lol

Probably bullshit, but I hope it's true.

I don't think Sky have a say but I wouldn't put it past the PL to purposely organize things like that. I wish they would let Sky in on it though (as odd as it sounds), because I usually try and get to the summer away games + booking travel as soon as the fixtures come out is cheapest but with the way Sky change things its risky.

Quiz time: Only 2 Premier League players got into double figures on goals and assists last season. Name them!
One had to be Nani.

Edit: I just looked it up and am surprised
Drogba
had that many assists.

Rooney and...Drogba(?)
Winner! Just curious, did you google that? I really wouldn't have expected it to be those two when I first heard it. Nani was my first thought too, and Odemwingie (nailed it for my fantasy team!) although both were very close. Drogba got 12 goals and 16 assists! Rooney was 11/11.

rooney was definitely gettable, he was the first player who came to my mind after reading the question. didn't think of drogba, though that does make sense.

I knew Rooney was up there (it was said during ChL final, that he had a decent season statistically speaking), but Drogba was a guess.

The fuck? Cesc Fabregas is bloody fantastic and one of the most gifted players to grace the Arsenal shirt. He is leaps and bounds better than any other Arsenal player at this point in time.

To even think of selling him without an adequate replacement is stupid and the biggest issue will be that no matter which player we get to replace him they will not be as good as Cesc and we will be a worse side for it. How any Arsenal fan could speak down on Fabregas is unthinkable...

Luckily for Arsenal Barcelona won't pay Arsenal's fee so the chances of him leaving are very slim.

BBC Gossip column is filled with all kinds of interesting nonsensical rumors today.

Rovers in for Adebayor; Ars bidding on Defoe; Inter readying 26m for Kaka; and Pool considering Gago!?!

Galatasaray just swept up Atletico Madrid players Forlan, Reyes and Ufalusi.

So basically from bad to worse.

Wouldn't shock me. Forlan has gone from being feted to being hated by that club. Reyes is just shit, and Ufalusi is old I think?

Turkish news seems to suggest its a done deal. I wouldn't doubt it...Galatsaray and Besiktas have wanted some of that Forlan for a while...

So I found another source on the Bendtner to Dortmund bullshit :D

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/stand...-demand-but-arsenal-hold-out-for-pound-12m.do

It says 12 mio pounds and Dortmund won't pay that for a third striker, so I guess that's over. What's more interesting is that Hamburg is supposed to be interested, too. That would be much more likely because they let go van Nistelrooy and Petric wants to leave.
That Hamburg rumour has been going ever since Arnesen was appointed. Bendtner did recently say, that he wanted to join a club that played in the ChL next season. Not sure if he can picky or why on earth he'd have a £12m price tag.

I hope they will not give Arda Turan to Atletico..

This one seems more solid than Klose. With Klose I think they honestly did think they had him. Guess we'll only know why Klose chose Lazio if he speaks out about it.

Demba Ba close to Newcastle signing. Is this good or bad. I don't know anymore.

Wow, and no wonder Kevin Nolan went to West Ham. Apparently a five year deal? Jesus.

Ba showed some glimpses of what he can do, but taking him on with a regular contract is a big risk. He's basically stuck with the constitution of a Michael Owen, poor dude.

5 years seems like a lot for Nolan, yet if he can get this team back into the PL in the first attempt...

If ever a West Ham deal seems a bit barmy, all I do is compare it to Keiron Dyer. Over that 5 year contract we'll end up paying Nolan somewhere in the region of what we paid Dyer for 4 years and fuck all football, so if Nolan can muster more than 7 first team starts, 27 sub appearances and a single goal in the space of those 5 years he'll work out a better buy than Dyer :p

Good, because he's pacey, has an eye for goal and is only going to get better and better in this league, bad because he wants 80k a week, a ludicrous signing on fee for his agent and there's the possibility that his dodgy knee explodes and you end up with an utterly crocked player, which is the reason why our deal with Hoffenheim for him was appearance based.

There is absolutely no way on earth he's getting 80k a week up here. Gutted about Nolan but I wouldn't have gave him another 5 year on 50k+ a week either. He lead us back from the brink, scored very important goals and pulled this piss out of the mackems whilst dancing around like a chicken. Cheers Kev we'll never forget :)

Kyrgiakos gets another year. It says a lot about our defensive situation atm.

Probably more to try and raise cash from selling him. He was a free agent this summer but we had first option on extending his contract. He'd be ok back in greece, or Italy even. Somewhere slower like with Poulson. At £1m to £1.5m he really not a bad signing for someone. Experienced and handy if you want to play deep and defend high balls.

Also, is wrong that as a Liverpool fan since near birth, I am tempted by the new White and Blue third kit simply because we'll probably never see it again?

Agreed. No way will Ba get that much wages, it'd be poor decision making if he does. Nolan will be missed, but there's no way we could realistically compete with that contract, I don't think he's got 5 years of top flight football left in him.

Will miss the chicken celebrations though :(

I do not understand RL and the board on this one, I do not understand at all.

Our manager should have the following characteristics.

1.) A track record of wide, fast, counter-attacking football (which is how our current team lineup are most suited to playing imho)

2.) A track record of building up a young squad over time

3.) A good defensive and discipline record

4.) Solid international experience or a good EPL track record.

5.) Someone who is well regarded by the Villa fans (this matters, see Dalglish)

6.) Can operate within a budget.

As far as I can tell McLeish has two of these things (3&6). Why not take our time and find one with all six? Makes no sense to me at all. What REALLY freaks me out is we have obviously not put any thought into this. The guy becomes available and next thing you know we just latch on to him.

Dont understand it.
