Interesting line in the Metro that says Meireles is up for sale for £13.5 mill. It would explain Henderson I guess.
Hmm.

It's in Meireles' contract that he has to get an improved contract. He's only on £30k per week.
Meireles was a great buy even if he does jump out of tackles. He seemed to do well in Kenny's pass and move mentality.

From the Journal in a story that SAFC seem confident O'Shea, Gibson and Brown will all sign:

"The Frenchman [N'Gog] was due to receive a hefty pay hike if he stayed at Liverpool this season and Sunderland are unwilling to match that sum.

Given the size of his pay rise, it is little wonder Liverpool have agreed to sell him as part of the £20m deal that took Jordan Henderson to Merseyside.

But the deal could collapse unless Liverpool are willing to help with the cost of his wages or reduce the fee so the striker can be given a lump sum up front to persuade him to accept the terms on offer on Wearside."

If there is a god...

TalkSPORT are saying that PSG have opened the bidding on Berbatov at £10 mill. I'd hope to get closer to £15 mill.
I hope he doesn't go at all.Berbatov is a fantastic player.I was talking to a few friends who support Liverpool and they're convinced that Pato is joining them from Milan.I'm assuming thats complete rubbish right?

They can't afford him and don't have Champions League football to offer. Maybe they'll get Aguero instead? :lol

Apparently they're talking about possibly signing Pato AND Aguero which I find rather hilarious. The transfer fees for both would be around 90m on top of whatever ridiculous amount they'll get in wages.Anyway Pato is dating Berlusconis daughter,he wouldnt be able to leave even if he wanted to. :p

Who aren't we trying to sign right now? Well apart from Young and Jones.

Ashley Young officially signed now at United

I saw in the Mail this morning them touting £11million from PSG, I'd hope to get closer to £15m too but I'd take £12-13 for him. Berba has great talent I just still don't think he's right for United.

Yeah, I trust Ferguson's judgment on this personally.

Pleased with the Young signing. I know others aren't but I like to think they'll come round to it. I felt the same about Valencia when he came to us. He totally changed my mind about him though.

Mata to Liverpool at least sounds plausible. He's also a great player.Nasri still hasnt signed a new deal with Arsenal.Whats happening there?

I've still got a massive question mark with regards to Mata to Liverpool, would be very good if true tho, wouldn't mind missing out on young if we got Mata

-------------De Gea-----------
Fabio--Ferdinand--Vidic--Evra
Nani--Carrick--Anderson--Young
-------------Rooney--------------
------------Hernandez-----------

I'd like to see this as our first team next season (assuming we aren't buying any midfielders).

The pace of Nani, Anderson, Young, Rooney and Hernandez is a pretty mouthwatering prospect.

It also leaves us with fantastic options from the bench in Giggs, Park, Valencia, Berbatov, Welbeck etc.

Mata would be an amazing signing, but he came out and said he's happy at Valencia, so who knows?

Has anything else been mentioned about Liverpool's interest in Zapata? It blew up over twitter but haven't heard anything since.

I thought that was earlier in the week? He's too old unless we get him on the cheap which won't happen.
Well I haven't heard of any "new" midfield rumours since then, so I just assumed it was the most recent.

I hadn't heard about that,if he says he's happy then it would be much harder for Liverpool to sign him if even they are interested. But on a different subject, the Nasri situation still intrigues me.

Xabi to United would never happen in a million years, this is the guy who professes his love to Liverpool on a monthly basis

Me too. Especially since it's all gone eerily silent on that front. Maybe he really is waiting to see who Arsenal are signing before he jumps ship?

Story here. Seems fairly definite but wouldn't be the first to say he's happy then move a few weeks later.

I've heard rumours of Pato too, that's all they are at the moment though, so I'm not exactly confident we'll sign him. We were meant to be "in talks" over Aguero at some point in the last couple of weeks, but nothing else has been heard. We certainly won't be signing both of them, if either.

Have we heard about who Arsenal are interested in this summer,Gervinho?Wenger needs to make a few signings to strengthen his team and keep the players he has happy.Just like Fergie needs to sign a bloody midfielder.

I'm happy with the Young signing. All things considered £17m is a fair price for him considering his English tax and that a few clubs were interested.

It's a smart signing, he is proven in the PL (pretty much 10 goals, 10 assists on average for a few seasons) and is versatile so it provides further depth and cover for a few positions. Our wing options are key to the way we play and we now have 3 of the top 5 in the league IMO all at a good age. Hopefully Young can take his game to the next level with better players around him on a bigger stage. I'll be interested to see how he does in Europe.

£50m spent then if/when De Gea goes through. Getting £10m back off Sunderland and i expect a couple of other players to leave too (Kuzscack/Macheda). Not sure what the situation is with Berbatov, his agent has said he wants to stay but they need to speak with the club so him leaving is certainly a possibility. For me it makes sense, said it before, great player but not the right fit at United and the direction the team is headed in. He has a year left on his contract, at 31 I doubt we will want to renew on biggish wages so this is the last chance to recoup some money for him. If he leaves I'd expect £10-12m. However that will be a further change in the squad again and I'm not sure SAF wants to lose him. Will be interesting to see where this one goes.

I don't no why Utd have bought. We don't need another winger, though maybe he will be utilised as a forward. Still not impressed with the deal
United struggled a lot while Valencia was out with injury. When he came back and Nani was put on the left wing and Nani played poorly.Young can play on both wings and through the middle so has great versatility. He also has more assists than just about anyone in the PL over the last 5 years.

As always with SAF it's a deal done with the future in mind. We have 3 wingers now who are all nearing their peak years who are all proven in the PL. With Park and Giggs more and more played centrally and Bebe and Obertan being shit, we've sorted a crucial part of our squad out for maybe up to 5 years.

Second only to Cesc.

Fair enough. Where do you lads expect Cleverley to be utilised? If he isn't loaned of course

A bit pricey, Young that is. But meh, he's a solid player.

And it's starting to look like United isn't going to buy a midfielder again... Heh.

Cleverley would be better suited playing through the middle I think. But having said that I think he is still a bit too young to break into the squad next season. He's certainly a great prospect for the future though as is Morrison. If that nutjob can avoid jail of course.

This year is make or break for him. I'll temper my judgment but I've never been particularly impressed by him. I've seen better youth players leave United.

Similarly to Gibson IMO. Mostly in CM but occasionally out wide if we need to reshuffle. a much better option than Gibson I reckon so glad we are planning on keeping him and seeing how he develops.

So I just read Altintop needs surgery and will miss the first few games.

I still don't really get why Mourinho wanted him at all...

What does he provide that someone like Pedro Léon doesn't?

Apropos, I've always felt that Mourinho's biggest weakness was his transfers. He's bought a lot of dross (some over priced dross at that) at the clubs he's been at.
