Hoping a game does badly is probably a bit much, and the attacks on the developers are unnecessary, but I think it's fine to not be in favour of games that sacrifice gameplay for a cinematic angle that includes shallow gameplay that has been done to death numerous times. It's not a direction I want AAA games to go in.

I'm baffled by people who expected its MC to end up in the 80s. Sometimes you just know that a game is destined for critical mediocrity, and The Order has been headed that way for a long time. Shame, as the universe looks great, but it seems like they took their priorities a bit too far.

I have no problem whatsoever with placing a massive focus on being filmic, but if you do it to the extent that you start to lose sight of the other things that matter, you run the risk of making something that most people just don't like much.

Unless you go all-out like TWD and Heavy Rain did, where the gameplay isn't even worth talking about, since it may as well have not existed.

@CCS, that's just it. This isn't Naughty Dog with UC3. This is a studio with a legit panned game rather than an underwhelming one, and no history of commercial success to have earned them the good will for Sony to let them carry on as they were. Think there'll be layoffs at the very least unless marketing pull a fucking blinder, as they did with Destiny. Then again, that had the Bungie name attached, and The Order doesn't even seem to have good reviews from non-entities to shove at the back end of TV ads

Has all the makings of a critical and commercial flop, with bad ramifications for everyone involved.

Tbh I think this just goes to show how good of a devs Naughty Dog our and I'm willing to give RAD time, this is their first AAA game, I think you can tell through niavety. When you go into the AAA sphere games unfortunaltey cant be just for you, even though I disagree with alot of what has been said, a vast majority of people have spoken. Lack of Content, too much QTE, not enough replayability etc. I hope the learn from this and make a better game next time round. The Order is a good platform to spring board from.

I look on The Order a bit like I did on David Moves at Man Utd. It didn't work, even though I wanted it to, but I hope that in the future they find success. A failure that will hopefully lead to better things.

I'm still going to play it, and funny thinhs is, I am probably going to enjoy it more than the open bullshit gallery most gaming press jizz over.

Yeah, free choice is the best. Maybe just restrict the choice of teams to clubs, but even there I'm up for whatever people think.
