Arsenal should take Ozil with them while negotiating with players!

edit: Guys let's go after Kovacic. Inter are wasting him giving him nothing but sub appearances.

wait, he's supposed to be good? I know absolutely nothing about him so I just assumed he was shit since he plays for them.

Why do you want another attacking midfielder?

He's not. He plays in a midfield 2, but he's very attacking oriented. Sort of like Thiago. Both can play as attacking midfielders, but both can also play deeper. That's the sort of midfielder United need because Cleverley, Carrick, etc... are all too passive and sit too deep.

you had me at will riot.

YES MOYES

his attacking stats are very Cleverley oriented

Attacking stats will be underwhelming when you come off the bench more than you start. It lowers the key passes per game stat, gives you less chance to get an assist or goal, etc...

Cleverley doesn't attempt to dribble at players, doesn't attempt to making a through pass, very rarely attempts a shot, and his overall movement is lackluster.

He must have changed position then. He played behind the striker when we played them last season.

I just checked whoscored and he has played behind the striker a couple of times. Looks like he alternates between playing there and playing in a midfield 2. A lot like Thiago where there were questions whether he was disciplined enough to play deeper than behind the striker.

Kovacic still has to develop, but he's a good prospect.

Bungie is right I think

He also gets subbed in for Kuzmanovic.

From this Guardian article:

Moyes admitted that he takes direction from Van Persie regarding when the forward feels in condition to play and for how long.

"I have taken Robin's advice on where he feels he is at, if he is ready to play and how long he feels he is able to play. All the things I am doing I am taking from Robin. He is a player who is so important to us. I need to know exactly where he is at."

Is this really wise? I thought they had specialists manage player fitness. It immediately brings to mind the one time Lucas came on the pitch feeling fine before being hauled off in the opening fifteen minutes.

I don't think Carrick was ever an extremely attacking minded midfielder, but Fergie definitely bred out what ever ability he had to do it. He kept pushing him deeper the worse our midfield got. I remember him getting forward a lot more when he was first at the club, of course he had Scholes next to him.

Arsenal didn't make loan bids for Kalou or Vucinic. I think they made bids to join Arsenal. Neither were considered.
John Cross is a bellend but I think he's right here. Wenger was so dismissive on the whole Vucinic as soon as it was mentioned to him and there's no way in hell we bid for Kalou.

The Cisse one is also bullshit.

Mirko and his family rejected Arsenal/London. Or rather their loan offer.

They wanted to stay in Italy which is why he was pushing for Inter.

All according to Italian sources. Virtually nothing from English press on it unlike the Draxler story.

his agent mentioned Arsenal by name, a couple of times.

I'd be worried if you weren't interested in more than ONE target.
Interest is one thing, bid is another thing. No one is denying the interest but it's the bid/agreement that is being denied. Vucinic is a talented player, no shame in being linked to him

As for Kalou and Cisse that was paper shit taking the piss.

Wenger's denials of scouting ZahALLAH were bullshit too.
Everyone lies. Schakle denied any approaches for Draxler too. That was a lie.

How many agents lie? All I'm saying is all the reporters who follow Arsenal reported nothing unlike the Zaha, Draxler, Suarez, Ozil etc pursuits where we were regularly in the papers with links.

Sounds like every party involved took far too long to decide where they stood regarding Konoplyanka. Doubt it will make or break our season, but a real shame. Especially just 12 months after a couple of shrewd January signings improved us tenfold.

FSG sabotage, bro

Makes me wonder.

16m isn't an insignificant amount, have to assume that the funds were there in the circumstances of panic-buying and simply rating Konoplyanka higher than Salah. Imagine we went for Salah as he was more readily available.

That money has to be added to the summer fund, rather than replacing it. A battleship is nothing without a sufficient warchest :p

I truly hope that Rodgers has some masterplan in mind to justify the lack of effort to bring a DM in. And hopefully not the type of masterplan he had before the Villa match.
