Eto'o, Drogba and Anelka to be Anzhi's new front 3.
I would actually really enjoy seeing that

Clearly you're forgetting about their 68 million bid for Falcao. And Lacina Traore is a beast already for them. Plus Hiddink says Anzhi will no longer buy old players.

First time I watched Messi play was against Chelsea in the CL, all the hype was about Ronaldinho and how great he was playing. Messi was the best player that night and iirc, he got a Chelasea player sent off (Ferrera?) and was injured too.

It was Del Horno, he plays for Levante now. And yeah I remember Messi in that game, a 17 year old kid who terrified Chelsea's defence. God looking back at it I feel like Messi has been there forever and he's still 25.

So I was reading the ever reliable russian press and they are saying that the Zenit board of directors met earlier today and approved the 50 million dollar bid for Hulk. And apparently Zenit has set a deadline for tomorrow for Porto to decide.

Well I'd rather get Nani for 25 million but hey it's not my money.

Yes, get that overpriced player. Leave our Nani alone!

I remember a story that after Barça won a league title, Ronaldinho, Belletti and Deco came to Messi's house to pick him up to go partying, but were greeted by Messi's mother who told them he had already gone to bed. The contrast!

This was not in the book, at least I am 99% sure it wasn't, but it sounds like one of the other anecdotes about him from it.

Lets just wait a few years. Messi to have the body shape of Maradona and snort coke off transgendered hookers butts in Argentina when home on vacation, Ronaldo (the original) style. Then Ronaldo will finally be the best footballer, at least until Bebe gets his real breakthrough on the international scene.

From the videos I have seen, Maradona had the body shape of Maradona in his prime and he was still amazing. I'm not sure that is enough.

If Nani is certain to leave and Fergie is actually tired of his inconsistency, it's better to sell him now for a decent price than wait till next summer, when he'll only have around a year/6 months left on his contract.

There may only be 4 days of the transfer window remaining but United will surely have their targets that they've scouted for a while. There is enough time for a deal to be made with another club if United really want a player.

As far as I know, Messi idolised Ronaldinho (who wouldn't) and would go out with him and Deco and basically, live an unprofessional lifestyle. I think it's in Graham Hunter's book, after a match against Celtic when Messi pulled his hamstring some of the clubs management decided to completely plan Messi's lifestyle. What he ate, when, how he should stretch, how much he should sleep, every last detail. Ronaldinho was a problem anyway but he was distracting Messi too so they kicked him out.

The story of Messi at Barca really is quite something, so many different people at that club have moulded that player. The scouts, coaches, managers, players but the club directors too. They're reaping the rewards of all the time and money theyve invested.

C.Ronaldo treats his body as a temple. He's always had immense self discipline. I wish he had rubbed off on Rooney. The fatty smokes and drinks himself out of shape.

Messi and Ronaldo are who every young kid, who have dreams of playing football at the highest level, should model themselves after abillity, physical and dick-wise.

Always ends on August 31st (September 1st @ midnight) and January 31st (February 1st @ midnight).

Russian league transfer window is open until Sept. 9th because I know all of you care so much. Anyone know when the Champions League player registration deadline is?

To be a top player you don't need just skills but the right mentality as well. This because even more true if you want to be the best of the best.

I don't know if you guys know of Fábio Paím but he is considered by many at Sporting CP to be the most talented youth player they've ever had (yes more than C. Ronaldo, Figo, Nani, etc). C. Ronaldo said something like "If you think I'm good, just wait until you see Fábio Paím". Due to some management errors from Sporting (like paying him more through bonuses per year while he was < 18 than some of their senior players) and his delinquent mentality of partying and preferring to bang chicks than playing with balls he fell into obscurity. He ruined what could have been a great career. It's a shame. If he had the right entourage he could have been one the greats, instead he plays for a 2nd division Portuguese team after being unsuccessful at Luanda...

You can watch this doc about him (if you know Portuguese) here: http://youtu.be/G9We7sTu7Hg

Holy fuck, the transfer window is about to close. Didn't even notice it.

Should be some great couple of days ahead. Please, no more deadline day madness for me.

Ha, I remember when we took him on loan.

Messi records of 2012/2013 season (already?)

First Barca player in 43 years to score 2 goals in the first 20 minutes of Match Day 1 of La Liga (Miguel Angel Bustillo, 1969/70)

First Barca player in 19 years to score in 3 consecutive match Day 1's of La Liga season (Hristo Stoichkov, 1991-1993)

The only player this cenury to score a total of 7 goals on Match Day 1 of La Liga (Forlan = 6, Negredo = 5)

The 2nd player in history of Barca to score 14 Clasico goals (Cesar Rodriguez)

The only player in the history of Barcelona to score 7 golas at Camp Nou vs Real Madrid

The only player in history of the Spanish Super Cup to score in 4 consecutive editions (2009,2010,2011,2012)

The only player for any club to score a brace each of the first 2 games of the league season

The player who scored the most goals against Osasuna 10 for Barcelona (Eto = 8)

Ballon d'or this year must be imminent

Well, I am actually more surprised about Nani going than Rooney (assuming the rurmours are true). That whole transfer saga probably didn't go down well with Ferguson and he certainly took the club and us fans for a ride.

Rumours abound that we've sold him.

Well that would be intriguing, but the mere possibility that any club in the world is stupid enough to believe that Savic has somehow improved his value in the last 12 months is fucking astonishing to me, to the point where I'd need someone from the BBC to bellow the words at me during the news for me to believe it.

A swap plus cash for Nastasic just makes far more sense at this moment in time, and as far as I'm aware it's come from better sources.

Also, this blew my mind, time for bed:

I basically agree. We signed him for 7m apparently so anymore than that is a bonus.

I honestly can't remember him having a good game. I feel bad for the lad, he's not a bad player, but seems to crumble under pressure and never look sure of himself. He's slow too.

Hopefully he either stays and improves or gets his chance elsewhere.

I remember him being a CM4 legend. 20 for dribbling, etc. Players with 20 for dribbling were amazing in that game.

Couldn't watch it. Almost threw up.

What the heck you have against Shinji? Not like he's been showing off or whatever or being a general douche like Suarez usually is.

Kida, awesome link btw. Pretty sure Kagawa will be one of the main cogs of this United team for a long time.

if only kagawa was digging up rats from the bin and breaking into council houses instead scoring goals

that would've brought his appetite back
