We were nearly in the conference yet we just had a stable League One season.

Our club had nearly given up, but a cup run genuinely changed us around.

Which is why I get annoyed so many clubs send out their U12s in the Carling Cup. "joke trophy" blah blah blah, but a deep run in that can rejuvenate a club's league form

Look at Sheffield United this year. Relegation places, great FA cup run...couple of places outside the playoffs.
