Can't believe Ecuador keeps getting to the World Cup just because nobody can play on their idiotic altitude in home games.

Last qualification: 22/24 points in home games, 3/24 points in away games.

Has anyone ever seen Giroud move this fast?

You English fans are so funny. Liverpool fans are piling all the blame on Rooney while conveniently ignoring the unsuitability of Gerrard in a defensive role while playing in a two man midfield. United fans who should actually be aware that Rooney is "shit" because he is playing in the wrong role are also piling on him because of some of the field issues.

Truth is, the system England currently employs is one that doesn't fit their players; Gerrard, and to a lesser extent, Henderson are terrible in a 4231 or 442 two man midfield. They are much more functional in a 3 man midfield, with Gerard playing the defensive/pivot role; Henderson playing the b2b role with a third man (in England's case, probably Wilshere playing the Coutinho role) a bit ahead as the creative man.

Rooney....as far as I am concerned is a striker; a No 9. The best you have got in that role. Yes Sturridge is very good, but IMO Rooney is better. Sure, in his career he hasn't always played there due to a number of reasons; the need of the team, the tactics, the availability of a better player in his preferred role, his ability to fill into several position etc. But for the 2 seasons he actually played as a classic number 9, he hit 30+ goals in both. Even the few occasions he played as a no 9 for us last season he managed to score in all of them. So I am sorry if he is shit a a winger (he isn't a winger), or inadequate as a num10 (he isn't a CAM).

A 433 system would have fit the current England side a whole lot better with Gerard, Henderson and Wilshere as the midfield three, and Sterling, Rooney and Sturridge as the front 3. If you are going to use a lot of Liverpool players, try and use a formation that they are effective in.

But even the 4231 would work better with Barry and maybe Wilshere. Barry is far more disciplined in the DM role. Lallana or to a lesser extent Ross Barkley in the No10 role, Rooney or Sturridge up front. Sterling and Ox on either side.

But even at that, you have a lot of problem at the back, starting with your keeper.

Anyway, this is just my opinion on the matter.

Oh, you should try and sack Hogdson ASAP.

I was watching on my phone and was like damn! Off the post! And then they're saying goal -- was so confused. Pretty funny what happened.

This is pretty much what all the Liverpool fans in this thread have been saying (though many of us would argue Sturridge is better at the #9 role than Rooney, based on the last 18 months)

Well Rooney got you the goals during the qualifiers and in a 433 system, you get to eat your cake and have it, as it were. Sturridge sometimes play WR with Suarez driving through the middle. Of course Suarez's dynamism means that he can drop wide from time to time, as the play takes him, with Sturridge moving in to the central role at those times. The same can be applied here with Rooney (though clearly not as tricky a customer as Suarez) replacing Suarez.

On a side note, it would have been interesting to see how Rooney would have performed in a No9 role in Chelsea, but from the way most united fans reacted to the news at the time its clear we all know he would have been very good for them.

It would be nothing short of a disaster. Harry is a nutjob.

England needs a manager like Rodgers, Martinez etc who will utilise the limited England resources to their fullest.

Redknapp is a shit manager. What's he ever won? fuck all except that FA cup with Portsmouth.

People act like he's Fergie or something and he's going to come in and save England. He's a useless tax dodging cunt.
