Midfield is where the game is won and lost and right now United aren't anywhere near competing on that font. Just look at who Barca and Bayern have in midfield.

Schweinsteiger, Martinez, Kroos, Gustavo. Then you can add Muller and Gotze as central attacking midfielders. And then you can add Thiago to the mix. It's frightening.

The Barca axis of Busquet/Xavi/Iniesta is the greatest midfield of it's generation. Won World Cups, European Championships, La Ligas and Champions Leagues. It may not be as good as it once was but it's still formidable. Javier Mascherano was one of the best holding midfielders in Europe while at Liverpool but he's now a centre back because he couldn't force his way into that midfield. That's how strong they are/were.

Then look at the strength in depth Juventus have. Pirlo, Marchisio, Pogba, Asamoah and Vidal. Any of those players would walk into our midfield.

We're still competitive because we have an excellent attacking system. But we no longer have the players to actually dominate a game against the big European teams. Madrid are in a similar-ish situation. Alonso is on the decline and Khedira isn't that good. But they still have a high quality midfielder in Modric who is only reaching the peak of his career. And as a club Madrid have no problem in spending millions to fix a problem.

It's very concerning as a United fan.

The feasibility studies have also looked at actually raising the roof and increasing capacity to 70,000.

City were less than &#8364;5m behind Arsenal for 6th most revenue in the world last season but about &#8364;38m behind Chelsea for 5th. Signed a lot of goofy deals lately that may have put us past AFC (hard to say since they got that new kit deal) but more seats will be necessary to push into top 5 I'm sure.
