Well that's fair enough isn't it? If you are offended by both, and you don't use both, you're being consistent.

But umpteen posts go uncommented on every week in here with 'blank is going to murder us', 'we are going to get killed this weekend'. Just because the American media dictate that sex is worse than death and rape is a worse term to use than murder doesn't mean I think they are, and I wouldn't necessarily modify my behaviour to display that.

Odd that people would pick on Yurt for that and not every time he's used murder.

Do you really want people to jump on anyone every time they say it? I try to be consistent but I'm not going to pretend I've never said anything like that, I just try to be self aware and correct it. I modify my behavior by not using because I think that's the correct thing to do, but I'm not trying to be thought police on forums.

I didn't jump on Yurt when he said it the first time, a lot of people do and at least I try to participate in the appropriate threads, but I did enter the conversation when there was a dismissive reaction.

Like I said, it's a logical fallacy. Both are wrong, one is more culturally accepted for a variety of reasons that are too much to discuss here, but that shouldn't mean we are OK with both. Ideally, one should be aware of the double standard and try to counteract it, but it's still pedantic to say: "oh, so you are offended by rape, but not murder, or people who say retarded, or blackface" etc etc.

What's wrong with trying to change the way we think about words and the things we say, even if several reasons we can do it a few at a time? I mean, I know what you are doing, and I think that trying to veer the conversation from that specific term it's a bit of misguided reaction too. We can't change every way people think about every thing, but we can to at least raise an issue, a bit at a time.

Anyway, football.

LvG just said Falcao's simply not been picked.

Bit odd, not like Wilson's really more deserving of a place.

Probably because he was picked for a short string of games, but yes to your second point. I don't get it either.

But it's Van Ghoul, so maybe "give youth a chance" is like rule #2 of the philosophy or something *shrugs*

He loves Wilson. Januzaj scores for fun in the u21s and can't win over Gaal despite having the same shit impact as Wilson in the first team this season. I like both talents, and it's weird to see one preferred over the other considering their performances at both u21 and first team level have been the same.

Guess this means Falcao is not in LVGs plans anymore. Rooney, RVP and Wilson as our 3 forwards... I dunno what to think.

At the start of the season I wud have been ok with it. But after having seen Falcao in United and with us I now feel kind of disappointed we have only 2 top class strikers. Maybe we will be in the market for another striker... cavani maybe?
