I can't get my head around why today he was used as a striker and Rooney was a midfielder.
Gaal messed up.

I thought we were okay in the 1st half and got into some decent positions, but the final ball/move was lacking. In the 2nd half after the subs, everything went downhill.

It's worrying because LvG doesn't like to move away from what he believes and sticks to it. If he genuinely believes 352 is the way forward and Rooney is a box to box midfielder, I doubt we'll see much change. Must have hurt him when Koeman said we suck at building from the back with a 3 man defence.

are we gala?

I like the home kit, it would be better with only 1-2 sponsors but still looks good. Send me one m8

I'm so fucking happy that Caceres is finally back. Hopefully his shoulder is fine.

We needed him like water.

Now if only Beardzagli ...

the real question is will he learn from this and take this as a chance to move away from the dreaded 352 or will he double down on his hubris?

either way, we'll see, but I have to say, the mask is starting to slip

HAHAHAHAHAHA omg I just read the last few pages, little cunts afraid of barca again LMAO, I guess they thought we were as good as dead. If anything be afraid of bayern you fools...

I'm glad we still have potential with LE or not.

At least with Moyes it was hilarious when Utd lost at home. Maybe it's just diminished expectations or maybe it was because the game was so dull it was putting me to sleep but I barely even chuckled at the end of today's match.

he'll double down on it. I don't like wishing injury on players, but an injury was the only way Gaal was going to drop Persie. I don't think he would of dropped Persie all season at this rate. Blessing in disguise, the Falcon may finally rise. If Roopney goes down with one we might actually see a midfield get strung together with Herrera.

It's strange.

They're on the same points as Moyes' United but don't seem half as bad.

Can't tell why, they are. Just that the rest of the league has also slipped.

We need to maintain our current form and climb on upwards.

Part of it is other teams have slipped as you say, the other is we don't hear Moyes' embarrassing rhetoric after games which compounded our misery.

Also me bad if it's been posted by surprised by Charlton sacking big Bob Peeters

been poor recently but dunnae what the expectations are over there. That league is tough, maintaining a playoff push takes summat good.

I think the thing about Moyes is that relatively speaking United weren't that bad until this time last year. We were struggling on the pitch but iirc we were around top 4 by the start of 2014. Things only started to melt down after that. Moyes final few months were a complete disaster for a club of United's stature. Won 9 and lost 8 or something like that. The current United team hasn't sunk to those levels of consistent ineptitude.

Well Van Gaal's English proficiency is on the same level as a 5-year-old from Sunderland.
It's what he says, not how he delivers it.

Sometimes his ego can come across well and as a manager you need it, but his belligerence has put United into some "egg on face" positions as of late.

Didn't help himself over Christmas by moaning about fixture congestion and then barely rotating.

What Gaal has in his favour is a team full of new faces getting used to each other, Moyes can make no such excuse, he inherited a team of champions, a team which has since been gutted Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Scholes, Giggs and a few others are gone.

That said, we are showing far more fight his season than we were last.

Moyes: Days of Future Past. I'd like to see the future of an alternate timeline where Moyes was kept on for a second year. Would we have gotten Kroos and Fabgegas? Would Moyesus have installed more attacking football? We will never know,.

From Gary Jacob in The Times tomorrow, Yurt I'm so sorry:

Juventus have confirmed a move to sign Mario Balotelli, the striker who has struggled for form and goals since his arrival at Liverpool last summer.
Massimiliano Allegri said that he wanted to re-sign his former player on loan, with talk of a £14 million permanent option this summer, despite him failing to score a single league goal this season.
The Juventus coach briefly worked with Balotelli at AC Milan. “We would like to recruit him, but we do not know if it’s possible,” Allegri said. “Mario had a good season with me. Unfortunately he’s built up a character outside the world of football and everyone talks about what he does off the pitch. All coaches love to lead the best players.”

● Liverpool are expected to sell Oussama Assaidi to Al-Ahli, the Dubai-based club, in a deal that could be worth up to £4.7 million. Assaidi’s loan spell with Stoke City has been terminated to allow the winger, 26, to make a permanent move. He cost £2.4 million from Heerenveen in 2012.

Pretty sure we would've signed neither. When Madrid made their interest known there was only one place he was ending up. As for Fabregas, the only chance we had was the summer Moyes took over. Think the club felt that they were strung along by him and didn't go after him with much purpose the following year.

We say £14 million, Marotta won't have to pay a penny in the summer because we'll just use him as a Pogba makeweight.

£30 million and Balotelli.

Thank you, enjoy the money.

From the Guardian

Messi said:
Lionel Messi has denied that he demanded Barcelona sack their manager, Luis Enrique, and says he has no intention of leaving the club, describing reports linking him to Chelsea or Manchester City as “lies”.

At the end of a week of crisis Messi broke his silence on the club’s TV channel after Barcelona’s 3-1 victory over Atlético Madrid.

“I have never demanded anything to stay because I don’t have any intention of going,” he said. “I heard people say that my dad had spoken to Chelsea, to City … it’s all lies.”

“I heard all sorts of things said. I never come out and deny [stories] but this time I am. It has been said that I have pushed out lots of people … Eto’o, Ibrahimovic, Bojan, Guardiola … [and] I didn’t ask them to sack our manager.

“It’s not good for people to look for rivalry between me and Luis Enrique because there isn’t any,” Messi added.

“It hurts because it comes from people who [supposedly] love Barcelona. It’s people who want to hurt the club – and this time it did not come from Madrid, like other times, it has come from here. I have heard lots of things being said about me before and now. They make it look like I am the one who is in charge here when I am just another player.

“Don’t throw shit at us from outside because that will only do us harm.”
