Barca's problem is that they never have a different approach. And that's fundamentally it. They're too obsessed with their philosophy to be able to react to any plan that does focus on stopping them. They just try and count on the fact its been successful in the past + Messi to drag them through. Football's an ever changing, evolving sport and for a team which has paved the way for modern football, they're falling behind. I just don't understand how a team so tactically sound can only have one tactic.

I agree with this. I love possession approach to beat games. But that's not the only way and it shouldn't be. I have said it before... if it wasn't for messi and iniesta, the system would have collapsed long before

Were it that simple then Barca would be finishing lower in the league. The truth of the matter is Barca have remained steadfast to their approach because 8 out of 10 it works. We've seen sides play deep against them for several years now and still succumb to defeat. When Inter Milan knocked them out a few years ago by being one of the few sides to successfully counter Barca's football, you once again had a few people here lamenting Barca for having no plan B but we cant expect Barca to win every game.

Who is to say their defeats in the last few weeks have come from fatigue or a lack of focus rather than philosophy? How can we call into question that philosophy when it has brought them so much success just because they've lost a marginal amount of matches? It's illogical. If we're going to judge a team's approach based on their results, then we should ask why aren't more teams trying to adopt tika taka/possession football?

They may not be as strong as they were in 2010, but they arguably still the best club side in Europe despite their current form.

How many Utd fans would prefer to meet Barca in the UCL than Madrid?

Poor ol' Barca. They're going to get screwed over by Milan.

But 8 out of 10 times they're playing weak teams. They've come up against two strong ones this week and lost all three times. It's not that they should immediately turn to a plan B, but it must be frustrating as fuck for their fans to see them 2-1 down and there's no injection of pace or energy or fight against their biggest rivals. Why aren't they focused? Why aren't they ignoring the fatigue and trying to score against Real Madrid?

I'd still place them as number one on the list of teams in Europe, and I wouldn't necessarily want to play them, but I wouldn't be scared of them because I'd have every confidence we could adapt to them.

It works against the minnows of La Liga, where Barcelona and Real Madrid can effectively outspend all of their opponents by 10x. We can't really use the league as an effective test for Barcelona when the gap between the big clubs and the small clubs is so big.

All Bayern fans want Americans to die.

That post had nothing to do with football or Bayern.

Thanks all. She was really struggling the past couple days, so I was going to take her the Monday. I put her on a cushion today and she passed away peacefully. It's weird, I've had her since I was 4. I'm glad she had such a long life though, I only hope the same for my other cats

I don't think blaming Roura is that fair to be honest. He's handling a job he obviously didn't want at the worst of times.

he is not to blame because he should not be guiding barca to begin with. I blame rosell and gm for letting our DT be away for 4 months... that's not professional. You should have appointed a real DT for 6 months and let tito recover without this trouble.

Frogson quotes summarised

"He [Kagawa] is a good finisher. His injury in October, November set him back a bit, but he's getting his form back slowly and gradually. His second and third, in particular, were terrific.

"Ryan Giggs will be involved against Real Madrid, no doubt about it. It's a great moment, a great example for all young players to reach 1,000 games as a professional.

"We've got a cushion, I expect City to win on Monday against Villa."
