How is it nonsense? If you are interested in knowing the best young players in other leagues, there's no better way to discover them. I mean, it's not like Papadopoulos is new on the scene either. He's been a first choice CB for his NT for years now but since Hitcher only knows the PL (nothing wrong with this by any means) AND doesn't play FM, he isn't aware of that. FM teaches you about the best players in Europe and abroad, young and old.
Its ridiculous to say that a proper football fan needs to play a computer game to consider himself one.

And getting yourself clued up on players is nice but its in no way a requirement.

Lol, I strongly disagree. Most FM wonderkids end up being mediocre. And at least for Russia and Ukraine, and I assume for the other second-tier league FM has no idea about any promising young players.

There's a fuckton of players in the world, of course they're gonna miss sometimes. Scouts in general are not infallible. But if you look at all the players who are considered the best young guys in the world, almost all of them were great on FM before hand. I honestly can't remember a single young guy on people's lips right now that wasn't.

I said it's a requirement to know who future stars are. If you're a serious fan of the sport, you're missing out by not playing it and learning more about who to keep an eye on.

I'm about to play my second FA cup final with Rotherham, the first was when I was still in the championship where I in the end lost 5-2 to Chelsea. This time though it's west brom and they are going to get their ass kicked.

He's a monster. Be very curious to see what Udinese does with him. Di Natale still performs at such a high level that I don't think they can squeeze him out yet even if Vydra should be starting for them.

I'm a bit worried looking at this team cause half of it is on loan! Brought in Will Hughes and Carlos Fierro as permanent deals.

Tom Carroll on loan for the season.

But you're really not missing out on anything. Football manager is just as miss as it is hit when it comes to rating young players.

And in no way is it a requirement to be clued in to who all the young, talented players are.

FM will give you a name, position, the club he plays for, and his nationality. That doesn't really mean much. You will still know fuck all about a player.

Watching more games will inform you of players. Hell, you can just watch the youth world cups, toulon tournaments, and other youth tournaments.

Obviously watching real matches with players gives you a better look at them, but the scouting that goes into FM shouldn't be underestimated, it's pretty insane to be honest.

You sound like ultra fan juan here Meier. I've never played a FM game and I don't think that makes me any less of a fan of the sport, nor do I feel I'm missing out on anything.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
Irish newspapers are saying AVB is interested in signing James Mc Carthy.

I wouldn't mind. He's combative, tidy on the ball and has good energy. I'd have him over Parker and Livermore. Chuck out Huddlestone in favour of Carroll and with Holtby now playing as a CM I think that might be it for our midfield signings. If it means we sign two strikers I'm all for it.

In other Spurs news:

Tottenham midfielder Andros Townsend has been charged with alleged betting offences by the Football Association.

The 21-year-old, who spent the second half of the season on loan at QPR, has until 3 June to respond.

He has withdrawn from England's Under-21s European Championship squad, with Birmingham's Nathan Redmond drafted in.

"Townsend will receive the full support of the FA and Tottenham in seeking rehabilitation while responding to the allegations," the FA said.

The winger made 12 Premier League appearances for Rangers, scoring twice.

Andros you plonker. Could get a lengthy ban if he's done something as dumb as betting on matches he's going to play in.

Yann M’Vila, Rubin Kazan

Once a target for seemingly every top club in Europe, many decided against signing M'Vila because of his apparent disciplinary problems. With France’s U-21 side he was suspended for organising an unauthorised night out with fellow members of the squad -- he’s suspended from the national team until next year -- then later was the victim of an embarrassing robbery by two prostitutes.

Incredibly, M’Vila has run into trouble in this respect again -- and faces jail if found guilty of sleeping with a 15-year-old prostitute in Russia. His on-field performance barely seems relevant given his legal problems, but he’s hardly excelled in his four league appearances.

Even Balotelli comes second to this guy when it comes to wasted potential.

My condolences to Napoli fans.

I think he might do very well there, as long as the fans keep their expectations in check. Selling Cavani might be a huge blow for them, but I'm sure De Laurentiis will bring at least a couple quality players this summer. Will it be enough for ... scudetto? Only FootballFan knows. <3

Shh, don't fret Timu. Mancini will ease all your worries.

It won't happen. But if it happens ... Oh man.

Anyone creating a dedicated CL thread for the final tomorrow?

Fuck dedicated threads. This one is all we need.

If you think you can have any sort of widespread knowledge on this topic without using what is unequivocally the best source then that's entirely up to you. Ignorance is bliss afterall.
I think your argument is completely ridiculous.

Football manager is a niche game and caters to only a small amount of football fans. There is nothing wrong in getting up to speed on who the brightest young talents are.

However, its silly to turn around and then say you need to to be clued in on who these players are if you want to be considered a proper fan. Do you think even half of match going fans know who the best young talents in world football are? I don't think so. They might be familiar with the name or with the team but that's about it. Are people who don't know who these players not proper fans?

You're sounding rather arrogant now.

I think the vast majority of people play FM so they can take whatever small club (which they may or may not support) all the way to the Champions League final, rather than to find out what young players might be good.

I'd say half of "match going fans" don't even know that much about the players in their own team

I play it to be able to yell cunt at Benitez every week through the press.

Fine, but you'll be in charge of explaining the offside rule to them.

To be fair the last time half the people not getting the offside rule seemed to also be regulars in here lol

M'Vila needs to get the fuck out of that league if he wants to pick himself up and try and show people he still has an ounce of talent. Illegally if it means dodging jail. :lol

Yeah because it's impossible to show that you have talent while playing in Russia.

And M'Vila has never been accused of fucking an underage prostitute in Russia, it was back in France. I think they found his phone details in a cellphone when this underage girl was arrested for shoplifting. Just regular old espn quality reporting. Never trust them on anything happening in Russia.
