Im sure you'll be devastated when you sign a striker that actually makes a worthwhile contribution to the team! Admittedly he got better towards the end of the season (I don't wish to discuss the incredible goal he scored against us), but hes lazy and you deserve better.
From Falcao to Torres.
I think he deserves another chance. He was our best player last year and had a totally disrupted season this time around. I think the fans turned on him way too quickly due to his Arsenal connections, Defoe had a season where he scored just 4 goals but nobody seems to remember that. He showed in the last 5 or 6 games that he can still cut it. Against Chelsea he was bustling past defenders like nobody's business. Perhaps if he'd had a pre-season it would have gone differently, but that's Levy for you.
I don't believe that for a hot minute. There were no rumors about it at all -- just his agent spewing bullshit IMO. Probably trying to force Gala's hand since they're apparently playing hardball with Juve over his permanent fee.

I understand why we're being this way but what I don't understand is why it's okay to spend 40m+ on two players (or three) but not one. [Broken Record Yurt] It's essentially the same and just as risky when you're signing an injured player like Isla.

They can have him for €0m, if they want. Anything to get his wages off the books.
I do think we pretty consistently overpay for a few good-ish players. Matri is not worth €18m, for instance, as much as I like him. But hopefully we've finally reached the point where Marotta is reasonably satisfied with the depth of the club and pulls the trigger on some marquee singings.
I do hope we hang on to Isla, though. I suspect he will have a very different season next year, wherever he ends up.
Supposedly United made an enquiry to him personally sounding out whether he would be receptive to a move but he declined. I think.
