You have to think about the economics of it. Don't wanna go all finance on yo asses but our wage bill is still 20%-30% lower than it is at our rivals City/Chelsea. Now you might argue that's because our players aren't as good...but then that will be why when we sign Thiago we give him £100k/week. Remember Hazard last season, he is reportedly on much more with a hefty agents and signing on fee to boot.
Then you have to think about the increased wealth. In the last 12 months alone United have signed/benefited from deals which means our income goes up some £150m over the next year. The players know that and they will demand a cut of it. I expect wages across the board to go up quite a bit this year as all PL clubs get alot richer.
Finally...we're paying below the market value here. Thiago would normally never be sold for £15m. He knows that, he'll want a nice cut of the money.
But yes - it is alot to pay.
