Oh yeah Linius here's my last.fm since you asked ages ago, the whole scrobbling (what kind of phrase is that, come on PR department) thing doesn't work on my phone because its a walkman app cos its an xperia, but there's a few bands there you might not have heard of.

http://www.last.fm/user/OneSalimKerkar

A few of the bands (Tempa T/Die Antwoord) are nothing like the rest of them by the way.

I'll probably add more at some point but that's all I can be bothered to do for now :p

Ah, cool man! Also never listen to music on your PC/Laptop? Because almost every audio programme (spotify,iTunes,Windowns Media Player etc.) does support scrobbling these days. That way you can still create a bit of musical history for your self.

Beastie boys, the police, the boss and Beck...Not bad despite of Weezer and u2.

Time outro tune, okay
Pointless wankery
Overlong Time intro
1. Quality song
Enjoyable wankery (would be better without the woman caterwauling over it)
2.Money ((shit song from recollection)even worse on proper listen))
Okay, Money gets pretty good 3 minutes in
Eugh, back to normal. Instrumental wasn't long enough
Church organs. Nice piece of easy listening.
Is that a saxaphone? Instrumental ruined.
3. Dunno what its called, seems a decent song once the saxophonist pipes down
Overlong outro. Or is it the intro to the next song? Or is it a song on its own? Fuck knows
Nice guitar effects
4. Semi-decent song about lunatics or something. Dark Side of the Moon mentioned. Dreadful verses.
Album outro. Sounds like a song from a Willy Russell play

And so ends the greatest album of all time. 43 minutes, 4 proper songs, only one of which I like enough to listen to more than once

What Pink Floyd album is next? There is clearly something there that I might be able to fall in love with if they focussed on what (for me) they seem best at, so I'll carry on with them on the off-chance that it happens at some point.

My experience of prog rock is that one of the more attractive features is that there's quite often a narrative that threads through albums. A good example of this is Mars Volta, if you fancy taking a punt.

Our compatibility is low? Bullshit last.fm </3
Not really though, but only cos I have the world's shittiest netbook and its not worth the effort. Honestly I checked once and my phone has more RAM, its kind of depressing. I'll be getting a proper laptop in a few months time though.

I'd say I like about 4 U2 songs, and like 5 Weezer songs. Bono is a top quality singer, despite his cuntish ways :p and weezer... uh... I don't have an excuse lined up for them

Get out of my Hotline Miami, Quiche

Hearing Wilburys voice was a disappointment. Didn't sound nearly as much like Glenn Bishop. But I think I also heard his mother talk, I liked that.

I can't really pick a favourite Radiohead song. They have so many great songs. I know The National Anthem is amongst my favourites.

And damn, that Mardy Bum version from Glastonbury is so amazing.

Also an intimate version of Corner Stone on the acoustic guitar.
With the ultimate Coldplay troll.

Pretty sure this is heresy in most parts but live performance rarely does it for me. I prefer the tightly constructed levels you get from studio production. Too many bands are shit live. I feel like people assume a live performance is better just cus.

Nah, some bands are just very good at gigs and add more to their studio versions. Arctic Monkeys for once are a band that are great live, they give the crowd great energy and play their songs with fury.

But better examples would be Wilco, The Walkmen or Local Natives. These guys play so good live. Even the vocal parts are just right. I must say I rarely see gigs that are shit. Sometimes though the sound technician just really sucks or the venue just absorbs the sound. That really blows.

Last week at The monkeys gig over here for the last 20 minutes I had some girl behind me who literally sang every fucking word of every song. I mean, that's why we have Alex on that stage, to sing those songs. Some people.

She didn't even boo the Humbug stuff? :p

Yeah I agree with that, I mean often its not the band's fault that a sound technician or something fucks up but meh. Seeing bands live is great don't get me wrong, but the live version is only really better than the album version if there's a lot more emotion for some reason in the singing.

How do you emulate the atmosphere? 50,000 people enjoying the music along with you has its own magic in an open air concert.

As to closed indoor concerts, some auditoriums are supremely better suited to hear sound emanating from the stage than you at home with your stereo speakers.

Plus, hearing live interpretations has its perks over a tightly packed routine ensemble.

Hahahaha not that, I'm a singer, can't help it ;)

They ruined his Coldplay joke by starting to sing it. Eww.

Don't get me wrong about the singing, it's okay. But stick to the chorus or something. That's when everyone is joining in. But during the verses she was almost easier to hear than Alex. That's not what I came for :p

I've seen the odd band play live who have impressed me. That's fair enough, but I often find myself wondering if the money and effort I spent going to se them live was commensurate with the experience.

I've seen a few open air gigs and the atmosphere didn't really enhance the music for me. As you say, open air fucks the acoustics which is a big turn off for me.

As for the variances you get with live performances, they can be really good, but it really depends on the artist.

I have a hard time being entertained long by a band that is shit live, although I guess I do listen to a few pop girls that aren't that great live. But nothing beats an actual good live performance for me.

Usually fucking hate big open air concert like that, tool at Roskilde was one exception though where both the sound and the atmosphere managed to stay intact.

Anyway basements are the superior concert settings

Not sure about the production changes in S4 of Justified, in episode 1 at least. Seems more flashy, less focussed, and less grounded. Also not too thrilled with them turning Raylan into something of a womanizer.

I'm stuck between starting Justified, The West Wing and Hannibal. I'm leaning towards Hannibal because I heard it got cancelled so at least its a short thing :p

Hannibal wasn't cancelled, it's getting a second season.

Oh, I was sure people were complaining in some piracy thread about people downloading it instead of watching it and the the shit ratings were why it got cancelled. That's great though, cos it looked pretty cool. Loved Mads in Casino Royale, feel like he's gonna get typecast as a bad guy though.

I can't recommend Justified enough

I've seen The West Wing pilot and it was pretty great, I'll probably watch the first Justified episode and see how I feel about it
