I was looking at some youtube videos of Kagawas time at Dortmund and he was bloody brilliant.

We need to get him playing like that.

Well, that was an amazing group stage. Won't be sleeping tonight.

My highlights of the campaign:

Forster is an aweful keeper.

Fergie has to play him behind the striker. He's been using Rooney out wide recently so maybe he's planned for that when Kagawa returns. It'll take him time but hopefully he's gelled with the other players and his english has improved.

Phantask is on the same level as Andress. Interprete it as u want.

Don't want to stir shit up but come on now. I think it's funny that you out of all the people are saying something about other users here, just 4 fucking days after your cunt-tirade over Dortmund players. Don't know, man, that's just not cool.

I heard he was getting along with De Gea because they have been learning english together.

I don't think we need a great midfield to get Kagawa playing well. We just need a mobile midfield that can get the ball to him quickly.

We play too slow to get the best out of Kagawa. I think that's the same story with our wingers too. Get the ball out to them while the opposition is scrambling back and we could do some real damage.

Our tactics don't actually match up to the strengths of our players.

Yeah, I think Valencia has suffered in that regard. That run vs Liverpool was great because he had so much space to run with the ball. Most of the time, he just gets the ball in congested areas, forcing him to cross or pass back.

Honestly, if we played like Dortmund... man oh lordy cocks. We've got fast full backs and wingers, Kagawa, van Persie, Rooney isn't a slouch. We've got a number of materials to be able to play like they do, or like we did in 2008/09. We're not as good a team, but its not like we can't play like that if we went for it... but we don't

I love how that Celtic player with the Champions League advancement on the line blasted that penalty in off the cross bar like a savage.

Is Kagawa learning English now? AFAIK he doesn't speak it at all.

Every Japanese person who didn't fail out of high school can speak at least a little English, but even if they're decent at it they'll continue to insist that they don't speak it at all.

They never want to be caught overestimating their abilities.

Interesting info..... I rarely see him speaking on the pitch, it's usually gestures to other players.

The sexy bastard that is Kris Commons would definitely savage you, if you get what I mean. ;)

There was a rumour going around a while back that he had an affair with Stevie Gerrard's wife while he was at Derby and had a superinjunction for it, lol.

Lego didn't have much luck in Blackjack either lol.

Those games are rigged aren't they?
It's rigged in so much as the odds are in favour of the house if the player plays 'by the book' (ie mathematically, the best odds are to hit when 16 or under and stick on above). So a casino should never, in theory, lose on blackjack over a long enough period of time.

i watched the Braga - Galatasaray game. Are Braga supposed to be the Portuguese version of Stoke? Team of thugs that fell over a lot if a feather touched them, but had no problem hacking, stamping and barging.

Glad they're out of Europe. Scum team.

did he learn German during his time with Dortmund?

Not much. He and Inui (then Bochum) went to a tutor together for a while. Kagawa always had an interpreter at his side (Jumpei Yamamori who is now with Kiyotake, I think).
Yamamori was always so cool. Miss him at Dortmund.

Oh, I remember some of you guys talking about him before.

Fergie apparently said on tuesday that Kagawa may make the bench for City, but today I guess he's changed his mind. Will lessen the blow of Ando's injury.

It's really difficult for people who come from eastern backgrounds to feel comfortable speaking English. With Japanese people especially (I see this a lot with my students), they don't know the grammatically proper way to form a sentence so they won't try. They'd rather the language barrier be at fault for poor communication than make a mistake and personally be at fault for a misunderstanding.

A person from a Latin American country might tell a teammate "you no go" and the meaning will get across, but a Japanese person will not even attempt to say anything unless they are confident that they said it well, eg "Don't go into this space please."

It's very troublesome to deal with. There are many Japanese who can translate fairly complicated sentences and understand a high % of what they're told, but essentially refuse to say anything but basic "Yes" or "No," or practice phrases like "Sorry my English is very poor." Of course there are those that realize making mistakes is an important part of language acquisition – sadly they are a minority.

Very insightful.... cultural differences are so interesting. Kagawa has so much swag and he probably doesn't even know it.

Ugh, writing a critical law analysis is such a pain when the text you're analysing seems to pussyfoot around making a point.
