falcao failed to impress against madrid. if he fails against barcelona, too, i'm taking him off my hnnngggg list. no, i do not care about how bad atletico as a whole are against those teams.

show me, radamel.
i want to believe.

He doesn't give a shit anymore. He's an LFC player in less than 3 weeks.

Shit...I thought I would not be able to get a ticket for the Atletico game. I look on the site 2 days before and they are plentyful. Would have loved to see Falcao off :(

I also regret not going to the Europa League final in dublin when Falcao was with Porto. I live right next to dublin :(

Why even get into those threads during the events? Why is there a need to exchange/trade this instant information when your children/relatives are not involved? Why express regret and sorrow when the people who are suffering from this can't possibly read it?
Who are you talking to? Is it just so that people can feel good about themselves despite the events?

I sometimes feel like there's some sort of disaster porn going on where people come in and count the victims, "ONE MORE VICTIM REPORTED!" and feel sorry just to have emotional spikes of some sort.
It's all an illusion, it's far away. If you lived a century ago, chances are, you'd probably never even hear about stuff like this occurring if you didn't live in America (which Meus doesn't).
Even when artists die you have some sort of a stake there as you might have expected to hear/read some more of their works, but these are just regular people, miles upon miles away from you. Why is there a need to process such events publicly?

I wouldn't dare to post all this in the said thread as I don't really know if someone in there is actually, really affected by this.

Post-event analysis is, of course, a different story and if you live close by (and maybe have kids of your own) I can understand the sudden need for communication, consolation, etc.

Welp, back to professional sports (/football). An utterly pointless source of entertainment for the masses to distract them from their shitty lives (unlike those of most professional football players) and satisfy their need to beat a neighboring city or country :|

Completely agree.

Then you have the professional media glorifying these incidents with their disturbing news coverage. The internet is now just an extension of this as people scramble to get the first scoop and propagate whatever information they can find, without vetting it, via twitter and facebook, just like what Meus did. Then you have the people trying to further their own political agenda in the direct aftermath (whether it's pro/anti guns, pro/anti God, pro/anti videogames, pro/anti abortion, pro/anti XYZ).

The whole thing amalgamating and unfolding is just very disturbing and very strange.

Analysing why it happened, and how similar incidents could be prevented in future is a legit discussion, but kids in their bedroom in another country with no connection to the story whatsoever expressing their sorrow while simultaneously scrambling over live news feeds, twitter and facebook to gleefully provide their audience with up to the nanosecond coverage of irrelevant details that only serve to glorify the incident, while political opinions are inevitably thrown around and-... It makes my head spin.

I'll catch the main headlines about the story, but I'm actively trying to avoid the thread and the rolling 24/7 coverage about it.

I've read a lot of true crime books about killers, gangs, serial killers etc, but I don't think I've ever read a book about mass murderers, the build up, the aftermath, and especially the impact they have in the 21st century. I'm sure there's a market for one.

Fixed for what the majority of this thread is really thinking.

:lol

You have issues. Hodgson's imbecilic project of ingratiating himself with Liverpool fans by picking their players even when

a) the team as a whole is a rabble of underperforming shite
b) the individual players are past it/too young/wankers

has given you ideas above your station.

On the subject of death and mortality:

Last Monday I found a lump on one of my testicles. It was barely noticeable but I was concerned because I'd been feeling a dull pain down there for a few days.

Had a ultrasound done on Wednesday and was told today that I had nothing to worry about. The small lump was a bunched up cluster of nerves and the pain was most likely from rugby training.

I've never been more relieved in my life.

Edit: And that gel they use for the ultrasound is fucking cold.

Is Villa Boas really trying to say Bale is not a diver because he runs fast?

Guessed you missed the article explaining that if Bale never dived it would be the equivalent of him running into a Polar Bear. Apparently he only dives to avoid a collision.

Obviously Suarez is a dirty diving foreign bastard though so no articles for him.

Last Monday I found a lump on one of my testicles.

Had a few similar scares involving different parts of my body over the past two years. It's pretty horrifying the feeling you get when you think you have found a lump. When I presented my plumbs the the doctor I was told I had a blocked sperm duct :|

Problem with that is there are various things going on in the old plumb sack that feel like lumps so people who dont know what they are looking for end up shitting their knickers.

Pretty sure Jeff has been through something similar.

FOX (US) is going to air FA Cup matches, including the Final, on their free-to-air network. Starts with the 3rd Round tie between United and West Ham.

Good move, they'll have The FA Cup Final, the last day of the PL, and the CL Final on their free broadcast network over the course of three weeks.

And yet a fair few Gaffers (and more importantly, a massive chunk of the US population) are against gun reforms.

They are against it until it happens to them then their tune changes.

And my wife wonders why I would rather have my child home schooled.

I think some have really strong swings of empathy for stories like this. My mom is like that; if the news is negative or depressing it will ruin her evening.

The saddest part of all this is that this sort of news doesn't shock me anymore. Columbine happened when I was 9, and I went through Middle School and High School with occasional lock down drills and that fearful post 9/11 zeitgeist. It's hard not to think "Of course there was a school shooting, this is America. What institution is impervious to gun violence?" It will always exist while guns are available, either legally or illegally.

They are both disgraceful divers most Spurs & Liverpool fans know it. We all used to know how bad Young was when he played for us, its credit to SAF he called him out on it.

Kinda feel the same about Ronaldinho, but he seems to have shed the weight and is enjoying his football now. Its a shame about Ronaldo.

Dino put on fat where as ronaldo put on muscle. He looked skinnier at the beginning of the season but it looks like he's back to his playing weight.

Chicharito must be hitting the roids hard. He looks completely different than when he first started.

--yes he's put on muscle with the HGH too I know

Im talking about Cristiano! I think putting on so much muscle took something away from his game. Speaking of Fat Ronaldo though, news hit today he lost 20 kgs on the Brazilian Biggest Loser!!

So fucking happy for him.

United put Chicharito on a weight gaining program and have him lifting a lot. They're doing the same with Shinji and De Gea.
