The problem is there's so many variations in someone's setup that it can be hard to determine if it's the game, a component of the PC hardware, the OS, the GPU drivers, or some random external software running in the background that is causing the issue. Most people don't know where to look when something goes wrong and it can be a very frustration thing especially when the typical PC error message gives you no context and all you get is an error code. Here's a typical PC performance thread conversation on here:
Poster 1: I'm getting a locked 60fps at 1080p on game X
Poster 2: Lucky you. I'm having issues maintaining the frame rate and I'm getting crashes.
Poster 1: What's your setup?
Poster 2: blah, blah, blah
Poster 1: That's strange. I have almost the same exact system and it works great for me.
Poster 2: Guess I'll have do some more investigating to see what's the problem.
This isn't to discourage people, but it's something to be aware of. Heck I had RE7 crash on my PC 5 times and I was at the point of just uninstalling it and getting the PS4 version. Luckily I got through the problem, but I hated wasting my time on troubleshooting it when the only benefit to me getting it on the PC was saving $12 on the digital copy. If I bought the physical disc off Amazon, I could have got the same discount with my Prime membership and sold the game back when I was done.
