Former WipeOut devs announce new futuristic racer....Formula Fusion

Really digging the ship designs. Futuristic Formula 1? Fuck yes i'm down for this.

Please have pit stops.

I'm happy to see Red Bull still racing in the future!

Sony’s loss is Microsoft’s gain [...] they have released some rough footage [for] PlayStation 4
this makes ludicrous sense.... i hate when gaming 'articles' conform to the awful stereotype of game 'reporting'.

sigh...

Glad to hear this news. The graphics and art style look good. But it looks so SLOW. I always watch F-Zero GX videos and its mind meltingly fast. This just looks like a slow wipeout.

I hope for a real sense of speed and Oculus support.

Really not sure about this, the tracks seem to be straight from Wipeout but the vehicles look terrible to me.

Looks slower than Mario Kart aside from the boost panels.

It's making me want to dig out FZero GX tho.

lmao. Yea I'm sure there won't be ridiculous speeds and that's just the default noob one. Have you ever played Wipeout?

Good news though, Wipeout for everyone. I'll be getting this on my PC. Sony fucked up so bad letting these guys go.

I hope whatever firesprite(another studio with ex-studio liverpool devs) are working on is another futuristic racer too. that would be fuckin great.

I personally think this looks super awesome. Was hoping a new Wipeout was going to come out eventually, but this looks like it'll satisfy that.

The rather stiff movement, lack of bounce and roll is probably due to it being early footage, but it's actually more realistic to how an 'anti-gravity' craft would move, particularly if it was using some form of magnetic levitation. So that's... interesting if deliberate.

It looks so slow. Same problem I had with Wipeout where the normal speed without boost felt slow. I mean driveclub looks on steroids compared to this and these are supposed to be future racers going 500+ mph.

I love Fatal Inertia & F-Zero, but given I have only heard nothing but good things about the Wipeout series (I haven't played any entry in that series), consider me excited.

A racing game with "Formula" in the name? Prepare for immediate frivolous lawsuit! The owner of Formula One is a total dick who would seriously waste his time and money on a lawsuit similar to some of that Candy Crush Saga bullcrap.

Game is seriously needed, though. So much for my conspiracy theories that Wipeout was being held back in the shadows for use as a Morpheus title.

Why you syh

The idea of sacrificing physics simulations for arcade feel...being better due to realism...shake shake shake.

Also, I thought the magnets were just for the sections were you basically get glued to the track (in wipeout - which has the same surface texturesm, and the glass sections as this), I think you hover most of the time, lore-wise.

Looks really flat and boring but hey, it's early. Lovely vehicule design. Antigrave formula one ? Sign me in. They can't go wrong, can they ?

I love Wipeout, so I was really excited to see this. However ... the ship movement, the speed, everything just doesn't look right. This may be just a case of showing the game too early, it looks like a Kickstarter campaign video to me.

Really fantastic news, I love the design of the vehicles and it looks awesome,,, the handling seems a bit stiff but this looks like early days.... Great that this is being made, I cant wait to see how it turns out. They 100% need cockpit view and Oculus/Morpheus support please.
Is this team still based in Liverpool?

Since it's on PC I hope they consider adding Rift support. They took the time to add 3D to Wipeout HD so I could see them doing it here

Edit: Fuck I just realized I could play this in 120hz too, they gotta make sure they don't cop out on the unlocked frame rate!

The ship designs are cool, but the ship being glued to the track is even worse than in Wipeout Fusion.
I want the bouncy springy floating rocket physics from the PSX games...

I understand most people don't want that though, they want more wipeout HD.

Not really feeling those vehicle designs, the flimsy looking fins and fat body in the middle just looks unwieldy and awkward.

Super happy this game is getting made though! I love Wipeout and am happy to get more that's like it. They need to rethink that name though, "Formula Fusion" just has a generic ring to it. Slamjet Racing was better, but still lacks a bit of punch to grab that initial curiosity.

Crafting and tech trees are even in racing games now? Ugh...

I can only hope that skill will still be the biggest factor in winning. I like my racing games minimalist like that. They absolutely don't need crafting, tech trees, XP, spacebucks, or any other gimmick.

Wasn't a good chunk of the WipEout team working on a PS4 game, after working on The Playroom for PS4? Remember reading about it.

Seems that this is another team...?

EDIT:
Yep. Firesprite. Seems this is another team, also from the ashes of Studio Liverpool.

Would you say....corridor-like?

:)

Kidding aside, I agree. I get people love these types of games but it looks so claustrophobic to me. I wish they would finally make the jump to more natural settings for tracks. It's considered shit around here but I wish Fatal Inertia did well enough to warrant a sequel because the concept had a lot of potential. Imagine the game with Horizon 2 level of graphics.

Was never a big fan of WipeOut, I actually disliked the regular playstyle with weapons.

Zonemode though, that's where it shined in the PS3 WipeOut... if there is a Zone Mode here, I'm in. Vehicles look not as good as in WipeOut as of yet. They look stiff, they should rotate a little when they turn.
