I always said (last time it even was on this thread) that its sales would be inferior to GT anyway, so there's absolutely no reason to be mad. And it'll do better eventually, October NPD are only counting 2/3 days after the release of the game.

Guys. I know that there's been a lot of subtle trolling(And blatant) in this thread. But this isn't really necessary or in "good taste". Sure I personally think T10 deserves it for all their smack talk and shouting, but it's not a good thing for F3 to perform so low. Sure Iknos is a unbiased and saintly hero, worthy of our "choir singing" but he was right however little that Forza as a series has pushed Gran Turismo harder.
You can rip into either game all you want, but cheering at low sales isn't cool. And yes I know that sounds extremely corny and lolz GT will sell 50 bajillion copies anyway. BUT competition is a good thing as evidenced by this generation and the battle between the 360/PS3.

I'm quite surprised and disappointed, though not THAT surprised since post-launch there's been a big silence in activity just in general. It's a phenomenal game in every aspect, so I'm just not sure what the deal is. Possibilities include the death of racing games in America, proximity to Modern Warfare 2... who knows.
We will know in regards to how it compares with GT5, and also how it sells in subsequent months.
I'm sure it'll cover costs, but I don't consider that a success.
We'll see how things go for the rest of the holidays. Outside of MW2, AC2 and ODST there's not too many big games on the 360 for the rest of the year, so it could hold steady and end up doing alright.

I normally would buy a game like Forza 3 but it really is just cars racing around a damn track again. It was done well enough in Forza 2. PGR4 was a better game in terms of features because it at least added weather which was "new" to driving. I think GT5 is going to have the same issue.
Racing has to widen its net. Test Drive Unlimited is where these games need to go...but with the proper driving model, weather, and expanded and integrated community features.
There is a minority of people who are turned on by how simmy something is and I'm unsure if that minority can support extremely expensive developments like Forza. The games need to be more accessable and more interesting to get a big enough audience.

I like how shurs is happy that forza sold so many in 5 days, but could care less that MW2 is a 30 fps shooter on ps3. how about sales of MW2 even with the million pirates will be almost 3 to 1 in favor of 360 compared to user base less than 2-1. shurs doesn't care MW2 looks better on the 360 but has made 10 posts in the thread he doesn't care about BTW he owns a 360... lets see if its banned.

And so it might. But that's not indicative of lifetime sales at all between titles such as Mario Kart and GT where they sell massively at the beginning due to other regions and constantly therefrom. Forza sold what, ~200k or something in the UK? Something like 30k in Japan and 175k in the US. GT5 alone will clear a million in its first month, mostly due to Japan and Europe. I agree that NA isn't the biggest market for racing games, maybe Nascar will help a little(Doubt it). But even so, that just swings things even more in the other two's favour.skyfinch said:

I don't think anybody is saying that Forza as a series is a failure commercially, F2 sold 3mil+ last time I checked.
However, GT will sell even more than F3 first month NPD and continue to sell well, 500k+ isn't unralistic. I can see it reaching 6m+ rather quickly if a "demo" as many called it around here cleared 4m+ in 1.5 years.
Forza isn't a bomba, it's competitive. But in sales? It's not definitive. People are talking about it not being able to live up to the talk.
