I own both games and enjoy(ed) them both. I think forza is OVERALL better than gt, as do most of the people who have both games and both stupid consoles.

About image quality, if you spend some time on a dx11 pc playing racing games, then switch the same display to gt5 or f4, the result will be the same: you will witness a significant drop in image quality. there no way a poorly filtered 720 image to be compared with 1080 (many play in even higher) with a shitload of image enhancing filters.
so, mid-2013 dont yell at others "fanboyz" because "gt5 is the best", because basically its not 2008 any more.

now, about your video. its supposed to give a sense of speed, right?
here's a video not of replay, but recording of an online race in f4. you can see the guy bringing up the hud to check his damage.
there's no formula 1 there, I dont think there is in forza, so I searched for a ..poorer substitute.
check the sense of speed, and tell me which one is better

I have both, and have put 100+ hours into each. While Forza is fun and I really like it. It's not in the same class as GT5. Especially with Physics and features (Nope, I don't give a crap about livery editors).

So that's me out of the "Most people" category :p

I know, there is also one more friend of mine who 100% prefers gt5 over forza. he swears by it and lives by it. thats why I said "most" :)
May I ask if you use the same control method for both games?

Truth is GT5 is fairly different since it got reviewed good work on PD to keep on updating the game .
Any way was hoping GT6 was on PS4 , GT5 is fairly inconsistent and it looks like PD was rush and was not able to do what they want on PS3 .
At times it's best looking console racer other times it look fairly bad .

The same reason we don't see many Forza gifs.

Forza just does not look as good as GT5.

The only areas Forza beats GT is in customisation and sound.

This is one of the reasons I respect PD so much. They have been constantly updating the game to get it to where it is now. I don't think any racing game bar one (I think you guys know which one ;)) has got so many updates with so much content. The fact they are still updating almost three years on is really respectable.

Seriously, in which areas does GT outperform Forza?

Visually, at least the suspension looks better and as the camera is locked to the car it appears to move more realistically.

Anything else?

EDIT: and the video you link i awful. Dude is cutting corners on the grass at 150mph and people are on here talking about how forza's physics are more realistic/better than GT5s............?

I wish there was a thread of how we can make GT and Forza better games.

I would love to actually see the GT community manager (have they appointed one yet?) and the Forza community manager come onto GAF and ask the fans what they would like to see in future games, what they would like fixed and enhanced. Our opinions, our ideas and wishlists. Our feedback.

Now that would be a thread of tremendous benefit and relevancy.

I have a dream.

A TV will have significantly more processing taking place, especially on non-native signals whereas monitors typically expect a fixed resolution. So 720p on 50" plasma will look significantly better than 720p on a monitor.

Plasma/LCD TVs for years have been designed to handle deinterlacing and upscaling of non-native material and especially SD sources (480i and 576i for SD TV).

So yes, using a monitor may substantially impair IQ for non-native resolutions. You can see the effect on really low-end HDTVs too; anything non-native looks like ass.

I don't think you PC guys appreciate the difference a decent HDTV can make in improving perceptible IQ.

No, but it's known that they and the US GT producers read sites like GTplanet to get an idea of what fans want.

Woof, it has been a while, forgot how awful the Forza version of the Ring is. I always thought Forza's sense of speed effects feel artificial, like a half step in the direction of the Shift games which have the dumbest bullshit "super rad awesome sense of speed bro!" effects ever.

Racing is intense when it is good, not because of a bunch of blur filters and blown out EQ. Not that is the issue I have with Forza's handling model, but a lot of other racing games out there are unplayable because of all that crap layered on.

Guy cut two corners back to back at over 150 mph..... So much for using that logic to say GT5 is more realistic...

Its in Km/h. The first corner he cut was at 160-170 km/h which is around 100mph. Second was at 130kmph. Video didn't buffer for the rest lol.

I'm guessing that you're mainly referring to Shift here. I think that it has some good ideas. I appreciate that it tries to mimic driver head movement. That might be the next step in immersion with sim racers. But figuring out how to do it without it being obnoxious is key. GT5 does it, but it's extremely subtle. Hopefully they'll take it and extra step with GT6.

it is a tv, a 23" 1920x1080 tv, but yea i guess its just a low end one

also am i right in thinking forza's nurb is a slightly modified version from PGR?

Oh and btw, the alpha resolution is pretty poor in GT5, but I vastly prefer those low res effects than the laughably almost non-existant Forza alpha effects. *bails out :p*

I wish GT5 had a wet car shader like the one in PCars, and that raindrops were more visible in photo mode :(

I can't find the source but I remember them saying that they widened so its easier to have multiplayer races on it. Though thats not the only problem for it. Its stretched out, missing many visual marks and elevation changes too.

Is Betrayer of hope a joke character playing off of the classic 2005-6 stereotypical console warrior?
