Forza 3 vs Gran Turismo 5 Comparison Thread of John, Chapter 11, Verse 35

I'm more than happy to read your suggestions for our future titles. Feel free to either post them here or drop me a PM!

Oh, and to the person who asked if we're still supporting Forza Motorsport 4 with community events then that's very much a yes :) You can see what we've got coming up this week in our latest Week in Review article on the official Forza Motorsport website.

Oh shit Helios works for Turn10 now? Weren't you at Codies a few years ago doing the F1 games? The bar is pretty high you know. Chespace is a legend around these parts.

The other panel gaps are better though. It's just a very unflattering angle for Forza's lighting.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the lighting because you'll get that pitch black line on the LFA door panel seam regardless of the track and camera angle. It's simply because that's how they modeled it. Why? not sure.

Why was this embarrassment of a thread revived? Holy crap.
just in case microsoft and sony proceed with the rumored online drm.
then of course we dont buy their new shit and just wait here for gt6 to dominate forza 4 on ALL counts,
and even beat forza 5 in photomode and replays :D
stick around! this thread could be the future

The fun thing about he standard models on GT5 is that they were included as a bonus, so that those who wanted could drive their old cars.

Instead, it was turned into a "disgraceful" feature because they look so bad OMGBBQWTF!

I don't think they thought people would be so hard on this, and game reviews were pretty harsh because of things like that.

It's really crazy to think that if PD had shipped the game without standard tracks and cars, people (game media and console warriors) would be happier and the game would be better received.

I'm glad gameplay was king on that decision, and i get to play with my old cars and tracks.

Did I read criticism of Trial Mountain somewhere in this thread? It's one of my favourite GT5 tracks. What's wrong with it? Was it a lazy import from GT4 or something? Looks fine to me when racing.

This is what happens when you outsource.

ehh not at all.

First, that picture doesnt reflect Forza ilumination very good, there are far better examples.

Second, they outsource the 3d models and that LFA is very well made, its the lightning that is not good in that photo and that aspect doesnt have anything to do with outsourcing.

Polyphony Digital SHOULD outsource, they werent up to the task in GT5, 200 models in 5+ of work is not a good number. Outsourcing would have been a much wiser choice.

The fun thing about he standard models on GT5 is that they were included as a bonus, so that those who wanted could drive their old cars.

Please backup your claim with facts. Thanks.

I don't think you can call standard cars a "bonus", when you can finish some events without them.

Someone posted this a few pages back but it shows the gulf in quality of shaders and lighting between Forza and GT.

Shaders and lighting is indeed better in GT5, but that FM4 shot looks awful. The guy who made it took the worst scenario ever for FM4.

It's an import from GT4, the lighting model PD use makes it look better than it is, an upscaled PS2 track.
