These are all untouched, a lot of it's in the composition and just choosing the right location. To be fair, there are a lot of gorgeous GT5 shots out there.

Why do both games look nothing like these screenshots

I have played GT5 and it looks nothing like anything posted here. At what point did photo mode start becoming indicative of what a game looks like while its being played.

I don't think anyone ever said it was. But very few people have capture cards so the photomode is the only way to get screenshots. The PS4 has a built in image capture device, so we'll be able to get both whenever the PS4 GT is released.

Unless T10 are wizards, there is no way this is true.

Sorry for the terrible picture quality (not a direct capture) but that's a players in race model. Yes, the poly count is clearly down on photomode/time trials but it's not at 35k. A.I cars are probably around that mark but not the players car.

You must have almost no experience with viewing/uploading photos in Forza 4 if you think that's the case, particularly "big shot" mode. The others are low-res because I'm lazy

It's true, some models have 40k or 45k iirc, but that's it.
