I don't think it's necessarily the GT2 to be honest. I think it's the Xbox and the FFB style they use (HID I think?).

Xbox = XID

PC, PS3 = HID

The Microsoft wheel that I owned before my GT2 also had much more muted feedback I'm fairly sure it's a technological limitation of XID.

Gotta say, the level reward cars you get are badly upgraded (higher class ones at least) for my driving style. Took me a few levels to realize that they always auto upgrade the cars you get as driver level rewards D: . The Ferrari GTO I just got a level or two ago was terrible before I changed the upgrades, it had no traction in corners and felt really unstable overall.

Gotcha. Yeah, it does suck. It does seem weird that it would be a "limitation" though honestly. Seems that you could just turn some things up or down to get the FFB you need.

Didn't MS say that XID allowed them more refined FFB effects?

My problem may help but i don't know. I couldn't upload anything to the forza website but had taken several pictures and went through the process ingame. When I went to myprofile and tried to view the data it said the data was corrupt.

I exited the game went to the hard drive and deleted the corrupt data (not my save) and now everything works.

Thanks but my problem is only by uploading the video. I've taken photos, no problem, but uploading a video to the forzamotorsport.net?

No way. The messaging keeps poping and everytime I say yes it will show up again and again, it might be a bug but if only 1% of the people are getting this problem I'm not sure there's going to be a fix for this...

=/

We are right against the 100 member mark again I think, but you can still PM your GamerTag and I will add you to a wait list. Going to do another cleaning of all under Level 10 people (except those with mitigating circumstances) and any under Level 25 that hasn't progressed in this last week. Hopefully that will open some more slots to some more active members.

I swear, I spend more time messing with the Club than I do racing these days...not that I am complaining as it is rather fun.

I HAVE THE POWWWWAAAAA!!!

Don't worry, you're doing a great job as a Public Relations on the car Club, hehe.

I'm going to my final season in WT, yay!

Description of XID said:
MS is using a special USB and input protocol (XID) but more important they decided to use a completely different method of generating FF effects. On the PC or PS3 FF effects are created in the console and the console only sends out Force commands to the motor (left, right and how strong). This consumes some CPU power. Therefore MS decided to put a lot of pre-defined FF commands into the IC of the wheel and the console sends something like ("play FF effect #24" = "shaking while driving over rough surface")."

Going by my understanding of it all it seems as though the XID commands are somewhat canned wheras HID ones are dynamically generated based on user input and car physics which would go in line with what my experience has been playing on the same wheel on two different platforms. MS say a lot of things, locking out most 3rd parties with established HID wheels and then discontinuing their own wheel doesn't seem like the move of someone who has absolute faith in the technology.

There is a NeoGAF 2?

Cause personally I feel there should be. It's kinda unfair how people get kicked out because they can only play a couple of hours a week. Maybe a NeoGAF2 club could be made for the more casual players like that? Hell we could even organize promotion/relegation races, make a competition of the thing. :D

If you play a couple of hours a week, you won't be kicked. I only require a ONE level advancement a week to stay in the club, and that is only up to Level 25. Once you are over Level 25, you are safe unless I don't see you advance for like a month.

Under level 25, you can gain a level in an hour easy.

I'm having a competition on the Player One Podcast car club over the top spot on the Monthly challenge for F class cars around the short Top Gear track. It's an absolute blast trying to get the very best out of such crappy cars with tuning and upgrades.

Easiest way to get exp for me is to play online, you get tons of it. Got around 13,000 exp for one cycled production cars ladder race after placing 2nd or 3rd.

Get a FREE "I am the Stig" Shirt for your avatar.

Go here and do some stuff.

Unfortunately I already bought that shirt. It was the only bit of the Forza 4 avatar gear I bought, go figure.

Yeah if you get a good group of people together you get a lot of xp and cash. I don't know if it's faster than racing offline but it feels like time moves faster because it is a ton of fun. :)

I wish there was a bigger limit, 100 is a bit small for a proper car club. Can you be a member of only one car club at a time?

Fuck that noise. Never in a month of Sundays.

Have you used your GT2 in iRacing on a PC? It feels like a different wheel. This is largely the point that people that have been complaining about subpar wheel support are getting at. The force feedback is way stronger and sharp on the PC using a GT2. The difference is night and day. From the stuff I read it could actually be a limitation of the XID way of doing force feedback.

I don't know what the GT2 feels like on Playstation but I can attest to massive differences between PC and Xbox performance on the GT2. I have friends with G25's and 7's so I have tested against those too, on the PC you can set the GT2 force feedback levels to the point where it starts to get painful to use way above what's achievable on the xbox.

I don't do any PC gaming at all (I've a pretty powerful works laptop but it's locked down tight, I can't even change the screensaver :lol) but the GT2 FFB in GT5 is a lot stronger than in Forza.

What struck me most was the smoothness of the G27. My GT2 always feels a lttle 'notchy' when rotating, even with Drift set to 5. It's funny, because Fanatec claim their belt drive is a lot smoother than the G27's helical gears. I'd say the opposite is true. The G27 has no notchiness whatsoever.

Edit: Oops - double post. I am Satan.

Ah okay, that's very reasonable then.

It was just me thinking out loud anyway. Rivals mode is so much better with a club, I'd hate for people to miss out. :) How many people are still waiting for a spot, if I may ask?

Anyone using the original MS wireless wheel with Forza 4? How is it?

I have a G27 but I found one on clearance for $50 so I grabbed it. I can't justify a Fantec having a G27 already. I hope it'll be sufficient.

Finally.
FINALLY.

Top GAF score on the FK drift rivals challenge. It's not a great score overall by any means, but I had some serious fucking hoodoo causing me to just come short so many times. I've been playing that fucking thing for the last three or four days, every night after work for HOURS.

Also got the Maple Valley one as well, but that wasn't too hard... after all, it was only Jube on top of the leaderboard ;)

Fanatec PWTS user and as other here not 100% happy about the implementation in FM4. I have a wheel for every mainstream console(except for the wii) since the Sega Saturn plus a g27 so i am not new to driving with a wheel. I have tried all the suggested "fixes" but cant get the 900° working right....and as effect every car has the same steering lock. Assuming this is fixed and you'll see your wheel in the telemetry screen do the full 900° 1 to 1...will then cars have their individual steering lock ? With the Fanatec being the officail wheel and all i thought this would be thought through better.

And with the new Pirelli data i was hoping that the slip angle of the tyres would be more predictable but as in Forza 3 you reach the grip limit and than suddenly its slip and slide without warning. Locking up front tyres is like aquaplaning and takes ages after easing the brake to get the front tyres rolling again...

The above coupled with the countersteering assists ruin what could be such a great driving experience for me. Everything else is really top notch...loving the new sound, new Infineon track, 16 man mp, that club stuff and especially the rivals mode which took most of my playtime so far.

In Forza 3, that 100K Drift achievement was nearly the end of me. Finally got it after MULTIPLE tries around Fujimi Kaido.

I don't know if I'll ever get F4's variant. Best drift I've done was after some snap oversteer which lead to me taking Turn 1 on Camino Viejo while looking out the driver side window. 3/4 rating. I stink at drifting.

Umm, I am not sure. I don't have any PMs yet, but from the posts here I would guess under 5?

I tried putting in another one of my gamertags, but it wouldn't let me. Looks like it's one per account. Sorry fellas, I tried!

I'll stick with my Final Fantasy XIII outfit and sweet Forza cap. :)

I got it pretty easily on fujimi kaido.

Hmm. Time to dust off my Drift Tune Veyron with Jube's clockwork/steampunk paint.

Jube, are you bringing that beauty of a paint back for F4?

In other news, I'm already looking forward to the first set of DLC cars. I wonder what we'll get.

I'm hoping for Aventador and perhaps the new C63 Black Series Coupe.

This is my problem. I am so focused on keeping my lines clean through turns that I am sacrificing speed. I was even awarded the "Sunday Driver" badge. How embarrassing is that?

LOL, that badge is just for the number of miles driven. So no worries man.

And don't worry too much about your level because I know you are mainly a photographer.

Speaking of. Is there a way to see what cars are DLC and what aren't when selecting cars? I don't remember all the DLC cars when selecting after a level up.

I think there will be a little icon next to the car. I seem to remember in FM3 there being some indicator....

Ha! That makes me feel quite a bit better, thank you.

I love racing against Club Members' ghosts. Some of you guys are absolute beasts on the track and take turns at speeds I didn't think possible.

Seriously, I'll start a race and think "alright, doing good, doing gooood ... *one turn after* ... where did they go?"

And I looked for a little icon or something, didn't see anything but I'll check on a car I know is launch DLC with the LCE later or something.

Would be good to know as I'll probably share more of the DLC cars since not everybody will get DLC moreso than the cars stock in the game.

Yeah, you finally nailed that second to last corner in the the other top gear track challenges:) I've got work to do!
Actually, your ghost still took most corners better, but I just switched to manual /w clutch. ;)

When you switch as well, I'm done for :(

Any way to setting clutch to A with the originale button layout? I can't get used to the clutch in LB.

I'm the worst at drifting. It was the last achievement I got to complete FM3.

But got this one was fairly easily. Stock Veyron on FK. All I did was swing the car from side to side, doing my best to keep the drift counter going for as long as possible. I used rewind if I nudged a wall or lost the drift count in any way. Got the Best drift at about 8000points, about a quarter ways through FK.
