Two winners doesn't work for the same reason that having two different races wouldn't work - much would depend on how competitive your 'group' is.

The Miata sounds pretty raw with exhaust upgrades! Not the most pleasing noise, but it certainly sounds like a race-prepped little Miata. :)

The problem with qualifying is that there is no way to force a certain starting order as far as I can see.

And do we want to force racing tires? Or just keep it completely open?

Damn guys, this is taking way more effort than I thought. Are you TRYING to kill us?

Thought of something like that, but with the sprint race first and then the main race reverse-grid.

The Macau GP weekend has a similar format with a qualifying session, a qualifying/sprint race, then the main event.

This issue is this:

You do a qualifying session where you set the winner to be the person with the fastest lap. Then you can go into the main race, change the grid order to order by lobby points, so whoever won the qualifying session starts from pole and 2nd fastest starts 2nd and so on.

But then for the next race, you'd have to manually order up to reverse the positions of the last race since lobby points would be a combination of the qualifying session AND the 2nd race. Would be too difficult with 16 people.

Yes, set the race limit to time instead of laps, winner by best lap and choose that the start order is the finish order of the last race for the first actual race.

Edit : I thought there was an option to reverse the grid automatically (not based on lobby points) ?

Edit3: Honestly, this is mostly SarBears baby. He has done amazing work in getting this up and getting the ideas and such. He is kicking some ass. I am crazy busy this weekend (ex moving stuff out of the house, Foam/Bubble Party, peoples, etc) and so I am glad that he is able to do as much as he can. He definitely deserves respect for getting all us crazies together to race.

No, dont force racing tires. Let us build a car that suits us.

And yea, its taking effort, but best to get the issues out of the way now so by race time, we can just get on with it and not have a bunch of impromptu detail changes. And then subsequent weekends should be smooth sailing.

I don't think we should bother with qualifying. Let's get ambitious later.

As for grid ordering, in the last online racing I did, we just used a parade lap to order the cars.

Okay, so when the December IGN pack comes out, T10 is also starting the new Monthly Rivals.

We are going to do a Time Trial with the following one:

"Climbing Kaido -- 2011 Monster Sport Suzuki SX4 – Fujimi Kaido New Hill Climb -- The ultimate hill climb car meets the ultimate hill in Forza 4, as you tackle Fujimi Kaido in the 2011 Monster Sport Suzuki SX4. Will you be able to overcome both the track and your rival?"


I will be giving away prizes for best drift, fastest lap, etc. I will post an official event notice when T10 updates with the new Rivals events.

So what is the common view on the Lotuses/Speedster as far as a glitched car? It's obviously on the top on quite a few A-class leaderboards and I consider it to be, if not glitched, at least flawed in terms of PI. Would just hate to see it being a must if you want to be competitive, I'd much rather see a diversified field of cars.

I'm considering a Camaro IROC myself, although I'm currently about 700miles from my xbox so I'll have to work fast once I get home ;)

Yes, be afraid...be very afraid for I shall bring my dark horse (read: Camaro) and hunt you down!

Well, I was leaving the A Class open for any and all cars. I figured those of us at GAF who actually have a pair wouldn't use the Lotus Elise or Opel Speedster because we would run away with it. I HATE anything Lotus, but I've got a Speedster that I surely wouldn't use in a competition like this.

BUT

I also wanted the option of using it for people who know they need a bit of a boost in the race. Like retroBrand. -___-

I suppose it's just up to how you would personally feel about it.

Sounds like a reasonable argument :)

I also hate the lotuses, much for their superiority at some courses. Although I love my 80's esprit, it doesn't get used much as I think it too is flawed in regards to the PI.

I'm itching to get back home and try out some cars for Sunday nights race, not to mention the Miata that I have absolutely no experience in :S

After the patch now I feel like I have to relearn to drive with the wheel lol.. changing from 270 to 900 degrees makes the cars feel a little twitchier for me right now, also I don't know if they changes anything with collisions but it seems any little bump was sending me sideways to the grass..

New patch? Woo! Glad they fixed a few of the big things according to the UTH, but hopefully a lot of the little niggles (wireless wheel switching, for one) have been addressed. I'd love to hope that the level of bloom and light reflection on the road has been toned down dramatically, but I doubt it's going to happen :(

So, that happened...

I have finished the most insane two month stretch of my career; I essentially transitioned to a new department and threw myself into a major project. Since mid-October, each work week has taken 55+ hours. Blah.

I am thankfully in a position where I can play Forza again. Finally!

What's the status of the NeoGAF car club? I asked out when I saw I wouldn't have time, but if there are any openings, I'd love back in. If not, that's okay too. I'm just happy to be back here! (gamertag=FunnyBunny)

One more thing; a few of you may have sent requests to play Forza 4 recently. Those were NOT intentionally ignored. My wife logs onto my account to watch Netflix -- she told me last night that "several people wanted to play Forza 4" -- and I figured it was some of you guys.

Anywho, I'll spend the weekend reading the past six weeks of this thread. See you guys on the track!

Picked this up last night after trading in by crappy kinect games.

I regret not being a day 1er with this. The presentation is in a class of its own. I recently got into Top Gear so to hear the voice of the show was pretty awesome. Also, the way they divvy out a new gift car every level is genius. I love looking at my new baby and scratching my chin as I make the decision.

I play with my Sennheiser 590 headphones on my couch with everything cranked on my panny 50". Its such a rush that words can't describe when you spin out and lose control of your car.

I've really warmed up to the cockpit view too. Its an immersive experience to be able to always have your mirrors in a realistic arrangement.

As I'm sure its been said many times before in this thread, Turn 10 has made an incredible game and did not disapoint.

the best way is to know the tracks very well. know when to brake and when others will brake to avoid rear end collisions. learn the proper racing lines and respect and realize that others will be following that line as well. only pass when its safe to do so, not just when you feel you have the speed to do so!

Speed Wheel detection is fixed ^_^

I also suspect that *maybe* some of the lighting has improved as well, but can't tell if that extends to the wheels as well, or even if it's just placebo.

Man, this has been a crazy busy weekend. I haven't been able to find more than a few minutes here and there to tune my cars. Hopefully I won't be too hung over on Sunday morning and can get some practice runs in.

I have a feeling this will be very competitive, but SarBear and I have talked about some options for handicaps if it is necessary. The most important thing is to keep this fun and interesting for everyone and being last by 10+ seconds on every race is not fun. We haven't nailed down exactly our plans yet, but we have some good ideas.

And next week I want to start doing more daily and fun games for prizes. Guess the car, maybe some trivia, random competitions, etc.

Hey everyone, regarding tomorrow's races, I have good news and bad news...

The good news first: My buddies got me a track day with racing lessons for my birthday back in October. Due to multiple factors no one could control, we couldn't go then because of a freak October snow storm, followed by our make up day in November being cancelled due to poor track tarmac conditions. Nature/Tarmac Gods-willing, I'll be taking some lessons tomorrow morning at the helm of a Lamborghini Gallardo with E-gear (in Giallo Taurus, ofcourse).

It'll be my first track day and I'm trying to contain my excitement. :D

The bad news is that I'm gonna miss out on this awesome F4 event. :/

I'm gonna make a concerted effort to race more with you guys and until now, I've had to make due with Rivals mode. I'm glad we're putting a league together and I hope that some of the lessons I get tomorrow will help my F4 technique a bit!

Hope you guys have a blast tomorrow. :)

Sorry I haven't been around much. I made you guys a number plate for your racing series though. Resize to 0.23 after loading vinyl group. I only have shortt on my friend's list so I gifted it to him and he can gift it to everyone racing.

Yea but I spoke to Short about it before posting it, it's a fun idea :D. Always open to hear ideas for events, contests etc so if anyone has one feel free to PM me, my inbox is open. The shadow on the Escort threw them off but they got the second one pretty quickly. I'm trying to make the third one tough.

Finally found time to finish World Tour, much more satisfying now with the 900 degrees on the wheel working correctly. The event list is kinda intimidating lol not even sure where to start
