Forza 4 |OT| Where Porsche Are Driven

It comes from this post.

The original Porsche list of cars for FM4 before the fiasco last year was over 40 including DLC. Not all of the new Porsche cars that were planned back then for FM4 will be among the 7 new in the Porsche Expansion pack.

Damn, over 40... :(
I really hope they can include Porsche right from the start in Horizon and 5...

FM4 Title Update

Brian Ekberg said:
Hi folks,

A quick notice on the next title update for Forza Motorsport 4. We experienced a last second technical hang-up ahead of the release of the title update and, as a result, it has been delayed. I'm still awaiting details on when it will be released so expect more soon.

As we have in the past, we'll be releasing details on the title update upon its release. Stay tuned for more information when I have it.

Thanks,
Brian

Ok, that Ferrari is incredible. Top 200 time at Infineon Indy course, was a fair lap, nothing special, bone-stock, haven't even touched the setup.

This car and the Ultima are almost too good. They're gonna go on to be leaderboard cars, which means I'm hardly ever gonna get to run them online. :(

The 312PB really is a blast to drive. The super short wheelbase makes for some telepathic turn-in, but also a total intolerance to trail braking. Like you also said, a perfect amount of power and a great view to boot. Fantastic.

If I had a nickel for every false start about new Forza tracks, I'd be loaded. I just tune any news of it out now.

I think that is what makes it so incredible. It is almost entirely function over form. It was one of the few times the designers had to bow to the whims of the engineers and that makes it one of the most iconic Porsches of all time.
Its a race car. Pretty much all race cars are built with functionality coming first. Just so happens a body shaped by aerodynamics and a wider-track will usually look good. The 959 did not. Some cars turn out much better looking than others when based off an existing road car design.

But it was more than a race car. It was THE race car at the time. Dominating almost everything it touched. Rally, road, everything! And it was a STREET CAR. I dunno man, I know it is "traditionally" ugly, but I just think its gorgeous because of what it is. It was really, in my opinion, the first true hypercar. A car that nobody could touch and that everyone wanted. Plus add in all the mystic of the low production run, being unable to import it to the states (until Bill Gates changed that), and the Group B heritage and you have just an amazing car.

Of course, almost all of those things are true about the Ferrari 288GTO, which is why it is probably my favorite Ferrari of all time.

Mmm. 288 GTO.

The 312P sounds amazing.

On lark, after Top Gear last night, a friend and I tooled around Dunsfold in the Ford wagon, and holy shit, it was a blast. Also took a stock '69 Z28 against his MX-5 Superlight around the alps (he gets a handicap, usually 50-100 PI), and I just loved the gentle sliding around corners.

The Weisman was a waste of a DLC slot. I was going back and forth between the 2010 and 2011 versions last night and they look almost exactly the same except for the rear spoiler.

Just amazing !
This video just goes to show how dedicated Turn 10 are when it comes to sound !

So it's seems they set themselves a new greater thing to accomplish with each new Forza (all while still turning even more car lovers into gamers and more gamers into car lovers). For the original Forza the objective was just to get the game out, for Forza 2 they made the jump to 60fps, for Forza 3, they modeled lug nuts, for Forza 4 they reverse engineered the sun and for Horizon they're climbing the Everest. I take it that they're landing the first man on Mars for Forza 5 if it's indeed a next-gen launch title ! :lol

Mars Rover confirmed!

And if no migraines happen to occur, then I shall be there on Sunday too!

I applaud their dedication to top quality audio representation, but as a rotary 'enthusiast', I can notice the discernible difference in engine note between the IRL car and the recorded in game vehicle (@2:24).

As I have said before, the IRL 787B/engine has a deeper note to the 'typical' video game representation of a rotary engine as displayed in FM4 - it's too Formula One'y IMO.

I can't believe they went to all that effort but it still doesn't quite sound right - to my ears.

If I am wrong, feel free to condemn/crucify me...

Of course, it could just be the difference between microphone positions and RPM/engine load.

All I know is that the sound in Forza 4 makes my ribs vibrate. Don't know how true to the world they may be, but some cars in the game sound like un-caged monsters, which is a-OK in my book.

I like cranking the audio and just leaving the 787B idling or at low rpm, the unique 'brap' is at least evident in that
Situation.

My favourite sounds are the ballsy V8s in some of the classic American muscle. They got them pretty spot on.

I agree to a certain extent. Some cars should have a deeper note rather than the F1ish high pitch. The V8 Supercars on the other hand are a little too deep where they should've had a higher pitch instead, especially from mid range right through to the higher RPM's.
But, overall, it's an absolutely astounding accomplishment to have gone and recorded 500+ cars and on a dyno in full load no less. It's a crowning achievement in gaming audio let alone the racing genre...

Wiswell himself has said that he has plenty of ideas for FM5 so I would imagine an even better experience for the next game.

While we are at it, I'd like to make a couple of suggestions from many, of what should be fixed/enhanced for the next iteration:

-Gear shifting effects should be less muted and a little more violent (sound wise and physical) especially with a dog box transmission. Straight cut gear whine should have a more pronounced sound and effect proportionate to rpm's..(Imo, Codies and a couple of NFS games had the gearshifting and whine effects spot on..)

Straight cut gears

Doppler effects and reverb should be enhanced for a better sounding replay experience.

In for Sunday. Any news on when the title update will hit. I feel like playing the game now would be wasted leveling points.

Love to see the escort cosworth get some love. I owned a mallard green lux version before the kids came along and it really is such an awesome car. Although with the whale-tail spoiler you were paranoid leaving it anywhere.
I feel F5 should be a forza greatest hits title, with porsche back in the loop it would be great to see it perform with full LOD cars on the grid.

Great interview indeed. IMO, Dan is great to listen at when MS doesn't shove PR shit down his throat and when it's only passion speaking.

Gearing up for this photo comp over at the official forums. I wanna GO FAST! I mean, I WANNA WIN!

What is it this week?

By the way, I have currently claimed the OT for Forza Horizon. However, I have never done one before so if any veteran (GRom) wants it, I am cool with that. All I ask is that you let me help and show me how to do it.

There's no theme behind the official contest over at the FM forums. It's just your best shot, but the catch is that it has to be a regular shot (non bigshot) and it has to be uploaded to your storefront. This is to stop photo stealing and such.

Didn't know you could claim OT for a game coming in more than 6 months, I better claim the FM5 OT now if I want it ! :lol
Don't worry I don't have some right on Forza OTs and I won't take back Horizon's OT if you want it.
If you need any help, I'll be glad to provide my limited experience (FM4's OT was my first... :lol).
