Forza Horizon |OT| A Whole New Playground

Nope...now that we know that there's only one expansion and then a bunch of car packs I will skip the pass. I might buy the Rally DLC if it looks cool but I don't care for car packs... TherE's more than enough cars in the game for me right now.

This may sound weird but even if I LOVE car games (especially sims) I don't really care for the cars lol... As long as I have enough to get a good variety then I'm good. I put MUCH more importance on the track selection in a game than the car selection (doesn't really apply for Horizon of course since there's no actual track but anyway).

Same here.

Glorious!

PS: Thank you, Helios! =}

Yeah, my brother is going to USA next month. Maybe I'll ask him to buy one of these.

Anyway, look what I've found on the mall today:

The race to the festival put a smile on my face! :D

Well done, Turn 10 and Playground Games. Well done!

EDIT: Helios and/or Badned, where do my pictures go? Can't find them in my gallery in forzamotorsport.net

Do they go somewhere else or are they locked?

EDIT 2: GZUZ Christ, this game is GLORIOUS!

Just PM'ed you about the pictures :)

Here I am!

Two days ago I went to the official presentation of Horizon in Madrid, with Ralph Fulton, and I was able to pick up a promotional copy, since I'm going to review the game for a web where I'm doing stuff now.

One of the first steps, of course, was to fire up the livery editor after having the luck of being the BMW M1 my first barn find, and do this:

(I don't know how to get my pics from the server too...)

I can confirm the game is great fun. It's all I expected. It's FM4, but with the open world and the sense of freedom of TDU, and the atmosphere of NFS Pro Street. Lots of fun!

Also, the Colorado State Trooper Charger is now where it belongs:

And finally, night pic:

Love your liveries as always Jorge... glad to see your M1 design make a comeback!

Thanks! It was nice to make the design by myself, for the first time (In the M1, at least)

Now I have to finish my Colorado license plate, and then, I'll make the badges for the classic Mini. It just needs them. (All of this will be on my storefront, of course. In fact, the M1 is already there)

Hmm, mine was a different car. So, this is not something linear...

Yes, PG/Turn 10 said they're random.

For example, in the presentation, my first barn find was a Bugatti EB110.

Jorge, those barn find spoilers dude! lol
I'm still wondering if you will get the notification about barn finds if you don't have the radio on. Helios do you know the answer to that?

We already know what the barn find cars are...

I also remember reading/hearing that the Alice chick is the one who let's you know about the barn finds..

I'm not sure if this has been discussed yet, but as pointed out in threads at FM.net and Forzacentral, there's apparently a hidden STM assist in the game that is enabled unless you select "Expert" difficulty first in the difficulty settings, and then adjust the sub-options to your liking. For pad users, it's also suggested to turn the inner steering deadzone to 0, (default is 24).

I gave this a shot last night, (all assists off), and it definitely improved the feel of the game, particularly with the Viper, which previously had some unexpected understeer and seemed to break traction randomly. Now it rotates more naturally and feels more progressive and predictable. The Evo X, too, feels better on the dirt course, although the difference isn't quite as noticeable as with the Viper, no doubt due to its AWD.

Horizon doesn't have the heft or nuance of FM4's unassisted handling, but it's in a league of its own among games of this ilk.

Anyone here going to the launch event at Fabric in London this coming Thursday? Thought it might be cool to have an informal GAF meet there.

The classic Mini with the Austin logos. And the stripes are like that because of a unpaintable area between the front and the bonnet...

Sorry, you're right. As saladine said, we know the cars, but maybe some people don't want to know them now...

I was just joking. Not sure anyone would really care about that stuff.
I will say though that I like that it's random order on what cars you are told about.

On a side note I know what I'll be playing this weekend.

It's the Mad Katz one, I was misled.
UKGaf: the MS FFB wheel is on Amazon right now, approx £65. I think these things are hard to come by so hope this helps someone. Can't easily link to it on my iPhone right now.

Are retailers breaking street date?? I wish my GameStop would do that :(

Fingers crossed that my local flea market has it this weekend. Downside is, if they do, it will most likely be just the regular version and not the LCE which I have pre-ordered - but we all have to make sacrifices. :(

I couldn't help but laugh at this comment on one of the car reveals on Facebook.

Put in some regular cars ! And fresh cars, it's Forza 4 pasted into colarado. Teenagers will play this, teenagers drive corsas, pug 106's and saxos etc. put those into the game ?!

is that wireless floaty wheel well reccomended?

I quite like it, for what it is. Maybe this helps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDbse3ouTNs

Or this:
Exactly, I see it as a nice little "starter" wheel. It helps you get used to how wheels work, how much turning radius you need, etc. And then once you get good with that, you can consider shelling out the crazy money for a new one.

I really REALLY like the Speed Wheel. It has shockingly good sensors and lets you really fine tune how much steering you put into the cars. It does really well at smooth movements and small increments. It is really worth a look.
Or this:
I love the Wireless Speed Wheel. You can rest it on your lap, and it's not tiring at all. It really helps to smooth out your driving style, compared to a pad.
My only disappointment was that in Forza 4 you can shift gears on the speed wheel with the d-pad, and that option didn't seem to be available in the Forza Horizon demo (where you can only shift gears with the buttons).
Or this:
Yeah I can vouch for the Speed Wheel as well. Suprisingly accurate. Only real issue is the strange omission of the bumper buttons.

I throw a pillow on my left and right to rest my elbows on and it is great. Need to dig mine back out for FH.

Hey guys, Is this the wheel you are talking about? I tried the SpeedWheel yesterday, it's fun, but I'm used to my G27 so it's not really what I was looking for. I thougt the the wheel on the pic, was not that great tbh, bur maybe I'm wrong ( I remember reading somewhere it was discontinued because it would overheat easily ).

Anyway, could you guys recommend this wheel?

Can anyone give me a heads up if there's a contest to win a copy of this game anywhere? I'm so mad that UGO got bought out because the new owners stopped doing the giveaway contests. They were cheap since they just made you wait all day refreshing their page until a keyword came up and you had to tweet it first to win, but it was an easier way for me to win if I put in the time which is all I have right now, lol.

This game looks to be my new PGR replacement for the time being so maybe I can get a little down the road when it's cheaper. I fucking hate the holiday season when there's so many games and I have to choose 3 or so, lol.

The Rally thing is a little annoying, but I wouldn't buy it anyway so it doesn't bug me as much. I just hope they have some real content down the road to keep this game fresh but also not ripping people off with outrageous pricing. Gearbox does DLC pricing perfectly and they're the most generous with the price per hour ratio considering how long their DLC takes to complete. Maybe Microsoft thinks Rally adds so much time to the game that it's worth it? lol

I preordered the collectors edition.. and looks like im going to play it AFTER all the rest here because the stores with pre-order are not selling the game while most of the other store are :( , it sucks!

Installing now...I don't know how much I'll actually play. It was bad enough when I bought the LCE last year and only played just to play with the livery...which amounted to make 10 hours total then collected dust.

I'll go through the livery and game a bit; I probably won't keep the game long as I'll just pick up Halo 4. Which I might not play much either lol.

But uhh, was the livery updated/better in this?

It's a decent enough wheel if the price is right, just don't go comparing it to your G27. Pedals are flimsy but it's possible to put together a cheap cable to connect the wheel to your G27's pedals.

That's what I have and I love it. No complaints.

Look, I'm a die hard racing games fan. I play from Burnout to GTR series, I Love Forza and PGR. The more I play Horizon, the more I get in love with it. Honestly... *HONESTLY*, I gues that this is the best racing game on the Xbox.

It's just... stunning. So f***in' good...

Wow, it works! o.o'

Does the game feature proper custom soundtrack support like a GTA where you can turn to a mp3 station, or is it just 'hey you can use the system level media player while playing the game'

Hey guys, wanted to ask you something, what's the most iconic rally paint for The Ford Cosworth for each of you?

I have three in mind but I won't have time to make all three, so I was wondering which one people actually consider the most iconic rally paint for Cosworth?
