For it all, the game will try to load and give a message. I found this out the hard way at uni a while ago and it's one of the reasons why I had to start the game again.Drastic said:For the career, right?

Disc 2 is broken up into four packs that act like downloadable content. If it's installed on your hard drive, then the game reads it and adds in the content seamlessly. If not, then you won't see these cars or tracks in your game and can't use them in online multiplayer.
Yoritomo said:I'm really confused about the LCE now. The list of vehicles in the American Car pack lists the Corvette ZR-1. Is this the 1990 ZR1?
I'm more than willing to buy the LCE if it's the only way to get the ZR1 in game. I'm just trying to figure out if I need to buy the LCE to get the 2009 C6 ZR1.
Actually, this isn't any different than how the second disc of the platinum hits version of Mass Effect lets you install Bringing Down the Sky, an NXE theme and gamerpics.Jtyettis said:http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/103/1031109p1.html
So, this is the first instance that I know of MS has allowed this to work like this. All games with multiple discs going forward should work this way imo. I hope this is exactly what they start allowing for both first party and third party.
Anyhow, none too worried about the install size as I install everything and hopefully it helps the load times out some.
blanky said:It probably is the '90 since officially the '09 ZR1 is in the LCE pack which can only be obtained through a code available in the LCE. Had me wondering for a while but I'm not taking my chances, it's not that expensive and I really really like the current gen of Corvette's.
Also the presence of Fuji, Positano and Nür don't really surprise me. All those courses are four times as big as the normal ones and I think the tracks are most visibly updated compared to FM2. Doesn't really matter to me anyway tbh since I got the 120 for christmas last year.
All I hope is that my rennsport arrives in time.
If like forza 2, us EU people had a LE with 3 cars, for others without the LE including americans you had to either buy from other users on the auction house or win one from turn 10 in some way or another.Yoritomo said:Nevermind it is the 1990 as the Corvette GS is on disc 2, since they're both a C4 I'd imagine it's the 1990 ZR1.
That still makes me wonder if the only way to get the C6 ZR1 is by buying the LCE.

So... Top 1% with controller is something special eh? With no assists plus manual? Hmm... that makes me feel good! Actually come to think if it... I havn't raced with any assists at all in the demo :O
I reckon Che should give out gift cars for those people... since top 1% is apparently too huge![]()

Mandatory installs are getting console gaming just one step closer to PC gaming.
Played the demo for the first time today, very impressed with the environment and comfortable rewind function. Driving feels fine, would've liked a bit more oomph to contact, spins and crashes (coming from Shift which does all these well), but it's still fine.
By far the best part was the replay mode, though. A shitton of cameras (helicopter cam!) and the ability to choose which car the camera follows. Codemasters and EA with their shitty replay options left in the fucking dust.
Well, looking at the car and track (Nordschleife!) list on disc 2, I consider it pretty much mandatory in practice. Hell, I wish it was completely mandatory, it would send the better message.commedieu said:The install isn't mandatory, but it lets you pick & choose parts of disc2 to install. Fuck the ring. I'm so sick of playing that track in every racing game... and sick of everyone that wants to play it online, all the time.Haunted said:(Nordschleife!)
chespace said:You could think of the 2nd disc as a year's worth of DLC. If you want Nurb, then you should install it. Likewise with any of the car packs in there. We try to make it as flexible as possible for those who are tight on HDD space. But the reality is, we've got a lot of content in the box and even more (tons more) coming down the pipe via DLC. If you don't have some sort of storage solution in this age of digital distribution, Forza 3 on 10/27 won't be the last of your worries.

I'm pretty sure everyone without an HDD will just think of the second disc as part of the retail content they won't get to experience.chespace said:You could think of the 2nd disc as a year's worth of DLC. If you want Nurb, then you should install it. Likewise with any of the car packs in there.
Pretty much. Turn 10 is not at fault here.chespace said:We try to make it as flexible as possible for those who are tight on HDD space. One note about the 2nd disc install: You don't have to install all of it since it is broken up into packs on the disc. You can go back and install the rest of the content at any time.

I strongly disliked both previous Forza games so I wasn't expecting too much for F3. Well, I was wrong. This game is awesome. I just had some totally crazy intense downhill duels on Fujimi Kaido with an ultra buffed up Honda NSX-R, and all I can say is wow. I have quite a few reservations about that game's graphics (mostly lighting) thay I'll go into more details when the embargo is up, but in terms of gameplay Turn 10 totally nailed it.
And with this, I'll shut up until October 8.
Pssst, tell Microsoft to lower the price on their fricken HDDs. Most of my friends are working with like 12GBchespace said:If you don't have some sort of storage solution in this age of digital distribution, Forza 3 on 10/27 won't be the last of your worries.
Don't worry, you'll still love F3. They did the right thing by putting all the stuff that make the game good for me to be optional for hardcore racing guys like you. Stuff like quick upgrades (thank god for that!), rewinds, you name it. Also the sense of actually getting better and doing something more than just doing laps after laps is so much better.professor_t said:As someone who thoroughly enjoyed the previous iterations of the franchise, this may not be good news. What didn't you like about Forza 1 and 2 (other than visuals, I assume)?

I'm all for 2 disk games, one for gameplay and one for install. Developers have been bitching about DVD space for awhile now, having a optional/mandatory install is one way to solve that problem. So it's in Microsoft's best interest to make hard drives available at affordable prices.xenorevlis said:Pssst, tell Microsoft to lower the price on their fricken HDDs.
