Question for people who have got early copy: Does it mention mandatory install to access all cars and tracks on cover?

it is not mandatory, it is optional. Do you want all the content, then yes you will have to install. Can you live without it/dont have the space, the game will work without.

Yeah. I know that. I meant "mandatory install to access all cars and tracks".

Install probably only applies to the 2nd disc and the main disc being just like any other 360 game, where install might benefit but isn't mandatory. Probably best anyway if you have the space and a noisy 360.

@twinturbo2 only longtails sorry.

I know all details. You're still not getting what I was asking. Game is advertised to have around 400 cars in retail version. But you won't be able to access 104 cars and few tracks unless you INSTALL 2nd disc. So my question was is this mentioned clearly on the cover?

Fanatec is the only way, unless you want to make your own.

That's pretty fucked up. So the only way to play F3 with a clutch (with a wheel), is to buy a very limited edition wheel that's only available to certain parts of the world. Longer term is there another wheel coming out?

You mean is there a reason to complain?

Get your car done already jube!!! Are you putting up in your storefront so I can check it out?

I finished one but im not happy with it, I mismanaged my layers and ended up without room to finish. Ill revisit that one later. Im working on a new one right now which I should have done tonight.

I really need to race though haha, me and modus are running into the same problem where we have a design but the only thing to put it on is a yaris :lol

Correct. To have the full advertised "400 cars and 100 tracks" you must install 730mb for the other tracks.. 340-350mb car kits on the second disc to get everything.

Think of it like DLC except you paid 60.00 for the game. To access the entire advertised game you need to install everything on the second disc.

If you don't have a HDD you have to get one for the install. Simple as that.

Well, that's one way to look at that. I'm sure you wouldn't have any problem if this information is missing on cover.
I'm sure most of us have a hard drive. But yeah, I know, you're looking out for common man right? Save them from Microsoft treachery?

I wonder if they've done anything to address downforce disparity between different vehicles. In the upper tier of vehicles there was a pretty large disparity between how much downforce you could have in a particular vehicle. It made highly upgraded lower tier vehicles much less competitive if that vehicle couldn't apply much downforce even with a full aero kit.

The application of this always felt arbitrary to me in forza 2, and in the end only certain vehicles were competitive at the highest level due to this disparity. How has this been addressed in Forza 3? How are those values assigned? By upgrading a vehicle into R class (since you can do that in F3 now) will there be a limit to aero for any particular class for all vehicles or is it on a vehicle per vehicle basis still?

It was just simple question. I didn't mean to latch on it. I had to explain in multiple posts what I was asking because that other person wasn't getting it. You fanboy nuts should stop being overly defensive about everything.

Well, it's probably too late now but trying to make sure people know what they need to have when purchasing a game would save them and Turn 10 a lot of potentially angry experiences.

I'm glad Forza 3 is throwing DLC on a second disk. It's going to be the best racing package they've done.

Like I said, if throwing more discs at a 360 game gives it better quality, then keep throwing discs at it. I don't mind swapping discs.

I'm no fool though, Blu-ray is convenient and I'll be getting FFXIII on the PS3.

Didn't Sony fanboys always say that the 360 was cheaper and still couldn't outsell the PS3 by much? Doesn't everyone else know that the 360 is more expensive once you add Xbox Live? And doesn't everyone remember Aaron Greenberg stating that the Arcade isn't the highest selling 360?

More power to DVD! Bring on the games, not the hate!

This post goes again your tag :lol.

I'm also glad they put it on a second disc rather than free DLC. I live in backwater place where they cap our download so it's great not to download 1.7 gb data.

Turn10 really doesn't get the Impreza 22B properly, it's been ugly in every Forza game :(
I would say it's just the lighting for that track, doesn't look as great as some of the other photo's we have seen.

Still, give it a darker paint job and stick some yellow on it and all is well :D

che didnt gift you proper cars to work with?

You could think of the 2nd disc as a year's worth of DLC. If you want Nurb, then you should install it. Likewise with any of the car packs in there. We try to make it as flexible as possible for those who are tight on HDD space. But the reality is, we've got a lot of content in the box and even more (tons more) coming down the pipe via DLC. If you don't have some sort of storage solution in this age of digital distribution, Forza 3 on 10/27 won't be the last of your worries.

Is the Disc 2 stuff integrated into career mode?

just having the game more than enough hehe, also with the canvas you dont really need cars to work with anymore. I got enough credits now and I picked up a few cars now that will work. If you check out my storefront ingame you can see a little preview of the car im working on.

Im gonna put up the OP up for the livery and Official thread on the 8th. Its a little earlier than usual. well the livery I can Ill pm a mod about the official one so it doesnt get closed.

I can't talk about the stuff in the game but I hope its okay to say that the T10 team really outdid themselves, fans of forza 2 are in for bliss.

Yeah there are several events, even pictures of them when the calendar was previewed, that use stuff from the 2nd disc. Like the tracks for example (fuji and nurburgring events)

Sweet! It's like Forza cherry picked all the raddest stuff from other games (Hopper Multi from Halo, DLC integration from Rock Band) and made like the perfect racing game for me.

SO PSYCHED!!

can someone tell me how shopping for cars is? is it basically the same as f2's marketplace (search by car make and model) only?

it would be cool if sellers could add a set of "tags" (maybe limited to 25 characters) to any item for sale that would be searchable buy buyers. for example, if i wanted to scoop up some well made rally car creations, i could just type in "rally" or "group b" and have it return any cars tagged with those descriptors regardless of make/model.

You should check this video from gamespot, starts around 6 minutes it basically shows how to get your stuff from marketplace/storefront. You can look for designs with 2 fixed key terms and one you can enter yourself. link

Are there any "tuners" who got the game early? I'm really interested in the different options and how the system works, especially the aero options. Tuning was alll I did in Forza 2 really.

Probably that one since it can be quickly done (the ingame font from forza 2 is almost spot on).

Washington & california plates and Gaf logo are on my storefront now. About 70-110 layers each. Not the lightest set of layers but they plates have drop shadows to help the effect a little.

Has anyone heard anything about Forza 3 Microsoft branded Xbox360 accessories? Controllers, wheels, faceplates?
I got my Forza 2 faceplate the week they came out, but I was in Fry's Electronics last night and they were sellin the Forza 2 faceplates for $2.95; If anyone wants one let me know. :lol

Blockbuster UK currently taking pre-orders of the LE for £39.99.
Cancelled my pre-order with Game and put my £2 deposit down in store (advertised at same price on website).
May have been mentioned earlier but worth mentioning again.

Do you happen to know if they get it to you on the day of release? Bought if so.

I can wait if they delay, but do they take money instantly or on release?

Isn't the GAME BMW pre-order bonus an exclusive car, though?

I'm sure that's what people on ForzaCentral were saying; GAME's pre-order bonus is an actual exclusive car, while other retailers are just offering a livery for an included car (like Gamestation).

That's the only reason I have my pre-order with GAME, anyway.

I've never ordered from Blockbuster online before so wasn't sure if I'd get it on release.
Thought best to call the local store and they confirmed the same price and that, even stranger, the standard edition was the same price.
Double checked with the manager and he said that if the price is a mistake and is raised, I would pay the price that I had preordered it at.

I cancelled my order with Game as I thought the price difference more than made up for the lack of the Audi and BMW. I kinda hope I'll be handed a leaflet with codes when I pickup the game but saving £15 is a bargain for me.

I believe I remember reading that they will charge online when dispatched.
