Which track did you get to drive it on? I've always wanted to do one of those supercar test days.

Sarcasm radar has detected a statement directed towards me.

Obviously I have not driven it. However, I do have the ability to read just about every major and minor publication/test about the car. Unanimously, the car is praised for its razor sharp handling and criticized for its overall lack of speed/acceleration compared to cars in its class (458, GTR, 911 Turbo, MP4-12c, Gallard Super Leggera, etc). Don't worry though, that other game does not do a great job with its performance ranking system either.

Agreed. For some reason in those shots there's not *quite* the sense of realism as with GT5, but it's edging closer. I imagine with some contrast/brightness/colour tweaking it should be every bit as good.

What I like is that shit is looking arguably LUSH (for a racing game) and full, not hollow at all, I can't explain it but that's just the vibe I'm getting from the game.

Cant wait for us to get some direct screencaps from the frame buffer with some AA/bullshottery on :p

After watching infenions trailer I am so fucking pumped with the racing action man... The recent details mentioned on the last pit pass are going to make a HUGE difference in the game.

Actually, now I think about it, the shots that don't sit well with me are where the position of the camera isn't something you'd expect IRL ie. the in-game yet 3rd person views. Most of the others look fine and the last pic of the red Lexus looks nigh-on perfect.

Fuck. Need demo now.

In other news here's my progress on the LFA cover... I need T10 logos and a better quality LFA without a license plate messing it up.

I'll keep working on it lol... Totally noob with this shit, G Rom, shinn or Jube3 should make some covers lol

It would've been awesome if at the end of the TGUS episode they were like, "you can try to beat Tanner's time with the Forza demo available now!" Talk about a missed opportunity!

That actually looks pretty great. I'd take it over the limited edition boxart. :p

Oh I'm sure one of us would have done very well against him, he wouldn't want to wreck the car lol..

The two co-hosts were newbie as hell with the wheel/game.

Not really, needs more details :(

I plan to make a legit retail looking one with back of box screens etc and a totally clean minimalist one with no logos.

I was going to post the same question. I don't think they will be used for autovista (as that seems locked to the white warehouse from everything we've seen), but I'd love to be able to use them for home spaces. I'm a little concerned that we've only seen the white warehouse so far out of all of those shown in that gif. We've seen the Stelio Pass and Top Gear homespaces, but those aren't shown in that montage.

I'm starting to think that the clinical and basic white warehouse deals with IBL better than any of the other environments, and that's why this feature is only available there. I've got another theory that New York and Positano were dropped because of performance hits as IBL tried to cope with all the varied lighting from environment textures so close to the cars.

We did get an autovista demonstration in that one desert environment though.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8ZAv4KB2D4

It does look less realistic than the warehouse, but this build was pretty early.

Absolutely LOVE the colors and lighting, it'll look pretty awesome with a whole grid of cars on that track

Disagree about the lighting they need to hire someone who understands lighting still.

Looks much better than FM3 I'll admit that.

Still overall looks good because the track does look good in terms of detail. Like Slayer says it does look lush and detailed. Slick framerate and 12-16 cars on it with full out liveries it will look hot...but it could still look better. The modelling is there and the texturing is there they just need a guy to tweak the lighting to look more realistic is all I'm saying.

You're on!

Man I want some more classic Japanese rides (read: early rotary's).

Still wanting picture evidence of that XB falcon!

Demo should be pretty soon though, right?

Yup. It will be technically impressive but the tweaks they need to do aren't really related to hardware. I'm worried that seeing as it's gone gold, that's the last we'll see of graphical tweaks... though we did get gear shifting post-launch with FM3 so maybe we'll be lucky.

RUT-ROH?
KARKILLA?
Are corners named (on tracks where corners have names) during replays now?
Has this been mentioned before?

If so it's be cool if they named corners on the fantasy tracks as well. Turn 10 could run a comp on their forums to name corners on certain circuits. I'd suggest "Balls Of Steel" for the high speed right-hander that takes you on to the home straight on Maple Valley, and "The Bastard" for the off-camber uphill right-hander just before the chicanes.

By the way, Karkilla is a great name for a corner. :lol

I personally think the lighting looks great simply because the game isn't plagued by harsh highlights, save for those shots where you're facing the sun. The only real problem here imho is the general contrast in some shots where the blacks seemed crushed (then again gamma levels is something the 360 internally ramps up, which doesn't help given the inherent compression in video captures).

But they do have a much better lighting and reflection system in place, so getting good-looking photomode screenshots won't be that much of a challenge in finding the right balance between brightness and contrast settings.

LOL..! My bad. First time I've ever seen anything of that show.

Still, my idea wasn't a bad one. Why not name famous corners on replay cameras?

We need the lighting and color guys to make a full analysis of the game when released and all the suggestions coralled into one list.

Same for the physics guys, vehicle sound guys, car exterior customization guys, livery editor guys, vehicle model accuracy guys, track master guys, photomode guys, netcode guys, soundtrack guys etc-fucking-cetera.

T10 is in this shit for the longhaul and all great suggestions need to be made early since our guys over at T10 get going quick! ;)

Are you bitches excite yet!?

This was done after FM2 and FM3 (and probably after FM, too). What makes you think Turn 10 will listen to suggestions this time? Even when they ask direct questions (T10: What tracks do you want? World: Spa and Bathurst! T10: Here's Indy and Hockenshite!) the results are ignored..! :lol

Let's get on it asap :)

I really want more gameplay/editing additions and tweaks more than anything to be honest, they definitely need to add a glorious amount of tracks in the long run.

still doesn't look like we'll be able to customize controls

Notice the "advanced" option, maybe it's for customization ?
Also, I think we should be reading "toggle heat/damage" which would be in line with previous FM where you could bring the damage and tire heat maps with the same button.
BTW, thanks for the screenshots. :)

Pretty sure that heat damage thing is just that little map of the car which shows what parts have taken damage. Gets redder with more damage, like a heat map.

That's what I imagine, the same as FM3's right arrow that toggles the damage map and temperatures map..

Nice screen grabs as well! Infineon is looking a really surprisingly good track, I wasn't that excited for it, but I think just on looks alone it pee's all over the 'Hock..

finally non metallic red paint looks good in a forza, yay !

Also, these shots and the other grabs on previous page confirm full lod is used ingame and during replays for non-full races at least.

I remember they did tweak some things with either 2 or 3 between when initial screens were released and the game was out. I distinctly remember a problem with pink taillights in a few screens that was fixed before (or maybe even after) the game was released.

This image from the April trailer:

vlcsnap-2011-05-06-17h12m33s29.png

BADNED says it's an early rework of Camino, showing the sweeping turn at the bottom of the hill. I'm still not convinced and reckon this could be a red herring. The trees and topography scream Alpine region to me, not Montserrat. The mountain in particular are NOTHING like the famed Camino rocks. And how do you explain the snow?

Could this be an early screen of an Alpine Ring update?

Unleash the Forza detectives!

Apologies for the double post, but Coolshop has the FM4 LCE for £45 at the moment. Think this might be UK only, not sure.

Didn't link to it in case it breaks the rules.

Don't see anything wrong with that, it's a completely legit shop and I've bough quite a few games from the finnish coolshop site.

If you don't want to post it here can you send me the link in pm? I wanna see if the UK one ships to Finland, I'd totally bite at that price.

EDIT: Ah found it myself, looks like they don't ship outside UK :( . Any UK GAFfer want to help me out? :p

Those ratings are so subjective. An 8.3 for speed might seem high, but those cars you mentioned might be even higher, giving you the "lack of speed". I'm just saying, I'm sure T10 did their due diligence to ensure comparisons such as the one you made play out in the game the they would on a track.

Paskowitz, I challenge you to a duel. The Forza equivalent of GT5's go karts around the Nurburgring.

I thought it was a GAME exclusive?

Apparantly it's EU stock, they are a Danish company with a UK webshop..

I'm slightly tempted as I haven't pre-ordered, but if it didn't turn up release day, that's the whole weekend sat around listening to all the *hopefully* joyful accounts from everyone else playing it.. (That's on top of the 3 days after the US release!)..

Background elements do look different, but BADNED has already confirmed what is pretty obviously that long, tight corner at the bottom of the run after Turn 1.

Hold out hope if you want, but I'd say this is pretty much case-closed.

the corner looks the same, environment looks completely different.
(also, the part in the video immediately after or before that, shows a straight in the same environment that looks very different from Camino)

It's strange though, the part of ladera we saw in gametrailers video didn't look that different from the old Montserrat, from what you could see anyway in that blurry overexposed mess.

( Pisses you off because that walkthrough had tons of stuff we hadn't seen anywhere else, but you could barely tell what was going on)

Badned confirmed it's Camino though, don't hope it's a new track (although i still think they haven't told us everything yet...and i'm not talking about Indy)

So anyone in the UK willing to do me a favor and order that coolshop LCE? I'll just paypal you the money for the game and postage. I'll still save 15 or more euros from it compared to here and I don't really mind waiting a week or so after release to play it, I'm not that impatient anymore when it comes to games.

I hate to be pedantic but the stats are all wrong in this image. The LFA has great lateral grip and handling dynamics, but actually lags a bit in straight line speed and acceleration.

I'm not actually certain how you can compare acceleration and handling using the same scale.

They are probably just comparing handling to other cars and acceleration to other cars, but not necessarily comparing handling to acceleration.

That's why I've ordered from Coolshop AND Game, just in case Coolshop got it wrong and can't sell the LCE for whatever reason, or if they can't guarantee delivery. I'd cancel prior to dispatch if this was the case. If both turn up on release day, then Game's will be returned using their free returns policy.
