Forza Motorsport 4 - The Floodgates Have Opened...

antiquegamer said:
I have three of their fight stick and they are all great. But don't forget in this thread we try find every little negative thing about Forza 4 and spin it so it doesn't look like trolling.

It started after about page 30, up until then it was quite nice. Now it's a list of 100 things that are good on a blog with 2 things bad and the 2 things is all people discuss.

I blame T10 partially for their shitty "connection with the fans" ... but at the same time our expectations are a little high expecting to know everything about the game 1 month+ out.

I know I'm completely happy with all the knowledge they've been dropping. Game looks fantastic and cars/tracks are fine with me, I'm not a serious motorhead and don't care about most of the tracks people mention, I just want to race.

The one thing they haven't touched upon that has me worried is the picture export. I seriously hope they don't fuck that up and limit it to what was in Forza 3.

So is there a good reason to buy this with Forza 3 already out?

Better graphics, better sound, better racing gameplay tweaked and enhanced all around with the ability to turn off all assists and better multiplayer competitive options and system + community + the unseen customization features and other details we don't know about.

Yeah there's good reason, I sure as hell can't wait for my LE to get here.

Don't worry, I'll make sure that the complains look like trolling.

Yeah, what were T10 thinking ? releasing Forza 4 when Forza 3 is already out ? crazy peeps.

yes, tons of good reasons it seems.

I bought the LE for Forza 3 but I highly doubt I'll do the same for this.

I never really use the extra stuff in limited editions. :/

This is the first LE of any game I bought. Paid for in full last month.

Gears 3 should keep my busy until Oct. 11, unless there's a FM4 demo.

I hate to be pedantic but the stats are all wrong in this image. The LFA has great lateral grip and handling dynamics, but actually lags a bit in straight line speed and acceleration.

Which track did you get to drive it on? I've always wanted to do one of those supercar test days.

still doesn't look like we'll be able to customize controls

Odd why they would change it. "Look back" has always been mapped to Y and change camera on RB. It's been this way since FM2, I believe. Really no reason to change this.

From the same reason why 70% of Premium models, including "euro hatches", in GT5 have wheels on the right side.

They had US model on disposal, so they've model it.
Euro spec headlight kits were wildly popular here in the US on both the MkI, and MkII that it really surprises me they didn't go in direction with their models.

aren't colors / skydome quite a bit different from the trailer we just saw ?
also lighting on cars looks different
the 'pitch black unless directly lit by the sun' is back in full force here

ibl this isn't, the car is supposed to get quite a lot of light coming from the skydome, not just the sun. While it looks nice it doesn't solve the lighting issues fm3 had and ends up looking very similar. Old build maybe ?

I think it's just that metallic blue paint causing that, the red car is much brighter.

There's no spectators, so it could be an old build. Then again, in the Infineon trailer, there are sections where there are no spectors and some that have them in.

It's possible that it's one of the upgrade options though... I guess. We haven't seen anything at all re: aftermarket gear, so we could be surprised! If so, it might even possible we can do our own Sileighty.

I think that there are no spectators in Time Trial/Single Player races to save polygons for highest poly model.

That's what I was thinking.

It could've been recorded a while back.

Sure, that would be great. If not, it's not the end of the world, or anything. It's just one of those things that would have been nice if somebody at T10 had picked up on.

Alps vid from Gamescom (with Dan's BMW) had 12 player race with spectors, and the old trailer showed Suzuka with 16 cars.

Edit, NM. Didn't read your post correctly.

Well, they've hinted that you'll be able to completely remove bumpers, so hopefully there's the option to install even more outrageous kits and even do factory-style body swaps (just like how engine swaps worked in FM3, but with a visible change as well).

I was under the impression that damage was off from the footage we saw in the episode but I guess it was on/limited

hopefully we can remove factory spoilers!

I hate internet journalism.
Below are first previews and a short video of the Infineon Raceway, another new track to make it into FM4 following Hockenheim, Dubai, the Top Gear Test Track and the fictional Alps circuit. Located in California, the track is also known as Sears Point or Sonoma, it hosts an annual NASCAR Sprint Cup round and has also hosted road racing like the American Le Mans Series in the past.

Even if it's just basic stuff like that, I'd be pretty happy. There are a lot of cars that I prefer the look of without certain parts.

On another note, that was the first time I'd really seen anything of Infineon aside from the track layout on Wikipedia. Have to say, it seems like a good, fun inclusion. Actual racing tracks I wouldn't mind as long as they have elevation changes and interesting layouts.

Did anyone else know about this?. I know that the ALMS partnership had been announced, but wasn't aware they named some tracks as part of the deal:
The most stunningly realistic racing circuits and cars that fans know and love from the ALMS, including Sebring, Road Atlanta, Road America, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and 26 ALMS cars.

Old build or not, those shots are hot. I'm loving the new color scheme, so much better than FM3, and in some cases it really is spot on.

I can't wait.

"Toggle heat damage"? What's that... wouldn't be flat spots on tyres, would it?
Noticed that as well. It could be actual tyre heat stats separate to the telemetry. Or, it could be engine temps(oil,water..etc)?

Regarding Dubai, didn't we see something about Dubai in a trailer somewhere?
I think it was that first trailer with the snakes and shit.

THE WORDS! They'll drift away without the _!
Pretty sure that heat damage thing is just that little map of the car which shows what parts have taken damage. Gets redder with more damage, like a heat map.

Yeah, as soon as I made that post I figured what it probably is. I think they're called "heat maps" regardless of what they're displaying. In this case, damage.
