You guys are greedy. There has been tons of info, a steady stream in fact. And now you're so used to it that nothing below a megaton will impress you. Try some games where you must wait a month or several months to eventually get a tidbit of info about difficulty settings or some shit. In this case, the overwhelming amount of info already has only heightened expectations and spoiled y'all.
Which effectively makes a shitty, shitty marketing approach.
I ve been to a couple of marketing research/ focus group sessions about videogames and other stuff. If it was about a racing game and i let shine trought that i am big racing fan i became completly uninterrsting for them. They knew i would buy the game anyways and would start to focus on the other people and find out what would be needed to make them buy the game. I have the feeling thats the same approach T10 is taking this time around with their marketing. Why waste resourcces on the racing crowd which is going to a) dissect and spin every little detail given and b) buy the game anyways, so i think we will see a lot more facebook stuff and TV ads around the release date and hopefully a demo.

I wish they could learn from other racing game developpers on how to promote their game...
- Despite the game being delayed (almost) a million times, the GT5 trailers were pretty badass and explicit, good enough to make the fans forgive Yamauchi.
- Electronic Farts is doing pretty well imo with NFS The Run, nice trailers and screenshots regularly.
- Codemasters are doing well, regular news and info about the game and its new features, developper's diary, screenshots, sweet and dynamic trailers.
I understand people have loads of expectations for FM4 and that Turn10 may be under pressure finishing the game and preparing for the launch in October.
Best announcement was the leaked trailer, E3 announcement lost a lot of impact because of it but since that day, the way Turn10 has been handling their promo has been a mess apart from the "under the hood" articles.
TGS event is a perfect exemple of Microsoft stupid marketing strategy.
Kinect-only on the showfloor? No cockpits with driving wheel? What a joke... I hope Dan is angry and will tell Microsoft he is for that bad exposure.
Fuck the daily car reveals without screenshots, fuck the off-screen crappy footage, fuck the announcement of old tracks we already knew were in for ages, fuck Kinect!
We want badass trailers, direct feed in-game footage, we want to see racing!!!
Since we already know what we have and what we won't have, speculation and hype time is over, show us the game Turn10.

The problem is knowing or being told there are still announcements to be made and waiting for those, never getting them (or getting them very close to release). We're just curious. If we were told or were sure that's all, we would just be waiting for the game to release.
For the record, i'm still waiting for open wheels/classif F1 at least...

Hey, we did get Crackdown 2 for a bit. But they really need to spread their marketing around... so far it seems like only Halo and Kinect. Can't remember the last time I saw an ad here in Australia for a 360 exclusive game. Plenty of PS3/Nintendo exclusives and multiplat game ads that are presented by MS, but none that stand out at all. Shit, mention the V8 Supercars (which have been notably absent at this point in time), the XB Falcon and the Commodore in an ad during a race or the F1 or the Sunday sports show and you'd sell bucketloads to people who have never even heard of Forza before.

Only in the videogame industry would the fanbase be frothing about not being able to know every last detail a month before a thing is even on store shelves.
I know, because internet, right? but there are some particular posts here that border on crazy. You can't even buy the thing yet. Reviews aren't even out. there is still 26 days for every last pebble to be overturned so when the game arrives there is nothing left for anyone to be interested in hearing.

Instead of a couple screens for the track reveals, how about a short video clip, or even a full lap? And it's sad that I have to google some of the car reveals because they are in text form.
Take Gears 3 for example. Each time they reveal something new, it's usually in video form and up on marketplace the next day. I still don't understand why the "Hockenhiem and alps" making of videos are still not on marketplace.

The road would only be this dark if the whole tree canopies were casting shadows onto the road, but it's not. It seems like the sun is very high up and thus we have the low tree shadows, so the sunlight is still lighting the road and it should be lit pretty much the same as the valley.
Either that, or there would be no tree shadows at all since they're masked by the whole mountain casting its shadow over the road, making it different from the valley's lighting.

And while I'm feeling cranky, why does turn10 release so much info around 6pm PST. It would make sense if they were not located in the U.S. But they are so what's the deal. Their goal should be 6pm EST 3pm PST, releasing info so late in the night is so strange.

The trees in the background photo don't match the lighting of the rendered trees close up.
I feel sorry for Turn10 being pushed around by MS though. They were forced to release a game so soon and they are not getting any support here.
Taking some concepts I've learned here is how roads look like when I drive on a mountain on a sunny day like that...
The sunlight should "bleach" the road and cars and everything. People say hey turn down the saturation...well thats what sunlight does because it bleaches colors out.

*edit* read what you lot said over the pages, I still think that fuji looks wrong being that dark especially with what background they are using.
If the sun was that low the tree shadows would not be blobs but stretching completely over along with shadow from the road itself, in those pictures they are not so the sun is still high up.
I don't think the lighting is that bad in that photo, it looks like a lot of valleys I have seen going up the mountains. Plus we don't know when this photos were taken or how they were taken so is too early to freakout.. but seems like everyone is in total freak out mode in this thread right this moment.
