The Clio V6 tune I made (maybe? there hasn't been any feedback on it).

You wanted some feedback, consistently 5 seconds faster around Catalunya national than stock, the anchors are a huge improvement, the pick up is quicker and turning in seems improved. If there's a fault it is it's harder to recover if you're an idiot like me and spin up on the track edge. :(

I'm not surprised to hear this. I'm still playing Shift 2 several years after it came out because the wide variety of tracks gives the game incredible legs. There's a fraction of the FM5 car count but it doesn't matter one bit when you can race all day and never play the same track twice.

Sorry fellas, it's been a super busy week. Sunday is still a go with Crude's C-Class Clio. Everyone who's racing grab it from him and get ready for some fun on Sunday.

All I know is, Forza is really lacking in depth.

It really needs variety. Whether it's in the form of weather, night, new racing disciplines,tracks..etc.
The cone challenges, bowling and other attempts at adding in variety just doesn't cut it in the slightest. The monotony has truly set in...

If it wasn't for Spa and Bathurst, I would've been bored much earlier on...

Yes, there's those 2 but track selection is just ridiculous otherwise.
And yes, there's open wheels but other than that car selection is not as varied or interesting.

I think my honeymoon with the franchise is finally over.
Removing the ring and fujimi (which alone provided quite some variety, being a completely different drive from any other track in the game)was a fatal 1-2 for me.
I just tried playing again but I am just frustrated at the game, at both forza and gt actually. They keep racing on parallel lines, they keep improving on their strengths without addressing their weaknesses, forza being a much worse offender.
This is too little

The track selection was excellent. And the Legends Pack was some of the best DLC released for a racing game - historic versions of tracks and some old cars to play with.

Shame the handling is so cack.

I am sure I have the latest update but the second and third special paints are still called chrome and gold instead of gloss and semi-gloss even though the two before the wood colours are chrome and gold.
Anyone else have this issue and know how to correct it?
Thanks.

Out of the box, yes. It's such a shame so many people dismiss the game based on this popular misconception. A two minute web search for settings solves the handling issues, and you are then left with a deep and exhilarating racing experience with a wide and varied selection of circuits to choose from. The excellent FFB through a good wheel also makes Forza's seem weak and insipid.

Shift 2 is console racing's best-kept secret.

You're making the assumption I haven't spent months playing the game. It's one of my most played games of the last generation.

But despite many a fix, messing with configs, community patches, and lots of car tuning the handling never does get very good. It's always a battle. And it shouldn't be.

It's a real shame as the content and game progression is superb.

Please do address me directly if you have a problem with my opinion rather than the passive aggressive "many people" nonsense. And please don't try to dismiss my opinion because you believe I played the game for just five minutes. I own both the Xbox 360 and PC versions and have spent a long time with each. Fine you disagree. Woohoo.

Hitting the bottle a little early today?

The FFB was Terrible in shit shift 2.

I really wasn't making any assumptions about your time with the game. Why on earth would I?

I didn't address you directly because my response wasn't aimed directly at you. It was a comment on the widespread perception (unfair, in my own opinion) that Shift 2 has bad, unfixable handling. I certainly don't have a "problem" with your (or any one else's) opinion on the matter: after much tweaking I've got a set-up I'm more than happy with, and find the game a joy to play with it.

I find your "passive aggressive" comments baffling and slightly insulting. You're finding drama where there really isn't any.

Hitting the bottle a little early today?

The FFB was Terrible in shit shift 2.

Ah, sorry - was mainly talking about the force and aggression of the FFB in Shift 2, not the subtle nuances.

What was the fix for the handling in the Xbox version?

I only briefly tried the PC one and didn't get on with it at all, I'm aware of the Polish tyre mod (didn't get around to trying it iirc) but little else.

What was the fix for the handling in the Xbox version?

I've no idea if there was a specific patch for the handling or not on the 360. I took some recommended settings (from forums on the Fanatec website, I think) and tweaked them slightly. I have to pause/unpause the game once at the start of every race to 'reset' the FFB, but apart from that I'm really happy with the handling, and you know how much Forza I've played over the years. It's a lot different to Forza, but I find it a lot more involving, more visceral.

Did you ever update the firmware on your wheel too?

Later Fanatec firmware had some nice improvements. There's less weight but more detail.

I bought a wheel

:/

Nice, I'm sure you'll soon be thankful you picked it up, I'm still having a blast and the more I get used to it the more I'm appreciating the improvements they made.

I didn't because there was ongoing debate about which version was best. I remember some people were reinstalling older firmware.

Any tips?

I'd try the latest mate, it's easy to flash but before you do try and find your original firmware just incase you don't like it. There was only one or two shipped firmwares that didn't get a release but apart from some small bug fixes are exactly the same. Big changes happened around 740's iirc, the 750's are more of a refinement.

Best place to try them on is Forza 4. I think the newer firmware let you turn off damper completely which is a good start.

Edit: you'll need to recalibrate the shifter after you flash.

this alone puts fm3 right up there with games in the series to play.

Such an annoying track to race clean but also a fun one with the right car setup, R1 did not belong there which a lot of online players voted for every damn time...

I'm still waiting for the return of New York full and Alpine Raceway, oh and Tokyo Night.

if you take the time to learn it, it wasnt hard at all - or, at least as hard as any 7+ minute track would be while pushing hard and still getting a clean lap. it was an amazing track for A and lower cars and felt unlike anything else in the series. it, or something similar, really needs to return. i could time attack rally di positano forever.

Come on t10...

how hard is it to add back the custom garage sort options from f4?

while you are at it,please add a line in the car drop down menu in garage linking to all available League choices directly available.

ie, click on focus st in garage, "go to leagues" takes you to any league choices available for it including if up/downgradable.

Is anyone here rocking a Thrustmaster TX 458 Italia with a wheel stand? If so which wheel stand are you using and would you recommend it? Thanks!

Wheelstand pro v2. Works fine, had to use some other bolts for the pedals as the ones that came with it weren't long enough. The holes for the wheel's mounts matched up ok.

Xbrones, sorry for the late notice but I won't be able to make the races today. Got some people over for the playoff game, and depending on how the '9ers fare, the consumption of certain beverages may render me unfit to drive.

I'll be there. Lots of household adventures today.

Edit: Forza is applying an update. It's been 98% done for two minutes.

Edit 2: if you were wondering, hitting unready at the last second means you spend the race in the lobby with no option to spectate.

Thanks for the races guys. I'll tally up the points a little later. I'm thinking Crude will still be in first. P3tran, sorry you missed the races and then we all couldn't hear you in game when you did join. Next week will be the Ford mustang Cobra R. Open to suggestions for tracks.

WTF

What The Fuck!

So apparently I live in one of the areas where Amazon delivers on Sunday. That's awesome.............but my $400 wheel has been sitting outside my door for the past 6hrs. What they will deliver but fuck ringing your doorbell.

That's fucked up, seriously fucked up. Guess they didn't need a proof of delivery on an expensive item...

No signature means it was lost in the post or stolen, doesn't it..?

What signature? You get lucky if they ring the bell, most of the time they just drop the box by the door and they're gone ;)

i actually pray for ups/usps fuck ups on amaons orders. have gotten a few duplicate orders via this in the past year. most recently i ordered three storage shelves for the garage (with free shipping!) and only two delivered (so far). emailed amazon and they are sending out three (!) new shelves! five, maybe six, for the price of three. insane.

C500? Turns out there's fuck-all that's adjustable stock on the '00 Cobra R.

Also, Ferrari 360CS stock-but-tuned please please please.

Anyone want to try to build an IROC Camaro? Take the shitty pony car and make a spec race car out of it like they used in the '80s.

Oh shit I forgot about the Ferrari, yes the 360CS will be next week. We'll do a Mustang/IROC race the week after.
