I really needed this since all my virus software expired and my system has been acting funny.

AVG Free Edition is what I use.

Avast is good also...vigiantly updated virus definitions and free.

For virus protection I use:

AVG Free along with weekly checks from TrendMicro Housecall...since I found the CA anti-virus program I'll be adding that as well (not sure if the CA ones delete the files or just tell you what and where they are =\) Back in the day I used to love CA's innoculateIT

For spyware I use:

Spybot: Search & Destroy (+ shield enabled)
Lavasoft's AdAware
Will begin performing weekly scans with CA's anti-spyware as all the programs I just listed found stuff that none of the others did (-_-)

Otherwise, I use Port Monster, and BlackICE (Time-based Trial)
