Bought two bottles of cheap scotch. I love scotch, sadly scotch doesn't tend to love me back. I usually try to stick to wine nowadays for that reason, but I really need to turn my brain off for a while, so my stomach is just going to need to stomach this. cheers fuckers

today i updated my motherboard BIOS and monitor firmware.

i feel so satisfied! i had skipped a few BIOS updates because i can't be arsed manually tuning my case fans and AIO fans/pump with each update. the AGESA version went from 1.2.0.0a to 1.2.0.2a !! exciting stuff.

have no issues with my monitor but it did have an update. i put it off for a while because you have to use a displayport cable (i use HDMI.... LONG STORY) and i am too lazy to swap the cable out but today i finally done it.

for those who care... my monitor was on version FW.011 and it is now on FW.012 :messenger_sunglasses: while there isn't much of note in the change log i am still happy it is now updated.

this might sound silly but i am being serious.... i love updating stuff. recently updated my wifi router which runs Merlin. stability is very good now. well... on the last version it was. it's still early to tell if this new version is stable. if there are any problems i'll roll it back. i did have some issues a few releases back so usually wait for certain releases. despite the bugs it is far better than the stock firmware!

i have nothing else to update at the moment :(

i still have a bunch of pokemon card codes to redeem in game. using the mobile app/browser is faster but i thought i'd see if ChatGPT could help.

took a photo of all the cards with the codes and asked it to list each code. it did well but it seems to only manage about 10 codes. i have way more than 10 codes.

i guess it's mobile/browser method.

od-chan od-chan shit that game looks like my vibe. survival horror/futuristic dystopian. i love cyberpunk/futuristic stuff (as you might guess) and just got into Resident Evil recently. i actually just finished my 2nd playthrough of RE2 remake this morning.

and it's steam deck verified

"RE2 remake"

excellent game try the ghost survivors mini games in it
i only bought the RE1, 2, 3 bundle a while ago. saw some of the movies but never actually played the games. finally got around to it and i fucking love RE2. it's one of my favourite games of all time already. first time i did the Claire route and just finished Leon. i did see those mini scenarios and do plan on playing them.

i did originally try the first game but i didn't know wtf i was doing but now i've played 2 i will go back to it. either that or RE3 remake next. not sure.

The game is heavily inspired by classic RE and the atmosphere is really dense and great. If you give it a try i'd love to hear what you think. I'd say manage your expectations, especially coming from something like RE2Make, since it's an indie and the gameplay especially is nothing to write home about, but overall it's pretty awesome imo.

RE3make is great too, but sadly Capcom cut a lot of corners here, so it's not nearly as great as RE2make or RE4make. I'm not sure how keen you're on playing vintage games, but the old Resident Evil games certainly have a considerable barrier that makes accessing them for modern audiences a tough sell (tank controls lmao). I love them though, especially 1,2,3 and CV.

Also, I'm soooo stoked to see what Capcom is gonna do next with Resident Evil, both in terms of a new installment as well as another remake. Man, if I didn't direly need both of my kidneys in order to deal with all the liquor, I'd probably give one of them to Capcom for a Code Veronica Remake (contigent on it being done good ofc)

of course. i don't think i'll buy it just now but it's definitely going on my wishlist.

i've been thinking about playing the original RE2 but not sure. i'll see how i go with 1 + 3 remakes first maybe.

the only other one i want to play is 8 ? (village) but it's first person and i think i read it's not as focused on puzzles. maybe i'm wrong. i'll play it one day.

Be advised about the first remake. It's great (9/10, honestly one of the best remakes ever), but it was released in like 2002 or something for the gamecube originally. So in comparison to RE2make++ it's obviously widely different.

7 and 8 are entirely different stories, both in terms of the actual story as well as the gameplay (as you pointed out). I think the Gold Edition of 8 actually added a third person mode, but yeah, it's designed to be played in first person - which I personally don't appreciate. Also, if you care about the story, I'd suggest playing 7 (or at least watching some kind of recap) because 8 is a direct continuation of 7, much more so than previous iterations build up on each other.

It'll be interesting to see what you think of RE3make, without having a reference for the original. I'd say it's a great game, albeit a bit short. I'm just really disappointed in how much they nerfed Nemesis.

yeah i noticed that it came out a while back. i'm not really interested in the graphics so much. i love the level design, puzzles, and limited inventory/weapons/ammo of 2 and i know 1 has that (obviously) so i think i'll enjoy it. i think it was just a bit too much for me for being my first game. RE2 seemed like an easier way to get into it because it was 3rd person and the camera allows more freedom. 1 felt more clunky and limited but now i know the gameplay loop i'll give it another try.

7 looks interesting too so if that ties into 8 then i'll give that a shot too.

maybe i'll do 3 > 1 > 7 > 8

i heard 4 is really good but not sure if i should play it. maybe after 8 :D
