what a fucking deal/steal!

£70 for this card PSA 9.

s-l1600.webp

a 10 is going for <£270 and the alignment is WAY off. shit, some people are trying to sell their raw (ungraded) cards for more than that! A lot of these cards seem to have the same alignment issues. The one I bought is very slightly off but it's by far the best available.

I reckon I could crack it and reslab it as a 10. I have no idea how that got a 9! I would reslab but PSA is a US company and way too expensive. I might send it to Ace but I don't like their custom label for it. I might get a standard one or colour matched.

So happy with that :D

I literally just saw this card pop up on a video I was watching. I have never seen it before and I knew I had to buy it right away.

If the video doesn't go right to it then it's 1:47 (not the Lugia...I already have that!)

fuck yeah

you reading a book??

i've not read much in a long time now. i really need to try sit down and read something :(

was looking into see when the new Cormoran Strike book is out. Doesn't seem to much updates but hopefully this year (still got book 7 to read!). Apparently there will be another 2 books after book 8. JK Rowling said her next book post-Strike is going to be "futuristic". I might actually cry (of happiness) if she does a sci fi/cyberpunk novel!

Still nothing on Book of Dust 3 :( surely it has to come out this year!!

the card I bought a while ago is now worth ~£2,980 :messenger_face_screaming::messenger_face_screaming::messenger_face_screaming: I paid £1,360 for it on Xmas eve.

I could sell it and make a £1,605 profit! (after shipping and before tax which I don't know what would be) but i'm not gonna sell it because i actually really like it. It'd hurt to give it away. The guy who sold me it must be gutted :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Oh I can't wait for her Science Fiction book. As for Cormoran Strike. I need to get on reading those. Are those upcoming two books the last in that series?

That's disappointing to hear. I've been anticipating that for awhile now

I'll try.

Well, "The Hallmarked Man" is book 8 and there will be a book 9 and 10.

Hallmarked Man has at least 119 chapters! Rowling tweeted she was writing chapter 119. I'll be reading that book for the rest of my life :( I'm so slow at doing anything.

It's been so long since The Secret Commonwealth :( I can't believe it will be 6 years this year. At least it's finished and in editing. Apparently he had to rewrite the last chapter in editing.

Are the Strike books a Mystery Thriller Series?

Also no worries on reading slowly

Yeah that's a long wait but I read La Belle Sauvage and The Secret Commonwealth in 2022 so for me it doesn't feel like a long wait

Hey at least he's making sure the third book is quality

i guess so. without spoiling it Strike is a private detective and his partner is Robin Ellacott. He has his own agency in London (Denmark Street. I went there outside his "agency" and listened to the audiobook of Ink Black Heart <3).

They get cases and try to solve them... obviously :D It's similar to the structure of Harry Potter. Each new book focuses on a new case they are trying to solve. Like in HP the first book they try to figure out what the Stone is, CoS is about the Chamber, PoA is about Sirius Black, Goblet of Fire the triwizard, etc, etc. But overall the story builds up to something. In HP it's Harry fighting Voldemort....who wins who dies who lives. In Strike it's something else. I don't know where the latest book is at because I haven't read it but yeah I can see why it'll be wrapped up in the next few books. If i'm being honest, as good as the books are, it does feel a bit slow. I mean the cases are interesting and that but the end goal seems to be dragging. Lots of exciting moments but I don't see how it will take 10 books to wrap it up.

The cases they take are interesting I think. The first book is a bit "plain" but still enjoyable. They get weirder and creepier. Ink Black Heart isn't a bad story but the book just drags on. There is too much going on, too many names to remember, and a lot of it is transcripts of online chats. I gave up and read the summary. The tv show based on this book just aired at christmas and I thought it was good.

I was looking at the Page Count for each book and the last two being 1400 and 900 Pages is Insane. I'll be reading those too and going to read the first book this year

the actress who plays Robin in the show i think is cute :messenger_smiling_hearts:

Tom Burke is Strike. He was in Mad Max Furiosa :D

Looks like she's his love interest too

Well it's Rowling her books tend to get increasingly longer with each new entry. I loved when each new Harry Potter book was longer than the previous one

And what you said about the Strike books makes me want to read them sooner rather than later

yeah they are huge books. Ink Black Heart was the first one I stopped.

And yeah i loved that each HP book got bigger...and then disappointed HBP and DH were shorter lol.

i don't want to spoil anything but she's married and not to Strike :)

let me know what you think when you've read it :D to be honest i don't think i would read them again. At least not like HP. I don't think I'll ever stop reading HP. At most I might read Strike books again before the last one or years after it finishes. Not to say they are bad books they are great but just not the same as HP.
