When does chapter 108 of the manga come out? Are they going to plan it so that it releases the same week/day as episode 63?

June 12. Brotherhood's final episode is two weeks later, I believe.

Shonen Gangan officially comes out on the 12th of every month.

Huh, I guess now Mustang really is:

I bet the Ishvalans felt the same when Mustang was burning them alive for merely existing! /Roy'sGuiltyConscious

Anyway, I feel that what happened to Mustang is kinda appropriate.
Pride is the deadliest sin so it makes sense that the character who suffers the most from it would enact the heaviest toll going through the gate. Of course, if Truth took sight from the prideful Mustang, then I can only imagine what he's done to the living embodiment of pride. Now the real question is how the hell Ed managed to get such a light punishment compared to everyone else. You'd think there would be some sort of equivalency to only losing a leg when your brother has lost his entire body, your commander lost his sight and your teacher is sterile.

oh and btw, Mustang's predicament could easily be blamed on Al so if I was the metal man I would stay out of Mustang's sight,
which should be incredibly easy now, ha!

Not only that, but it only took an arm to get Al's soul back.

I hope they at least have a two parter for the last episode.

grandjedi... I wouldn't call Mustang prideful at all. Ambitious>? yes. Naive? Definitely. Prideful? not really.

He's basically an older, battle-hardened version of Ed.

Ed must have the most valuable limbs on earth. He should try selling one on Ebay.

And yeah, I'm not sure what they are going to do. Originally I thought BONES would be fine since they were working at a 1.5 chapter pace that would end exactly at chapter 108. But then people began talking about the latest chapters having alot more pages than normal so BONES might not be able to fit it. Then again, I did hear a rumor that episode 63 was removed from the last DVD or something, so perhaps Bones is up to something.

Mustang thinks he's good enough to rule the nation. That's pretty much a key characteristic of a prideful character. Its never presented in a malicious way (except as a cover) and he's certainly no Ling, but he's still pretty prideful. So is Ed for that matter (but to a lesser extent).

Fair enough, I guess, but if I were to describe Mustang, proud/prideful would be pretty far back on the adjectives I use, personally. He's not prideful at all, really. It's his completely naive ideals that drive him, not any sense of superiority or entitlement/qualification. They cut the scenes out in Brotherhood, but while everyone else in the army was as cheerful as they could be when the Ishval war ended, filled with the glory of victory, Mustang was not. Despite the praise of his unit and their thanks for his protection during the war, all Mustang could focus on was his own weakness, and beat himself over not being able to save everyone.

He's rather hard on himself, and I wouldn't hesitate to say that Havoc, Breda, Furey, Hawkeye, Falman, Ed, Al, Hughes, and Armstrong have a much, much higher opinion of Mustang than he does of himself. He just wants to fix the wrongs and shortcomings of the past. Nothing more, nothing less.

And Ling certainly does have a great level of pride, but he's pure noblesse oblige. :p

Well, honestly
Ed's real punishment was supposed to be losing the last person closest to him and the sole remaining member of his family (Hohenheim was traveling "somewhere" to brothers' knowledge). Leg was really only a side-effect.
I have yet to watch 59, but either in this or in next episode Father should've listed all sacrifices' punishments and their meaning.

Well, eating everyone's food at every single occasion doesn't really fit "noblesse oblige", does it:D ?

Just finished 59. That was another great episode. I just want to make a note to anyone watching Brotherhood, but hasn't read the manga. Don't watch the preview for episode 60 at the end of 59. If you haven't read the manga, the preview is a huge spoiler.

No. The manga ends next week. Final chapter. The anime as of ep59 covers up until the end of chapter 102. That was six months ago in manga time.

Oh, thanks.

So is 'Truth' that god-thing at the gate? Did not know that it had a name (Or maybe I just forgot).

Also, would anyone else find it hilarious if Ed is transported to Nazi germany at the end of this one too?

Urgh. Please don't remind me. I'd be pretty pissed off if that was to happen.

FMA Brotherhood ep. 16 (dub)

- Still have a hard time adjusting to Barry's voice. Guess I'm missing the manic charm of the Japanese version.

- Vic still can't cry convincingly.

- Ahh, and now the plot begins. :D

FMA Brotherhood ep. 59 (raw)

Probably the one of the roughest thing animated for me, since Roy's my favorite character, but at the same time, I know that it's not as bad as it seems.

- Total Roy/Riza overload... :p

- Roy's expressions while fighting off the Fuhrer candidates reminded me of Ed.

- Wrath v. Scar. Easily one of the best fights in the manga.

- Return of the Chimera and May. I'm rather fond of them.

- May's such a fangirl. :p

- Wrath and Pride teaming up to subdue Roy and force him to perform human transmutation...owww

- Clever using Gold-Tooth as the 'sacrifice'. Nice to see him turned into a beach ball...derp.

- Roy's gate, now where have we seen that similar design before... ;)

- Now Father has all of his sacrifices...

All in all the episode was really well-done. Can't believe there's only three more episodes, but since the episodes are mostly fighting, we should get through it pretty quickly.

I just realized today that Bones cut the scene where
Brosh went to the radio station and found out that Ross was still alive. :(

Aren't there four more? 60, 61, 62, 63?

Yeah, they've changed this scene completely. Instead of
Brosh re-uniting with Ross
we had
a little talk between Ross and Fuery about the coup
That's a shame because it was a great scene :/ But it seems that they have some time constraints, they have to fit the remaining (unusually long) 5 chapters into 4 episodes. I know they're mostly fighting but I wonder how it will turn out.

I'm assuming all the
reunions
will be saved for the last episode... which hopefully will be a great denouement to the series.

Good. The last thing this adaption needs is to be bogged down by anymore useless stuff, especially with so little time remaining. In fact, they should have cut out his other scene too (I assume it stayed though because of the solar eclipse comment within it).

Wait.. did they redraw the Japanese characters for the AS airings?

Because the bluray is still in Japanese with an english translation over it.

Well if by "redraw" you mean "quickly photoshop on a character art with 'useless' written on it" then yes, yes they did. Anything requiring subtitles like that tends to get edited somehow when aired on TV. I'm kinda disappointed they didn't keep it since it was rather cute.

I've watched all 59 so far on the English Sub and love this show.

Question though - Since I started with Brotherhood, does everyone still recommend I watch the original Anime next?

I personally have found the first anime unwatchable ever since I started reading the manga. You can try watching the first anime, but I don't think it'll sit well with you.

I would recommend reading the manga to see what Brotherhood skipped, though, particularly with regards to the ishval conflict. You should be able to read the entire manga in a weekend.

They fixed the ending, it's credited as Let it Out, but the opening still says Again - Yui.

English dub is getting better and better. It's really starting to take off now. Great VAs all around.

Really liked the dub episode that just aired. Great performances all around, and we're finally into the Brotherhood-exclusive stuff. Should be a treat for the dub-only viewers.

Which manga chapters have the stuff on the Ishval conflict that Brotherhood left out? I'm pretty content with what they explained about the conflict and everything makes sense but I'd like to see what else happened.

I just finished the 2001 version of the series, and while im kinda sad they went back to restart, I'll give this a go.

But I did like the english dub. It will be a while before that happens, eh?

58, 59, 60, 61, primarily. Also the scene with Dr. Knox and his family in 63, the dialogue of which was slightly modified for some reason in the anime.

They left out a lot of stuff from Ishval in the anime, and the parts they didn't omit, they either heavily modified, or they split up and showed in bits and pieces instead of as one standalone war story.

Dub for brotherhood is already underway. ep 15 (I think. Might havee been 16) aired about an hour or so ago.

Sengoku Basara Season 2 (the series airing on FMA:B's time slot after it ends) has an official start date: 11th July. Either this means there is a one week break between FMA:B and SB2, or it means FMA:B is now 64 episodes long.

Ignore GaimeGuy's weirdness. The original anime is great (except for the movie).

The movie has some really outstanding animation though. The Gluttony fight scene underground was totally worth the price of admission on its own!

hmmm... I wasn't really feeling this episode. prolly because it was just one long foreshadowing. Mustang really wouldn't kill Ross like that. but it does make me wonder what's gonna happen next.

Maybe they added a 64th episode. I don't know if it's true or not, but I read yesterday that what should have been the last DVD/Blu-Ray release dropped episode 63 and only goes up to episode 62. Some people at other forums were speculating that the series finale might be a hour long, but maybe they've added a 64th episode instead.

There are various pieces of "evidence" which indicate that there might be 64 episodes. None of them are substantial on their own, but taken together there could have been a last minute injection of an extra airing slot in view of how long the final chapter is.

a) As you mentioned, the official site dropped episode 63 from the final DVD/BD listing. This could just be a typo, as each volume generally has 4 episodes in it, and it could just be a lazy copy/paste job.

b) TV station listings for upcoming broadcast slots generally indicate if an episode is the last episode of the airing run. On all the networks carrying FMA:B, none of them have "end" indicated on episode 63. Since the current schedules run till the end of the month, even if a 64th episode existed, it would not appear on the schedules yet. Could be a typo though.

c) Sengoku Basara Season 2 starts on 11th July instead of 4th July. As I mentioned, this could either mean a one week break between the two series, or a 64th episode. It could also mean that they plan on airing some sort of recap/special for Basara before starting the new season. Again, on its own it means nothing.

d) Following the various staff members for FMA:B on their blogs and twitters seem to indicate an inconsistent trend. All of them seem to at some point or other mentioned episode 63, but at some other points mention specially "the final episode" in terms of what they're working on. Nothing very incriminating on its own though, but....

When you look at all the evidence together, there seems to be *some* weight at least to the rumor that the series has been extended to 64 episodes. Not much to lose sleep over though, since by tomorrow we should know for sure when the listings from Newtype leak.

StoOgE

First tragedy, then farce.
Anyone know when Funi is going to put out the second series on Bluray?

I'm guessing we have to wait until after AS has gotten to episode 26.
