I think the monitor is defective in someway. In all theimpressions of Gsync monitors I have read I never heard of that being a systemic side effect of using Gsync.
Fairly certain most Gsync monitors have build quality issues so I can't imagine you'd have trouble getting it replaced, RMA'ed or refunded.
I think it's more like most consumer monitors in general have QC issues, and with expensive high-end monitors more people actually care. (Not excusing the spotty QC at all of course, just offering an explanation)
Yeah... This fact is killing me. I don't think it has anything to do with G-Sync itself though. I was checking out the Acer XB270HU with the recommendations here, but my god the complaints. I decided to check out the ASUS PG278Q ROG Swift instead. Which apparently has even more complaints. The amount of RMAs on these is staggering. They may be amazing monitors, but you might as well be rolling dice. I can accept that for a cheap ass monitor, but not $800 bucks. Hopefully someone else jumps in scene soon that actually has quality standards.
Gaming on LCD without strobing or insanely high refresh, gsync or otherwise is garbage. If you're playing on a tv the benefits are probably lost on you anyways. Sorry, but gaming on a tv is total garbage after playing on any high quality, 1ms monitor.
Been waiting for news about this monitor for ever... I'll pre order as soon as possiblePG279Q might be available starting next week if this is anything to go by:

Edit: I'm an idiot, thought you were talking about the XB270HU.Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Acer XB270HA? I know Acer quality control leaves something to be desired, but what about IQ?
Finally.
Little bothered by the limited quantities thing. No doubt OCUK will once again be the go-to guys and I'll have to swallow their markup bollocks.
Why would you want to get a freesync monitor and nvidia video card. They don't work together. Either go Gsync or save money with a regular 4K samsung monitor. How is the Samsung 4k freesync monitor?
I wanted to build a pc using nvidia cards but I have brand loyalty to Samsung monitors.

I know that. I said I wanted to build a pc with nvidia but I have brand loyalty to Samsung because I consider them to make high quality monitors so I am considering building a pc with AMD.
Any chance Samsung will come out with a Gsync monitor?
Just ordered the Acer predator from Amazon. Anyone know what's with their 1-4 week shipping estimate!?
Did you ordered this one XB280HK - 4K, TN With G-SYNC?
Maybe, watch a video of what GSync does.Well, I'm onboard the NVIDIA train now. GTX970 SSC ACX2.0+ acronym hell. But it's fast.
But the idea of spending $600 on the BenQ XL2420G makes me sadface. I wish there was easy demo units with GSYNC because it would be so much easier to just throw that money at a 30" + curved panel instead...
You're probably right about high-end monitor owners caring more about visual fidelity. I see my friends, who aren't really big on the "technical" side of gaming, play videogames with tearing, sub 30 fps, and framerates all over the place.
And they don't notice a thing. Ah, such bliss though...
Picked up the AOC G2460PG today and either my monitor has problems or it doesn't work as I thought it would and thus I'm disappointed.
Keeping it simple: colours are fucked up with G-Sync enabled, particularly blacks, resulting in a shitty crosshair look. Here's an off screen shot of a vista in Wild Hunt taken at the same time of day, one with G-Sync the other without. The difference speaks for itself.

I tried Half-Life 2 and noticed this as well. What gives?
I've set the monitor at 120hz @ 1080p.
Damn that looks really bad, I don't have any problems like this on my XB270HU. I know you said you didn't want to but perhaps at least wait it out a bit until you can afford that or the Asus one that's about to come out. Like a few others here I'm rocking that and a GTX 970 and it works very well. The jump up from 1080p to 1440p doesn't hurt the frame rate too much with a 970. With GTA V and witcher 3 I got everything on high settings 60+fps solid... Older games I'm getting 100fps. GRID autosport and assetto corsa looks glorious.
I'm thinking that once the monitor is sorted out (repair or not) I'll forgo Gsync for awhile. I do love it, but it seems I'm going to need to pay higher end (eg: XB270HU) to get the good stuff and I can't really justify that right now for a monitor alone. So I'm thinking I'm going to grab a 60hz 1440p monitor and start putting some dollars aside for a 980 or something to keep the framerate up.
That's a different monitor. The Acer Predator XB270HU is a GSync IPS 1440p 144hz monitor.
Maybe, watch a video of what GSync does.
Yeah, but the vids I've seen so far show a pretty subtle difference (probably not helped that I'm watching it on a monitor that is decidedly not GSync/144hz). Real demos would help a ton to sell this stuff, because otherwise it's contending against IQ.
Hopefully the GSYNC premium comes down a bit this year so we can see it included in a better range of panels. (I'm not in the market for Freesync but the cost difference is big there, too!)
upgraded to a titan x but guess what yall
1080p for life
does anyone here know if you can get consoles working with a gsync monitor (obviously no gsync or 144 hz) using some kind of hdmi to display port cable? tried it once and the shit didn't work, but it was a while back
i play on a 24 inch gsync asus.
No, the difference is monstrous. Try standing on top of a tower playing Shadow of Mordor and spin around without G-SYNC on. The amount of tearing you'll see is ridiculous. G-SYNC virtually eliminates that experience and gameplay is much smoother. I don't know if it's placebo or what, but I also suffer from much less motion sickness on FPS games. I will never go back to non-G-SYNC gaming. For reference sake, I have a XB270HU and GTX970 SLI.

I agree, demo stations should be a thing. It sucks a little bit that there is quite a bunch of entertainment tech right that you can only 'experience' in person (VR, variable refresh, ...).I don't really have motion sickness issues and played through Mordor on PS4 no problem. So like I said, the difference might not be so obvious for me. Certainly, I'd rather own a 55" LED television than a 27" Gsync panel (which are roughly the same price, at least in Canada)
Which sadly, cannot be done without owning a Gsync display, hence why it cries out for demo units. I'm not saying Gsync is somehow bad or not worth paying for, but sight unseen for a what seems to be a premium of $300 or more? It's overwhelming.

for me : Gsync > extra screen size.
