I fucking loved that match. Perfectly paced, the multiple teases of the Blackout were executed so well, as was Lance's comeback.

It's amazing that Honma wasn't even meant to be in this damn thing. No disrespect to Ibushi, but I couldn't have seen myself enjoying his matches as much as I've enjoyed Honma's.
What a goddamn amazing tournament.
Honma should have been there in the first place but in hindsight I don't know who to replace him with if Ibushi was healthy. I would have said Tenzan but he's been great and miraculously injury free.
Forever! It was beautiful. Fuck Shibata!Honma vs Shibata holy shit.
I mean holy shit.
So stiff. Honma, you son of a bitch. I will forever root for you.
Tomohiro Ishii is believed to have suffered a separated shoulder in his match with Davey Boy Smith Jr. in Osaka. The injury was when they were doing a Frankenseiner reveral spot and Ishii landed on his shoulder. He finished the match and still used a brainbuster for the finish. Wrestlers could not believe he still did the brainbuster.
Miraculously, at this point, no wrestler has even missed one date. Ishii has tomorrow's show in Nagoya off and is scheduled to face Katsuyori Shibata on Wednesday in Takamatsu.
Update on Ishii;
Ishii is a goddamn machine, hope he can still go against Shibata but a separated shoulder may be too serious of an injury.
Anywho, Meltzer going in hard with his praise for the G1;
"The last two nights were not just two of the best shows of the year, but they're probably two of the five best shows I've ever seen. This is the greatest tournament in pro wrestling history and it's not even a close call. Last years' was the best I'd ever seen and this year blows away last year."
guys, its day 4 time
also, does anyone know the current scorecard?
Has there been anything said officially about what the plan is with iPPV going forward once it stops being offered through Ustream?
I would assume NJPW either finds a replacement (there are some around), or just does it themselves.
Also, I have not watched much of this G1, because my Birthday Supernova takes priority. I need match recs.
Also, here's the best matches so far;
Day 1 - Tanahashi vs Honma, Nakamura vs Shibata, Okada vs Styles
Day 2 - Kojima vs Ishii, Yano vs Styles, Okada vs Tenzan
Day 3 - Goto vs Suzuki, Tanahashi vs Kojima, Okada vs Makabe
Day 4 - Honma vs Ishii, Nagata vs Nakamura, Naito vs Styles, Okada vs Anderson, Tanahashi vs Shibata
Day 5 - Goto vs Styles, Nakamura vs Honma, Okada vs Naito
Day 6 - Kojima vs Shibata, Goto vs Anderson, Tenzan vs Styles, Tanahashi vs Ishii
Day 7 - Tenzan vs Goto, Makabe vs Naito, Styles vs Suzuki, Nagata vs Shibata, Nakamura vs Ishii
Day 8 - Goto vs Naito, Styles vs Archer, Makabe vs Suzuki, Shibata vs Honma, Tanahashi vs Nakamura
I think AJ Styles is the leader in the clubhouse for wrestler of the year. Just an incredible run in the G1, a run I didn't think he had in him.

Honma vs Davey was pretty good, although I think they could have milked Honma's comeback for a bit longer. That Archer vs Yujiro match on the other hand, ehhhh - I liked that Lance was still selling the leg from his match with AJ and it made sense that Yujiro worked it over, but that ending was dogshit.
