I wouldn't mind doing that, if you guys (and the mods) want me to. If so I will wait for a mod to contact me about it. That said I am reading all of your comments on this system, and as long as the comments are respectful I appreciate them. I will say that I think the voting is going well so far and I think the results will still be interesting to you folks :) And glancing at the recent few pages there are yet more titles nominated. Can't wait to count more of them :p

I also don't mind people listing their lists in this thread, if they wish to. Some people did as such and just gave 0 points to some titles. You can do that or also do your scoring list and then your top 10 separately. Rank them, or don't. Your choice.

Punch out Wii : -1 ( loved it, title defense is hardcore)
Killzone 2: -1 ( beautiful)

I really don't like that you've just enforced this system on us timetokill, for your own reasons and stubbornly. I was really looking forward to this thread and you've seriously taken the fun out of it. I hope next year this stupid 'experiment' is mocked and never used again, reverting to the old system that was more enjoyable.

I'll be back to vote later if this is still going (I guess it will be), but I wish Rez had been more assertive and just started his own thread when he had his chance if you were just going to do things your way no matter the outcry. This isn't a GAF GOTY 2009 thread its a Timetokill's Experimental Fucking With GAF GOTY 2009 Thread.

But I have bought 3 new games, and played two of them (have not had time for ac2 yet), so here goes:

I think I am going to try and play the Void before the deadline. That seems like my type of game and since I have only played 2 new games this year (and one of them being a silly flash game), I should probably do something about that.

Would have been cool if GAF was asked which system they'd prefer. Either this one, the old one, or something else that might work better.

Instead we've been given a new and odd system from seemingly out of nowhere.

this points system is ok. but it would be nice for people that actually care about the points to be able to list more stuff. how about this for a suggestion. go from 10 to 20 point total. and up the number one single game top score pointer thing to 4. so one game 4 points. and the rest whatever up to 20 points. seems good, I'm smart.

Interesting system, timetokill. Good luck with everything. I still have a few more games I want to play that will probably go into my list somewhere. Ratchet & Clank, A Boy and his Blob, and LostWinds 2 all have a shot.

Rez had a whole year to see somebody about doing this thread. I think it's good to experiment, but I wasn't about to do it just because I was happy with my way of doing things and I could get into a good rhythm with it.

To everyone complaining: the current system might not be perfect, but at least it's much, much, much more balanced than the previous one with people giving 5 points each to two of their precious system exclusives and giving anything less than 3 points to a game was a wasted vote.
At least now lists can be a bit more diverse, and even if some people don't use all of their points most seem to do.

I like the point system, hopefully it isn't too much trouble for you to add em all up especially since most of us are using different formats. Anyways, I had to leave off a few great games (Beatles, Borderlands, Dragon Age) but these were definitely my favorite games of the year. I could give you a 20 page essay on how much I love Demon's Souls and why it's my GOTY, but simply put: it's one of the best gameplay experiences I've ever had and I'm super fuckin addicted to it.

Agreed, it's not perfect but I think it's perfectly acceptable in it's current form, lets just see how it pans out this year.

I don't envy anyone that has to compile this data, sorry about being on a downer in the original thread timetokill, I think the 3 point system was a good compromise, good luck.

This point system doesn't really bother me. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. My only complaint is that I wish the deadline could be extended to the end of February so I can have time to play some of the recent releases. It's especially important in this hobby considering that most of the big titles are released in October and November (next year being a major exception to this rule) giving us only like 8 weeks to play them all. For example, this year was actually a major drought for me up until October. Now, I'm playing Dragon Age but I actually have purchased AC2 and Uncharted 2. It doesn't seem right to rush through those games just so I can vote for them. Something to think about for the future...

Dragon Age: Origins: 3 pts.
Flower: 2 pts.
Rune Factory Frontier: 1 pt.
The Sims 3: 1 pt.

Disappointments of the Year:
Street Fighter 4: This is my fault. I'm just not as in to playing fighters as I was when I was 12 years-old playing SFII. No nostalgia for me, alas.
Resident Evil 5: No, just no. Everything about this game is average which is a stark contrast to its amazing predecessor.
Killzone 2: Generic shooter is generic.
Ghostbusters: The gameplay, oh dear lord the gameplay! Make it stop!
