The lack of Burnout Paradise in my own list back on page 2 is killing me. It was as high as number four in my first list, before I edited it out (all before posting).

I just don't see how I can justify it at the moment. I could, maybe, drop Soul Calibur 4... hmmm.

I only played the Nero half of DMC4, and I loved it, but I also can't add that to my list until I play through the full game. Gah.

I don't know yet, I'll stick with my current list. For now...

Some very good games these year, but these were my favorites from what I played (yes I played MGS, GTA, LBP, and Braid but I do still want to play Fable, Banjo, and Far Cry, among others).

Any game that can both completely surprise me as get my GF to start gaming is a monster in my book. This game has everything and with the upcoming MGS DLC it'll be even more ahead of the rest

2. Valkyria Chronicles
Almost decided to import it from Japan but it was worth the wait. Musically, graphically and gameplay wise this game just blew me away from the very start and kept me engrossed the whole time (still have to finish it though)

3. Pixeljunk Eden
Trippy HD visuals are exactly what I crave this generation. Couple that with a absolutely stunning minimal techno soundtrack and fantastic gameplay and you have a title that just keeps on playing inside my head even after turning off the ps3.

4. Motorstorm 2
Absolutely didn't expect this title to score this high on my list. I never played the original motorstorm so I might be a bit more blown away by it then others but I'm mainly putting this at forth because it's the most complete and expansive game out now. There's literally not one option missing from the game.

5. Korg DS-10
Dream come true. DS is finally getting a proper music app (hated Electroplankton) and it's very robust. A must own for IDM lovers like me.

6. Metal Gear Solid 4
Newcomer to the series and I'm very much impressed. Story was a bit hard to follow however :lol

7. Burnout Paradise
Probably wouldn't have scored this high without the Bikes update. Also important to notice is that Paradise City is the most cleverly designed racing ground I've ever seen. Was also my original reason to buy a PS3 and start console gaming again (last console was a Dreamcast) back in March.

8. Fallout 3
Though it's definitely Oblivion 1.5 in some ways it's also a genius remake of a GOTY rpg in a completely awesome new setting. Never played the original Fallouts and now I'm wondering why the hell not. Just to bad it's graphically not as good on the PS3.

9. Everybody's Golf 5: World Tour/Hot Shot's Golf: Out of Bounds
Probably my most mayor time sink. So calming and addictive. Great courses as well and I'm very thankful for the recent voice support patch.

Love-Hate relationship. The peaks where amazingly high and had it not contained all the flaws this would have been my nr1 game

Oh man, the lack of Crysis in these lists (especially the shooter/FPS heavy ones) makes me fucking sad. If only more GAFers would've played the game.

Oh well, even GAF isn't perfect.

Crysis Warhead is kinda weak. Relatively linear (empty but beautiful jungles outside of your main objectives with no side content makes it feel more shallow than truly linear games) and a short adventure. No narrative to hold it together. Crysis might offer the best assets and the engine stretches further (at least in visuals if not dynamics) but FarCry 2 is a far more open ended and quite a better game overall imo. The latter might have some more obvious flaws but it also has greater strengths and offers probably (litterary) ten times the content. Crysis didn't evolve much beyond FarCry 1 but I feel FarCry 2 ran with it.

Far Cry 2 has pretty much been the most disappointing game I've played all year. Not so much the worst, that title goes to Shawn White Snowboarding and Mercenaries 2, but I barely had any expectations of those games.
Ubisoft extremely poor community support also doesn't help Far Cry 2's case.
