What the fuck did I just watch?

Surely the OP means death of swag right? I give the trend about one more year at best.

Anyway I won't particpate that much because Frank and The Weeknd made me rediscover my love for Soul and RnB again. Even listened to my Brian McKnight Cd again.

*anytime*

Whether people like it or not, people like Lil' B, Kreayshawn(sp?), V-Nasty, and the Odd Future camp are on the rise in the hip-hop world. (Except for Odd Future, I don't really care for any of them.) They are introducing people to hip-hop for the first time. This might make them listen to better hip-hop artists and hopefully buy their music. More support for artists means for music for us.

Edit: Actually, probably just Lil' B.

I don't understand the whole lil' B movement. Is it because he's so bad that people follow him or do people generally like him?

fuck it. i'm done lurking.

if you don't dig j. cole you don't dig hip hop. that dude's flow is god tier. no joke.

frank ocean is no fluke. songs for women. that shit was r&b i could dig. and i don't dig r&b.

foreign exchange is two more classics away from being my favorite group (duo) of all time.

j. dilla changed my life. seriously.

the world is a decent pair of headphones away from understanding music.

curren$y is the most original and consistent rapper currently working. there's a reason all the dope producers want to work with him. if you don't get it i feel sorry for you.

'the light' very well could be my favorite song of all time. damn.

This isn't aimed at you InnerFu so chill..... But...
I hate this shit. So many people around me are on the "Dilla changed my life. For real!" shit so hard they're wearing the t-shirt, but none of these guys listened to him whilst he was alive.
That's what burns me up a little.
I'm all for artists gaining recognition in death to a certain extent, it happens in film all the time, but this Dilla shit seems like a meme gone wrong.
When he was dropping these 'life changing' classics all the people riding his dick so hard now were probably on a Murder Inc. hype at the time and now thanks to what seems like a (good intentioned) trend he's now seen as the lord saviour of hip-hop beats.
I feel like if you were down day 1 then cool, but saying Dilla changed your life cause some other guy said he changed their life cause some other guy said he changed his life cause some other guy said he changed his life is kinda sad.

I dunno. Maybe I'm just a hater. But every time I read that I cringe :/

Lol at everyone saying J Dilla is awesome only after he died, and then jumped on Donuts in 2009.

Slum Village rocks me.

trust me i feel you. the random "che guevarra-esque" shirts people rock with jay dee's name on em make me sick to a certain extent.

slum village turned me the fuck out. i can't stress that enough.

that line was mostly sarcastic but only on the surface.

j dilla threw a fuckin monkey wrench into what i considered hip hop production was about. i literally rediscovered a genre that i already had loved. his shit was the spark that got me "into 'into'" hip hop.

if i had a nice pair of cans when i was 12 i would be waaaaay ahead of the game. now i feel like i'm constantly catching up.

I loved J.Dilla beats without even realizing it. Running away was always my favorite Pharcyde track but I never bothered to check who produced it.

May I ask how some producer can change someones life?

I honestly do not understand that. And Champion Sounds suck, as good as a producer he was as awful he was as rapper. And Slum Village is madly overrated too, talk about a group that raps about nothing. Great production but god awful lyrics.

That's cool man. Sorry if I made you feel like you had to justify yourself, I didn't mean that. In-line with the other things in your post I already kinda knew you weren't one of 'those' people I was referring to :)

Ready for an eye rolling moment?

I've never and I don't wish to listen to a Biggie album in its entirety.

I've always seen Pac as the more interesting personality and person.

Also enzo, in hindsight was MBDTF that great? It wasn't even my pick for album of '10 in the first place. I liked it but in comparison to other shit I've listened to, I must have played old Kanye tracks more that year...

Edit: Let me clarify, MBDTF was a favorite of that year but it wasn't the most powerful. And all in all, I could connect/vibe more with Mama's Boyfriend over the other tracks of MBDTF.

R.I.P old thread. never did break top 10 over there! i shouldve tried harder, but i scarcely had a link to offer. im gonna go back and grab one of res/shinobis mixtape roundups and post them here as my own.

:/ Understandable not listening to it in the past and I probably shouldn't be one to talk but I really would like to get around to the artists/albums I haven't listened to yet.

Albums of 2011:
1. Life is Good
2. Detox
3. The Middle Passage.

Nasty without Flex's tags.
Hahaha. Would be interested in Immortal but his performance at Paid Dues really put me off. What an angry person and his fans are just as angry as he is.

Roscoe Dash should do a "Dash & Friends" type album cause by himself he's fucking useless but he works well as a complimentary piece.

*post inspired by a little Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay*

why you gotta bring shenmue 3 into this, spin
