that cover....reminds me of a former Toku avatar.
Is it an album or a mixtape?Need the fucking tape asap!
Okay. Just wondering what GAF-Hop thought.
Don't play like one genre cannot have different genres (or categories) within it. Wacka Flocka Flame is rap/hip hop, and so are The Roots, but I wouldn't classify them in the same way.
an album in the sense that section.80 and setbacks and follow me home were.
Pusha T's verse on So Appalled was the 2nd best verse on MBDTF.
Well, Section.80 was retail. So it pretty much was an album.

All three of them were retail albums, Setback was just made free later for all the late/sleepy cheapskates.
like physical cd copies? I've got them on amazon only so I wouldn't know.

so close
so what like, the whole disc as an online purchase but from specific sites?Being retail doesnt have to mean physical copies.

if you put oneirology as 1 then undun better be 0. not saying oneirology was bad but undun just felt more refined to me.Undun is good. I have no clue where it will be on my top 10 list. CunninLynguists - Oneirology is still AOTY for me.
ahh thank you.More like, a digital release. That's what they mean. You had to buy it on itunes/amazon intially.
The more I listen to undun, the more I want to put it on my top 10. Not quite there yet, but it's so cohesive, I love it. Flows from start to finish, very few of those albums this year IMO. I love concept albums, and undun is giving me that fix.

I know where your coming from. They kinda described it as the story of a man and all the shit that goes down in one day for him in a non-linear fashion, but it doesn't really work out like that at all, but I feel to a certain extent all the songs feel like they fit together on this one CD. The sound of the thing is pretty consistent throughout, but it *just* doesn't feel like your listening to the same song over and over again. At least, that's what I think your coming from with the cohesiveness. That's where the album loses it for me...I don't know if it's really that cohesive tbh. I like it and it's going to be in my top ten, but it's definitely not #1. This is just a really tough list to put together this year.

I pruned a lot since last night.
Undun is pretty damn good. You can really tell it's an album they took their time crafting. I can't say I like some of the singing on the album which sounds generic to me, and a couple of the guest verses are annoying but overall it's solid. I also wish The Roots had another member who matched Questlove's talent and ambition. Yea they have a pretty good guitarist and keyboard guys, but I still would like to see something more daring from them. I miss Hub
In terms of specific examples, Dice Raw's verse on One Time struck me as lacking, and really don't like the PORN verse on Stomp. Black Thought's verse is perfect, the production is amazing, everything is going well...then he staggers in with a rambling verse. Bah.
Make My, Lighthouse, Sleep, and I Remember are the stand out tracks to me. Overall it's a damn good album.
Gotta give Undun more listens and not listen to it when I'm studying. It isn't moving me like Oneirology, Watch The Throne, or Cole World. Even Dessa - Castor, The Twin connected with me instantly.

Maybe I indeed haven't listened to it enough. Currently finals are fucking me up and I've been listening mostly to something else I'll make an elaborating post on afterwards.
Good luck to all the GAF-Hoppers with exams and finals and all that jazz.

You got it wrong Enzo. Undun is the story of a man dying and looking back on the actions that lead him to his undoing.

Finally got around to Camp and Undun. Camp is as dull as I expected. About 4 or 5 good songs, but just a whole lot of nothing content wise. He'll probably get 2 or 3 tracks on the big "listenable" playlist.
Undun is...its a roots album. The roots are the handjobs of the rap world. Nothing to complain about, it's an enjoyable experience, but it's never the most exciting part of the evening.
I have had some amazing hand-jobs in my life. In highschool, on bus rides. They definitely were the most exciting part of my day.
I don't think I have ever let a hand job be the most exciting part of my day. If she was willing to jerk me off, she was going to get it inside of her too.

I keep alotta heat.. like Pat Riley.
i..um.....wow...um...........In high-school on the bus, i didnt really have that option, lol.
go listen to the eligh album; theres a grieves feature on itAlso catching up on
No Kings : A little disappointing actually. Some really really great tracks but also some repetitive production. Needs more listens though.
A Sucker For Pumps : I knew I'd love this being a Tiron fan for a while now, I was saving this for the end of the year and I'm not disappointed. Possible top 10 album for me.
Daily Bread : Just as solid as I expected. Probably not a top 10 for me, but top 20 definitely. Tell Me is sick as fuck. Reminds me that we should have a top 20 favorite songs of the year list as well.

My favorite cut from the album. Shit is just beautiful.
Goblin was better on re-listening recently, good angry shit for gym/running and shit.
quietly grateful Com's shit hasn't leaked just yet; hearing Undun & Spiritual State, plus that, all inside of one week woudlve been like when i got an SNES with Mario World, Link to the Past & SFII: World Warrior - i'm never gonna have a lineup so good at one time like that again. that week, i flew too close to the sun~
