This is probably a better question during the day time but whatever.

I'm curious out of the last 3 years, what rappers debut album through a major label company did yall enjoy the most?

Wale - Attention Deficit
BoB - The Adventures of Bobby Ray
Yelawolf - Radioactive
J. Cole - Cole World
Drake - Thank Me Later
Jay Electronica - The Nacirema Dream
Asher Roth - Asleep in the Bread Aisle
Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon
Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday
Glasses Malone - Beach Cruiser

off that list, Cudi by about five thousand miles. none of those other albums come remotely close for me. but i haven't listened to Pink Friday, Beach Cruiser, or Thank Me Later. and i never will.

Jay Elect released The Nacirema Dream? I thought that Papoose was going to name his eventual debut album with that title?

Off that list, I've enjoyed Man on the Moon, The Adventures of Bobby Ray, and Cole World.

I have not listened to Attention Deficit, Radioactive, and Asleep in the Bread Aisle in full yet.

Yep. MotM is a goddamned classic. I still listen to at least 4-5 of the songs from it on a near daily basis

MotM >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cole World >> Thank Me Later >> The Adventures of Bobby Ray >>>>>>>>>>>>> Radioactive.

Haven't hears the rest but I'm fairly certain this is the only correct answer for those above. CuDi is on another level.

Also, what did GAF think of the Beach Cruiser? Probably the industry L of the year releasing it the same day as Carter IV.

doggystyle is better than both chronics anyways. 2001 and dogg food both suffer from a weak as fuck second half.

asap rocky has grown on me like crazy during my all day flying. "bass" is ridiculous, that's my shit, the beat is nuts. dreamer/believer also really grew on me but I'm not entirely sold yet.

Doggystyle is my favorite album of all time, I DJ on and off and when I throw on a track like Aint no Fun the crows always goes fucking nuts

Doggystyle>Chronic>2001 (and I really like 2001)

Never listened to Dogg Food in full, I need to get on it

And yeah Doggystyle is definitely Top 10, you really can't make anything better than that

I'm listening to Take Care, and I gotta say that Wayne's verse on HYFR is better than anything on Sorry 4 the Wait and Tha Carter IV.

I know its alot of Lupe haters....but....I just finally got around to listening to "Friend of the people" Fully...and while I dont like most of the tracks because of music selection....

"WWDJ he'd lol like wtf" is probably one of the best songs of the year.....so good.
It's solid. Definitely much better than Lasers. His lyrics are on point for sure, but I want better production on the next album.

Jay Elec?

signed to a major level and more buzz overall despite not having released a full coherent album or piece of work. Blu has made a possible top 10 hip hop album of all time and does nothing with it. Imagine if Nas made illmatic and then started being lazy and releasing half-assed shit pissing off his already small NY fanbase. that's what blu is in relation to the internet.

also gotta give common points for being in good shape... lord knows everyone in his generation be lookin like this:

How are you guys coming on your verses for the collab track that's going to lay siege to the GAF minds during this good christmas month? I just finished the last draft on mine. I'll have it recorded as soon as I get a chance.

I can't lie... I like Common's album, but its kinda vanilla to be honest. Blue Sky, imho, is by far the best track on it. Was honestly a little let down the full thing after getting so hyped up for it.

Jeezy came through so its all good

2/8 so far. I'll have mine in in a bit. Recon, just to keep it all clean, strike yourself out whenever you finish, and everyone else; if you want to pull out, or just aren't going to be able to get a verse in, please, say so sooner than later. I'd rather that than have the track hung up on a feature that's never going to show.

Common has also been putting out freestyles on radio stations and videos explaining each and every track on his album for the past week and a half or so. The Sweet explanation is especially funny because even he has trouble explaining WTF it's doing on the album. Pretty much, it's a fun record to him and that's how he justifies it.

Oh sweet an Exile album with some Blu raps sprinkled in, maybe I'll actually listen!

Starting off right, my god this production.

well....the production on this album is just him grabbing other tracks...most of it is not "real" production...which makes sense...i mean, it's a mixtape.

But yea, I think we all want a lupe album on the level of "the cool"

but WWJD track is just so good lyrically.

I found the lyrics much better on FOTP compared to LASERS. And yeah, the production is just random shit he jacked, so its whatever. But WWJD/Double Burger/Joaquin Pheonix are all better than what is on Lasers.

I'm also going to have to agree that his mixtape was better than "that" album. It's not saying much, but Lupe at least sounded focused on Friend of the People. Now only if the production was as good...

Damn you've all got me listening to Chronic 2001 again.
It's been years man (what the fuck ever happened to my CD!?) and I forgot just how nice the production sounds.
I'm still sad Hittman never got a solo record.

whomever it was in this thread that compared ASAP with lil b is out of his motherfucking mind. its like comparing a 3 year old playing t ball with a grown ass man in the minor leagues. ASAP is legit.

The Breakfast Club with Yung Berg and they talk about most of his Ls

This has me cracking up. Within the first 10 seconds of him being introduce, one guy says the man who still wears jordans after all he's been through lmao.

Edit: wow at all my errors damn
I died when someone yelled out "MONEY TEAM!" in the back haha.

Charlamagne the God is hilarious, saying no ones checking for Yung Berg to his face. I remember when he was arguing with Slaughterhouse about how garbage Yela is and everyone was like :| *no comment.*

"You are a poster boy for cyber-bullying"
"Your a really good dude, and I think God will bless you for continually giving jewels to the hood."
hahahaa

I gotta say though, dude seems like he has his shit together, especially for someone who's pretty much taken more Ls than anyone else in the industry in the shortest period of time. So respect to Yung Berg.

At least realize that they're two of them, and they both have released multiple dope albums prior to it.

okay.
there's obviously 2, one sounds a lot like ye here. having a body of work before the album i hurrd where you sound like ye doesn't change my observation, though.

Doggystyle is definitely top 10 material. It's the quintessential "product of the era."

preach. there's a few (not many) weak tracks on original Chronic, i can't recall one on Doggystle. shit worked on the radios, parties, (presumably in clubs cause i was too young), everywhere.

recently came across it and listened. It's so fucking good and chill. Production on it is sick. It was released back in 97' if that helps anybody.

9 min mashup of the album

could have been. I believe prior to me sitting in the Atlanta airport for 7 hours with my mp3 player I was pretty lukewarm on the dude. I got halfway through the album before I realized what I was listening to. its got some weak spots but overall its a great album and ASAP is way better than I originaly have him credit for. I had the belly album loaded up after it and they go together great.

I'm talking on my cellaphone!!
