Ok time for DJ ACE's top ten "diss tracks"

1) No Vasline - Ice Cube, who got it? NWA and some other people around them.. Shit was so personal.. so raw.. It also put Cube in that untouchable status for a while..

2) Ether - Nas, who got it? Jay-Z.. Shit was so ill it turned ether into a verb..Nas may have won the battle but Jay-Z won the war.. however I know Jay will never diss Nasty again on wax..Also started Ron Browz career

3)Dollaz + Sense - DJ Quik, who got it? MC Eiht (who? you say, that's the point)
"Tell me why you act so scary Givin your set a bad name wit your misspelled name
E-I-H-T, now should I continue Yeah you left out the G cause the G ain't in you" yeah...

4) Hit Em Up - 2Pac Who got it? Biggie and Bad Boy and Faith Evans (lol) Pac really did go off on Biggie and all of Bad Boy.. it wasn't exactly deep or even clever but it was just bullets... after this track I was shocked that 2Pac lived as long as he did..

5) The Bitch in Yoo - Common, Who got it? Ice Cube.. Cube went off on all of NWA, and then Cypress, Tribe and Common.. Common fired back and seriously lit Cube up... after that Cube wasn't as scary anymore.

6) The Bridge is Over - BDP, who got it? MC Shan Marley Marl and the Juice Crew. Basically there was no coming back from this...they tried and they failed.. and KRS 1 became fat and silly...

7) How Ya Like Me Now -Kool Moe Dee, who got it? LL Cool J. Really Kool Moe Dee ate LL's food for most of their beef.. LL just had that Hollywood look. It was old school beef at it's best and Kool Moe Dee took it to him with this song (name of the album as well)

8) Don't Bite The Phunk -Kokane Ft Cold 187, who got it? Death Row records. Really this is a Cold 187 track that happened to be on Kokane's album. He goes off on Death Row.. really it's too bad this hasn't been heard more because it is Cube like in the inner workings of Dre and Death Row...

9) King of the Hill/Cross them out and put a K - Westside Connection, who got it? Cypress Hill and Tribe Called Quest. Ice Cube makes the list three times! Cypress Hill got abused so badly that they went on Letterman and stated they got no problems.. Also Tribe caught because Tip was running his mouth during the media made East Coast vs West Coast battle...

10) Blow It Out/Number One Spot - Ludacris, who got it? Bill O'Reilly!! Two songs on two different albums, and not really a full diss track, but how awesome is it that Luda and Bill beefed???

MDMA. THis ain't the whisper song.

Great list, although to be honest I never though Hit Em Up was a great diss beyond the raw energy and the very first line of the entire track. Most of it is just the outlaws dropping shitty bars. But can't deny the impact.

And the Kool Moe Dee/LL battle was interesting. KMD, like you said, destroyed LL, just made him look foolish...but LL somehow walked away the winner. Maybe if KMD looked more like a gay porn star he would be the one doing movies and TV shows and LL's career would have been the one to die.

the Luda/Bill O'Reilly beef was fucking hilarious to me.

Hit Em Up is my favorite tho. That shit was just pure, unbridled "fuck you" in song form. First time I heard that I remember thinking "yeah he probably had to go after that."
Even the sorry ass Outlawz couldnt shit that song up.

also Pac rant/monologue at the end always cracks me up.

yup, good list - Ripper strikes back and nail in the coffin ("but then again, you'd finally get your wish, cause you'd be all over the streets, like fifty cent..") would make mine.

ive heard that last line before, anyone got a link? never did know what tip said specifically to get named here, it's weird seeing hostility thrown at a dude who's usually all about positive shit.

That is kind of the charm of Hit Em Up.. Even Pac said you ain't worth my time I am going to let my sorry minions have at you and walked away.. lol But yeah it isn't that great of a song or that deep... but it was full of REAL hate...

KMD won a grammy! But all you said was true.. :(

i didn't like it when i first got here either, but presuming one wants to make lots of $ making music in this generation, which has been talked about to death in this thread regarding the need for style, a twitter, good PR shit etc etc - kind've paints that picture, man.

i mean, name another genre that tends to disrespect its elders/legends more.
This isn't something exclusive to hip hop or this thread. It's just a general statement on how I perceive people who love to throw it out a lot. It just screams elitist snob because the person using it is implied to be the barometer for what is important to everyone.

Someone can say Pac is irrelevant and they'd be right, and another person can still find Pac completely relevant to them, so who is right? It's just a more pretentious and condescending way to say "popular".

Blah blah blah, it means exactly what it means. Get the stick out of your ass. If it is the most meaningless shit you can think of, you must not think of much.
Actually it doesn't mean shit. It's just a meaningless statement from people who usually wish other people found them relevant to anything.

this i kinda get, it's like saying you have your finger on the pulse and these people aren't feeling papoose right now.
when you level up, you become KRS-1 DA GOD and can speak for a whole culture, though.

Keep trying son, people in this thread already said it better than myself, so read up.

Exactly. Because it begs the question "relevant to who or what". If you give a point of reference the statement makes sense. If you just leave it open ended you look like a pretentious clown.

Day 3. Hold up.

Edit: Oh man. The Weeknd. Hopefully there are some more Cali shows between the Coachella appearances.

I'm a big fan of back down as well. I just love that beat and it just felt mean as fuck.

Same with nail in the coffin, benzino had to have cried just a little bit after hearing it.

Oh man. The possibility of a CRS record?! I feel a disturbance in the Force.

Even if it isn't a proper CRS album, you know Kanye will be on the album with production/features. Nothing but great music has been released when they get together and the CRS name gets involved. (Us Placers, Don't Stop, Everyone Nose [remix])

Yep. Everybody Nose remix is my shit.

Also holy shit Snoop and Dre? What's with them performing together everywhere all of a sudden?

With all this stuff about Jay-Z, does anyone have a good link about the "facts" of his Illuminati status? I really want to see them..

Man, Drake stannery is some of the worst yo. I have a dude I know going off on Common on twitter and it's just embarrassing using all the corniest Drake lines to make Drake look threatening. Like, every line from Headlines.

that person is not your friend

for real, why try to run in this lane at all? honestly, if drake woulda done the "yeah im sweet, ladies love me/girls adore me/i mean even the ones that never saw me ps im rich bitch" angle wouldve worked for the same crowd of lames and been done with it. the act is worse than sean penn trying to be hard in carlito's way.

Is it PD? That sounds like something he would do.
How did PD go from hater to stan overnight? I thought Domino was our resident Drake stan?

Believe me I like Headlines, and many of those lines are Drake not being serious and joking around (napkinz), but using that shit to big up Drake is just SMH.

Both Drake and Common are out of line and need their faces fixed. Drake a bit more because this is only building upon his ignorance of where he stands in the game, which he's been displaying for far too long now.

That "Stay Schemin" beat is dope as shit though...I need that instrumental, I can't listen to that shitty ass chorus.

Beat sound like some Tron shit with a Hiphop drum line

IDK, but he has been going hard for Drake the past couple of days regarding this "beef".
