Speaking of The Weeknd, he's got two more mixtapes coming out this year. "Thursdays" in the summer and "Echoes of Silence" in the Fall.

Wonderful! House of Balloons gets nice rotation on my playlist. Put me in the The Weeknd > Frank Ocean group.

HiResDes and DominoKid walking the Gaf-Hop plank tonight.

For the record, I like both Weeknd and Ocean a lot but for almost entirely different reasons. Weeknd is swag rap meets whatever it is he's doing singing wise. Frank Ocean is a bit like the black Bon Iver right now

lol@ Chamillionaire, Da Brat, Wiz Khalifa and Twista remix of racks. Mr.Boring, Mrs.irrelevant, Mr.soft, and Mr.gimmick. It's like the worst supergroup ever.

Also, Gravediggaz making a new album?

Apparently all the old faces are on board and even Prince Paul says he's down (but hasn't contributed yet).

Wale always looks out of place in all these BAWSE/mob pics. It really is a strange fit for him on that record label but hey whatever gotta get that money where you can.

yer boy pesh would easily get shook and choke in url he not seeing them, stop being a dikrider

fuck outta here

couple things. He beat DNA in NY so I'd consider that pretty much the same thing. Don't really get the hate for being from Canada when I also said Grind Time was better.

I'm just sick of all the gun raps with the same style over and over. Didn't want to offend you or anything lol. I'd also like to point out hes not even close to being my favorite despite the avatar.

I don't listen to anything like JMT anymore because I don't really relate to any of that but this bangs. Crazy production.

This has to be my favorite produced underground track ever produced:

Ok on the subject of J. Cole (again), I'm just realizing how crazy that cole under pressure line is. I didn't catch all of the means of this, but this line has 4 separate meanings. I don't even know if all were intentional but still insane from such a simple line:

"Cole under pressure what that make, diamonds"

1. First obvious one is that cole = coal and pressurized rocks over time form diamonds
2. When J.Cole is under pressure, he puts out amazing music aka 'gems'. DIamonds are gems.
3. I dunno if this was intentional but: when you sell 10 million records, you get the diamond certification (which would be impossible for him lol)
4. The diamond as you know is the sign of the Roc (rocfella, roc nation, roc family, etc)

You know, speaking of voices, I always felt like if a vagina became self aware and grew a voice box and started rapping, it would have Drake's voice and delivery. Oh you fancy huh?

I don't know why, but compared to everyone else in this picture Wale just doesn't seem to fit. Can't figure out why though :/

Battle rap is cool as hell when it stays on the stage and off the CDs.

I'm still listening to OF. Never really got into the older tapes until now. Still don't get the rampant love. I don't want to come off like I think he's bad, he's just not touching Tyler, Earl, Mike G or even rapping Frank Ocean. Honestly I put Hodgy and Domo on the same level. The Radical mixtape has some great songs. For some reason I always just ignored it. Splatter might be Tyler's best 'just spittin' song. Earl also owns Rich Boys Drop beat on that tape better than anyone else I've heard.

Really refreshing collective.

Im not a fan of DNAs corny wordplay. GT rappers are big fans of Tech. URL is the best, ultimate rap league.

Ballgame!

Xfactor is trash and surf is middle tier. watch a hollow or swave battle. hitman vs ars about to hit 1 million views. yall can hate but people watch it.

That Self Made album is basically a bunch of producers trying to recreate BMF. Some bangers but I doubt I could give it another listen.

Kinda wonder if Ross is oversaturating the market with these types of beats. His street single for his own album is gonna be another BMF clone most likely, and he's wasting beats on mixtapes.

I'm not a big fan of battle raps either tbh. Too many rappers just come with pre written bullshit, the art of making it up as you go along is only gifted to very few. Although I really enjoyed some of the "rhymesayers and friends" battles that found their way onto the internet. Brother Ali vs. Eyedea was pretty damn good and very obviously all off the top. "Talking about my tape, at least I got a tape!"

Also the Eyedea/Murs battle
. It's not that spectacular from a "ooooh shit" standpoint but they just look like they are having a great time and don't take themselves seriously. Also, Eyedea is so fucking drunk it makes me lmao everytime.

I don't even like Toro Y Moi, this is hilarious....Now if you had said either Theophilus London or Melo-X, you'd had been right.

that mofo is straight garbage. my roommate is on his dick 24/7. i aint got the heart to point out how wack he is.

How can anyone not like some Toro y Moi? Still Sound is my 'wooo-sssah' song if I get all stressed out. I just hate that the guy that hipped me to them where jeans he prolly has to shave off.

Anyway, this all started in the other Tyler thread where you post a laundry list of post modern hipster vomit above Frank Ocean in an attempt to spread peacock feathers of individuality. That shit can't go unchecked. As the only two Nati reresentatives in GAF HOP, we gotta keep each other in line. ;)

Man HiRes has been getting brutalized recently in this thread. Stand tall my man, they are just mad at your mixtape swag.

...Well to be honest I was lying about Toro Y Moi, I forgot how much I used to listen to him back when he was still making prototypical chillwave music...But then the genre got so watered down that I avoided listening to it much...And before long I forgot I even had it.

@ Siddx maybe my tastes are really changing for the worse. I've been listening to so much jazz and folk music lately LOL

Lots of people say this but its just how it evolved. How is it bullshit? maybe if its in a league thats based around actually freestyling but they don't call them "freestyle battles" anymore for a reason. It's not like the battles can't be as good if both people have writtens. It's just another way to battle and it has proven to be the most popular. Even if the MC has the entire round written beforehand most still leave room for rebuttals and flips that require that same off the top skill that you talked about. Anyways I can understand why people don't like it but personally I love it. If you look at how much its grown in the last 4 years its pretty amazing.
