Roots, How I Got Over for only 1.99. If you guys redeemed that Promo Code earlier and don't know what to do with it the credit you have -- here's a good FREE album for you (that I haven't even listened to and is about to download free using Amazon credit!)
Thanks a bunch, downloaded and listening now. So far this is up there with Do You Want More??!!?!?! for me. Best $2 I've spent this year.

This album never gets old. Has to be in your top 10 of the decade. "Exploitation of Mistakes" I can just loop all day. That's what a perfect beat sounds like. A perfect loop, perfect drums, perfect fx. Perfect. Hard to think that this came out five years ago.

i coudln't get into it. gza sounds about 80 on there :( :(

How exactly can you like and respect someone you've never listened to before?

I respect/like Twista without listening to one of his albums, too.

He has that Dat Ass face going on in that album art though. :lol

Edit: I can't believe I always ignored How I Got Over. Jesus Christ, this album is a masterpiece. O_O Like someone said, best $2 dollars I've spent all week. :lol

How I Got Over for $2 is just as crazy as when I got Dark Fantasy for $1, maybe crazier.

Yeah I forgot who it was but whoever hyped me up shall not be forgiven :lol...Way too many r&b type bullshit tracks, and not enough Adrenaline Rush like slow killer songs.

Forgot to mention this mixtape, came out not too long ago

Bishop Lamont : Mecha God Spilla

Some great tracks on there, and I've long been a Lamont fan.
If you like West Coast rap this is very much worth the download.

It has a bunch of Dr.Dre produced tracks btw.

Wow I didn't even know he was with G-Unit, they are kinda on the come up, especially with Danny Brown apparently in negotiations with them as well.

If I recall correctly, Lamont decided to step back from aftermath and g unit so he could have control over his music and when it gets released and such and such and was allowed to take all the music he made, including stuff with Dre (for his own album and stuff he did for older versions of Detox) with him. I guess he is apparently still close with everyone on Aftermath though.

Agreed, and the same reason I couldn't get into GZA's last album. The lack of energy and interest in his voice is painful Good beat, nice concept/lyrics but I can't put that on and stay awake or interested.

Hence why I'm not anticipating Liquid Swords 2 at all. Besides the whole RZA-falling-off thing. But then again, Dark Fantasy is pretty dope.

Is everyone still sleeping on Kendrick Lamar? I was listening to How I Got Over and remembered he sampled the intro, which prompted me to re-listen to Overly Dedicated.

It's totally good.

I wasnt feeling Pilot Talk 2 either, until i lit one up. :)

Not a bad album, though pilot talk 1 is still better.

I just realized T.I. got an album coming out next week :lol . I was wondering where that "Welcome To the World" song came from.

I gotta order that. His albums are sort of a guilty pleasure for me, and he always has hood bangers since Rubberband Man.

Bishop Lamont got dropped from aftermath supposedly for leaking Dr Dre Tracks, he was NOT supposed to be seen with G-Unit, because interscope wasn't sure how they were going to market him, but he did it anyway because Jimmy I. And Dr Dre shelved him, and he was trying to get the ball rolling on his own, since it worked for game when he got shelved the first time.

This is the video that got him dropped. (Allegedly)

( The Game was signed to Dr Dre before 50 Cent, but he couldn't make a hit song so they put him in g-unit for marketing purposes and it worked... for a while....lol)

Not a lot I wouldn't do to Keri.

You guys ever listen to this record? It's good. All New Zealand hip-hop but M-Phazes has produced for a couple American artists in the past too:

Actually, that beat was originally intended for SAS. Kanye just bought it out for a much higher price and turned it into The Joy, so they decided to put out this track anyways. I'd link but I'm posting from my iPhone.

Kinda did em dirty, but this happens in rap all the time.

T.I. might not have the best subject matter but his flow is off the charts. Usually top notch productions, catchy hooks, and T.I. can rap his ass off.

Can anyone recommend me some laid back Hip Hop songs / artists?

I'm looking for songs such as

I got 5 on it - Da Luniz

Losing my Balance J Cole

Everything I Am - Kanye West

Wishing on a Star - Jay Z

Regulate - Warren G

I know a lot of Drake's stuff is of this style, so please don't recommend him :)
Someone posted some People Under the Stairs, thought I'd recommend some more since I'm seeing them this Thursday.

so Nas put out a "best lyricist list" for Rolling Stone mag, and here it is:

01. Notorious B.I.G. – My Downfall (1997)
The lyrics are about how he’s acing the shadows of death, despite all of his success, and he’s giving it to you in a way that makes it seem so real.

02. 2Pac – If My Homie Calls (1991)
He’s just saying to his boys that he’s going to be a friend no matter how big he gets.

03. Kool G Rap & DJ Polo – Road To the Riches (1989)
The way we’re rhyming now? He was already doing it then .

04. Ice Cube – A Bird In the Hand (1991)

05. Eric B. & Rakim – Paid In Full (1987)

06. Lil Wayne – I’m Single (2010)
I’m recently divorced, so I feel what he’s saying.

07. Rick Ross – Tears of Joy (2010)
Ross is at the pulpit here.

08. Slick Rick – The Moment I Feared (1988)
It’s cinematic. He’s at a hip-hop show and ices this girl who played him, then he’s in prison getting violated by some dude. This was unheard of.

09. Jay-Z – Empire State of Mind (2009)
This song is huge. It sounds like Broadway. It’s New York’s modern anthem.

10. Lil Kim – Queen Bitch (1996)
At the time, females rappers didn’t appeal to the street, but Kim came with the vulgarity, sexuality and gangster shit.

Lil Wayne, single.... okay nas
