damn lol quality post

yea it's getting pretty ridiculous at this point
jay rock is one thing but just wait till they try and pull this shit with the next ab-soul album after the fiasco that these days... was lol

Connect the dots. Read between the lines. #staywoke.

These dudes are getting exposed on the main stage. This bullshit might have worked during the come up days when the focus was on building up a fanbase but ever since they signed that Interscope deal it's been amateur hour. How do you release one of the biggest albums of the decade (GKMC) and not attempt to ride that wave immediately. Jay Rock or Q should have had an album out in 2013.

Then there was the TPAB rollout disaster. Cole embarrassed them from some pretty high heights with how impressive and planned his rollout was, vs the nonsense TDE pulled with TPAB. And btw they still haven't even announced an official Kendrick tour. I understand that doing festivals is important but how do you not even announce a tour five months after your album drops brehs?

Kendrick strikes me as too passive (and dumb) to take his career in his own hands, as Cole and Drake have done. When I listen to him I just don't get the impression he's thinking this shit through. He's letting his crew handle shit and they're fucking up.

I mean, I get it. TDE felt burnt by their last couple of releases not moving as many CDs as they expected (even though it was TPAB, which isn't for everybody, and bunch of mediocre ass releases) and they're trying to prevent Rock flopping after all the bullshit we've been through to even get an album title and tracklist.

But let your artist stand on his own two. If the music is solid, the sales will come.

The last thing the industry needs is this fuckery actually catching on and it becoming a standard practice for cats to hold back albums until the preorder numbers look right.

I wouldn't say he's dumb. He's just not a businessman.

I would call Kendrick more humble than dumb, but yea, I understand your point.
Jay Rock on the other hand I'm surprised has let it come to this.
He had a decent window to release something when TDE as a whole had crazy hype. Remember the Black Hippy album? lol

If things don't somehow work out with his 90210 album then I can see something more drastic happening
Honestly I'm kinda surprised he hasn't killed Punch lol maybe they really do have that much faith.
i believe...but tick tock

i forget the exact details of the TPAB rollout, what was so bad? did they just barely hype it or do dumb shit like say they'd move up the date with preorders

The problem with TDE is that they expanded too fucking soon. They had a thing going with mixtapes, digital albums, merch, etc.

Now you are seeing the flaws within the group when it comes down to meeting that wider audience. I seriously feel that the management wasn't expecting the shit to be so hard on a wider level.

I wouldn't say he's dumb. He's just not a businessman.

I think its a combo of that and he probably sees everybody at TDE as his friends and he don't want to step on no toes. Probably just get along with everybody, don't say shit. Jay Rock like "yo check out this chorus on my new single" KDot like "wooooow that's hot yo I'm sayin that's crazy b". Taylor Swift like "I love saying the n-word lowkey listening to your music be in my video bae" Kendrick like "I mean yeah of course whatever you want girl :3"

Yo they announced an album, a track listing and these fuckers are doing Rock like that? Wowwww. I actually can't believe that shit. Just release the album you morons. I actually believe Q will have his album good to go this fall but these dudes are gonna dick around and have him drop it after prolonging the shit out of it and building insane hype. No Kendrick or TDE tour. Damn.

Crazy. They're gonna do Rashad like this too :[

Mostly taking a long time to release it. Also putting out a shitty version of i as the single and telling people it was the plan all along for the album version to be better.

TDE is doing okay for themselves TBH but it's debatable that they may have fucked over Q and the label execs are all seemingly toxic idiots that are super gassed about the position they're in. They just need to shut up before they hurt the brand in some tangible way when they overstep their boundaries and celebrity. And arguably some of the worst marketers of all time.

Just saw Yung Lean is listed on the "Outsider music" wikipedia page. Wat.

Outsider music is the term used to describe songs and compositions by musicians who are not part of the commercial music industry who write music that ignores standard musical or lyrical conventions, either because they have no formal training or because they disagree with conventional rules.

I don't see it.

WHat happened to Isaiah and Ab-Soul, anyway? I thought Ab Soul was meant to release an album.

On a completely unrelated note, I just remembered the existence of Euro at Cash Money. I assume he's firmly locked in the basement dungeon with Gudda etc?

Euro made an appearance on Wayne's recent mixtape IIRC?

Still doesn't mean he's out of the Gudda Gudda/Jae Millz basement. Might have gotten the big bunk for a week or something.

That is weird so for once yall could bug out. TDE is still the best group out now by far though.
We're not talking about the artists, we know that they have a lot of fans. The management is probably one of the worst out of all the labels out there. Their incompetence is hilariously sad.

The TDE shit is gonna look super bad if it comes out that Kendrick's deal was garbage. It's kind of one of those things that can be super low key and nobody would ever notice or question.

Like just imagine Top owns all the masters and turns into a mogul 5 years from now after robbing Kendrick, pushing a new label consisting of Trinidad Jame$, Machine Gun Kelly, Mistah FAB and Jay Rock.

I wouldn't go as far as TDE being finished if Rock's album flopped. Isiah got next...
Isaiah got next plastic bag to put in the garbage bin. Only thing TDE promised to him. Pretty sure they avoid using the word "next" in general when he's around.

that clown dangeroopookapawaka is always making a fool of himself, it's so bizarre how he holds the power of TDE's releases lol.

make your crazy homeless friend the head of your label brehs...

TDE need to suck it up and do that Black Hippy album.
This would be dope. Put druggies 3 on there too.

Rashad had an album last year.
dipset > tde
You love makonnen tho.
Shame...Cilvia was so slept on. Dude could cook up a Supreme Clientele for TDE and they wouldn't give a shit :/.
What? The album reviewed well and sold better than expected.

I legitimately think i can out manage these fools.
