drake repeating the hook over & over on big rings was a low point so far
tying up diamond dogs now...shit, this went better than i thought

also props to RP for really sticking it through some of these no limit joints

mhmmmmmmmy god, stop fucking lyiiiiiiiiing

Eazy E: The Joe Pesci of Hip Hop.

dead...just dead

good thing your fanbase aint gotta worry about that huh

On another note, it feels like Future is killing this album. Dude going ultra in, while Drake is playing the field. This doesn't feel like a joint effort.

i like that the tape is driven by Future. it's easier for Drake to fit into Future's sound than the other way.

yeah, this was weird for me, as i typically like drake on the mic more than future - but it's his show and drizzy's the feature. as ya'll said, prolly works better with his sound & drake isn't sounding too forced on most of this so far

oh yeah, that's clearly an accident right there

Remember all that talk about releasing the mixtape as an album being a master stroke to get out of the Cash Money deal. This negus probably got a 10 album deal with Birdman lmao...

yeah, while back didnt one of ya'll say he & nicki had a great deal, that they could walk when the ship sinks & take their work with em or something? swear i remember this post

Remember the thread "Did Lupe just killed the rap game in January" or some shit like that?

L-O-L

Smh some folks dismissing T and Y but all like

to his mixtape.

nah, some of us comfortably rejected both deposits

Shit I was stuck in 2005 and 06 for some years. If it wasn't for GKMC and RTJ, I would be happy with a Camp Lo album and a Joe Budden Mood Muzik mixtape.

haha damn...yeah, i was here too. we say it alla time but those few years of ringtone rap felt like a short dark ages, followed by a sort've renaissance like '09 or so (didnt gafhops kinda start around then too?)

man just drop rashad and foh with the rest

album doesn't have that instant punch that watch the throne did. that was immediately exciting.

yeah, im a much bigger fan of WTT but this one opens strong enough, it feels like it lost steam towards the tail end....might just be me
the transition to drake's 30 track at the end is kinda jarring too, what a weird note to end on but then again there's nowhere else on here where it would've fit honestly

I'm a sadder person knowing that Watch the Throne 2 will probably never be a thing.

eh, i love jay but i dont think he can muster even the effort he put out there, and wolves was good but i wanna hear yeezy's next before saying he's in that state of mind too

it's okay though, next year thugger and jayden will pick up the torches & this thread will go nuts

I feel bad for hating Kid Cudi's shitty guitar music because he seems like a nice guy, but it's just bad. Hopefully his acting career takes off. He played Ari Gold's new secretary in the Entourage movie.

i honestly wouldn't be surprised if he reupped. even if he gettin jerked on his album money there's a certain level of insulation that Birdman (street level) and UMG suits (boardroom level) can provide that he won't get elsewhere. better to roll w/ the devil you know. seems to be going well (apple deal, craptors, jordan deal, etc).

Well this Drake x Future mixtape is still Cash Money Records according to Apple Music.

I listened to FBG x OVO. Solid mixtape with some bangers but it's the Future show and Drake is the sidekick completely. And truth be told it won't stick around in my phone for long. I'd rather listen to DS2 or IYSRTITL. It goes but it has the feeling of when you buy a roast chicken but you and your mans dont eat all the roast chicken so you take it and turn it into enchiladas the next day. Somewhat well disguised, but clearly not fresh.

Be reality, Drake's entire year is coming off as a bunch of emailed leftovers. We remarked earlier that If You're Still Reading This felt like a collection of throwaways? This feels the same way. Low effort, low content, low ambition #hashtag weakly themed release that doesn't really give you much to digest on for more than a couple listens. It might be moot point to accuse a rapper who probably doesn't write or compose much of his music of being lazy, but *shrug*. He let the t-pain lite labradoodle steer the boat on this one and it shows. Maybe he's just arrogant because he has no real competition.

It's all about getting twitter hype for a few days before ppl move on to some shit that sounds the exact same (with better or worse mastering), brehs.

Dark Sky Paradise releases:
Day 1: Yo shit bangs, Big Sean finally did it, Yo dat production, shit is fire.
Day 2: Nah man shit sucks, Medium Sean remains weak, shit is average at best.

ALLA releases:
Day 1: Yo this shit kinda bangs, damn that smooth production
Day 2: WTF is this shit, pure trash, basura at best.

Dreams Worth More Than Money releases:
Day 1: Damn that intro, Wooot he really did it, Solid album he went it
Day 2: Nah his last album had a better intro, Shit kinda of weak though, Drake is the only thing worth it here.

What a Time to be Alive:
Day 1: SWEET MOTHER OF HALLELUJAH, GOD HAS BLESSED US, WE AIN'T WORTHY, I CAME TWICE ALREADY.
Day 2: It's good but no DS2, meh it's alright but won't have legs.

I exagerated a bit but you get the picture. The only exception in terms of general reception I've seen here are TPAB, Barter 6 and DS2. I'm starting to have a good idea of what the top 3 albums will be in this year's GAF HOP awards.

You know this argument doesn't work if it's not the same people changing their opinions right?

Might be my AOTY after all is said and done, let's see how I feel in a few months. Too much good stuff to appreciate until the end of the year.

Don't forget Yen Lo. Pretty sure I'll be able to guess the top 5 with ease.

That's why I said general opinion, doesn't matter who said what. You are all analysed as a collective. And as I said, it was exagerated a bit purposely.

So as a collective we're all supposed to align in our tastes and what we look for in music? This would be a boring ass community if that was the case.

Yeah I've given Drake & Future a listen through twice. It's nice. But their solo efforts this year each have been better.

Pumping this Young Thug, Slime Season, and this shit so far is 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Phew!!!

Young Thug's year confirmed?
Best solo album?
Best videos?

You got the point, don't read too much over it.

Edit: This should've been an edit on the previous post sorry.

I think you're missing the point fam. The idea of one night classics is definitely real here and on other forums/twitter. It's almost like everyone is trying to recreate that feeling of the first time we all rode the wave collectively as one hive mind - ie Baby Faced Killa. Specifically track four.

The hype from yesterday was due to 2 of the biggest stars in the genre releasing a joint project. You didn't really see that earlier this week with the Young Thug mixtape.

My opinion not changing for WATTBA. The album is a banger, it's just not a collaboration album by any means. Even though it seems like Drake is winning this year, it's more of Drake playing the field and riding the waves. If anything Future killed 2015 and it took a few listens to DS2 to understand GafHop's insanity. I thought the hype was on some troll Ear Drummers shit, but man.....when you play DS2 and Thought it was a Drought comes on, that shit sets the album off right.

it reminds me of the hatred towards Jeezy in 2005, but once you actually hear his album...it was remarkable. Them beats, them adlibs, them lines about selling bricks. It was marvelous.

Anywho, I understand the Future love and it felt like Drake's hit point was his outro. Also, that Diamonds song.

I hope this week is calmer, I still need to give a proper listen to the new Mac Miller, Thugga and Chief Keef. There's jsut too much on my pate right now and I keep jumping from one specific song to another, I still need to listen to everything as a whole properly.
