i caught the hype when the news leaked and was frothy with anticipation but drake/future is blatantly mediocre

drake sucks all over other than diamonds and the freestyle, and future did his typical shit on everything which is good but after all the tapes AND ds2, which shouldve been his capstone of 2015, this tape isnt necessary

i think this is a bad look for both (in terms of their recent output being considered "great" by consensus tho that drake mixtape is straight ass for 75% of it everyone forget its like 18 songs because only 5 were good)

BUT i think plastic bag is an anthem and the best drake/future COLLABORATIVE song compared to drake verses on future songs

all facts

both kinda watering down the brand, but it shouldn't really "hurt" either of them. Future's stock will only rise now that he's been given an album's worth of stimulus package, and it helps Drake keep co-opting the little overrun between urban radio and p4k rap demographics. It's fresh! and new! and hot!

but the actual songs and content are getting kinda been there done that. no new flows unlocked, leftover verses, boring.

There isn't really much to debate about What A Time, because there isn't much content or musical moves made by either. It's a b-side mixtape with a price on it and high billing.

I put on Scholarships and just fucking float.

How can you not.

And I rock Kentucky blue on these hoes
Drafted, I'm gettin' choose by these hoes
Usually they just leave when we done
I don't wanna share no room with these hoes
Metro gon' make it boom on these hoes
And me, I just stick and move on these hoes
We got that purple rain for the pain
My niggas, we ain't change, we ain't change

These new Atlanta cats are sharing their beat techniques too easily or they all work together, they all make similar beats any given year. They find what works and then it all melds. Their music has no longevity except a few standouts.

This is true, but that's their problem. We just eating what's hot at the moment. Future proving to be an exception tho.

ATL been lacking diversity in music since Organized Noise and DJ Toomp tapped out of the game :(. Beggers can't be choosers nowadays.

Yeah I don't have high hopes for WATTBA sticking in the rotation. Many of the songs go but nothing really super memorable or outstanding.

It's cool for what it is, a little project they banged out in a short period of time, which in it's own way is refreshing from all the overthought projects that seem to be coming out.

What are the chances of WATTBA outselling DS2?

100%?

1000%?

More interested to see how it will compare to IYRTIL though

Its crazy how Future's moment wasn't Honest, his big studio album - but a streak of straight up trap mixtapes completed by a trap/drake project.

TI needs to hook back up with Toomp, Trap Back Jumpin was dope as fuck.

He just need to keep doing what he did on Da'Nic. Shit is glorious.

He just needed to accept who he is and keep capitalizing on it. Some rappers just aren't built to appeal to bigger audiences.

Drake/Future feels every bit an album that was made in six days. Instant gratification that no one will remember. Which is fine, it serves its purpose. There's some nice beats. Just not much to it. A snapshot of truncated thoughts and feelings; like a series of twitter posts.

They all homies. But its easy to tell them all apart even without drops or tags.

Epics fault. They wouldnt let him release Super Future Fire Marshall Future.

Truth.

I'm too busy with Compton to re listen to this weed plate. Enjoyed a single playthrough but I won't go back to it.

What else has dropped lately that's worth listening to?

Aubrey been starving Makonnen.

This guy cracks me up. He turns into a different person every 3 weeks, like a pokemon. He started off looking like a unisex Atlanta hairdresser, then he morphed into a mesh shirt wearing creature who would be friends with Magic Johnson's son, now he looks like a bizarre cross between Jordan Peele and a Brazilian roadman with a thyroid problem.

Just a general question: how does everybody feel about the current music output right now compared to how they felt in 2014? Do you enjoy the current released albums or are still hungry for more/something else? Too much trap?

Forgot about Rodeo, like pretty much everyone.

Slime Season is really gorwing on me, still not even close to Barter 6 tho.
Nah breh

Rodeo still #1 in rotation. Might be AotY. Shit grows like a motherfucker. Might be the most well-rounded project this year, touches so many different places in production and emotion.

Too much competition right now, I listened to it for a while but there's too much going on. Now it's all about Thugga and Keef.

As Nibel asked, yes, there's way too much trap, but since I'm in the mood for it I feel blessed. 2014 was trash, Cilvia Demo and Mastermind are the only keepers for me.

Edit: I fucked with Piñata and RTJ2 too, but I didn't listen to them that much this year.
